I'm new to the whole iPhone preorder thing. I got in on the T-Mobile Jump On Demand promotion, and I was wondering if anybody can tell me when carriers usually start their preorder process? Is it the same as Apple or later? I ask because: I have to go to a store to get my "free" upgrade to the 6S/S+, I have to do it within 48 hours for priority access, and I need to plan some time for it...

They usually start at the same time as Apple does; however last year almost all carrier sites were having problems with server overload and people weren't able to pre-order.

Carriers officially start the same time Apple does. In reality, they usually start a bit before (11:55pm PST Verizon last year) and since they don't get hit with the same heavy traffic as apple.com, its best to preorder through them.

just sold my iPhone 6 Plus can't wait if they have 32 GB that be nice if not go for 64GB wondering on the price.

Plan to preorder a 6S Plus and re-up on my grandfathered UDP as long as AT&T allows. So this means I must go through the AT&T store to do so, but I am used to that anyway.

Will go with AT LEAST 64GB, but may opt for 128GB depends on what Apple puts out and how the pricing structure is. If it's same as last year with 16/64/128 lineup, then I may stick with the 64GB just like my 4S and 5S were/are.

64GB has actually been plenty for me. Despite having over 1300 songs, 42 videos, 700 photos, and 100 apps, I still have 15GB free on my 5S. However, with the 6S Plus, I am sure the file sizes of videos/photos/apps will all be bigger than they are now.

Thank you both for the input. I'm pretty sure I'll have to go into the T-Mobile store to do the preorde, but I will be doing it the day Apple opens their preorder!

I'm planning on replacing my iPhone 6 Plus with a regular iPhone 6s. The Plus was a little too big for me.

Me too. The 6 Plus was all that the first few months but now its just annoying. I'm gonna miss the battery life but I'm looking forward to a 6S w/ 128 GB! :)

I won't be pre-ordering, but instead camping out at my local Apple Store. Already have the 2 days off, should be exciting!

Thinking of doing the same. I was told by my lender not to spend money on expensive stuff while escrow is closing my deal for my house lol. So I'm just gonna go to the apple and pay cash in that case.Hopefully I close the deal before pre orders . First world of problems.

Nice! Have you camped out before?

This will be my first iPhone upgrade in 4 years.. Have a 3GS and blackberry z30 (office number). But confused between 6s and 6s+.. Don't know if the large size will be convenient to use on a day to day basis as a mobile phone.. I already have an iPad which I use while in bed and sofas..

Any suggestions ?

Hey we gotta get prepared for this. It's not like they're asking about pre-orders for the iPhone 7.
Exactly, and the pre order threads usually start when the invite gets sent anyway so it is done in the same way!

Never myself! I was planning on doing it for the Apple Watch as my first camp out but that didn't come to be thanks to the online-only status. But as for online, thanks to my time zone the pre orders start at 6.00 AM which is my normal waking time anyway. But so far the watch was my only 6 O'clock Pre Order (Which I got on launch day). So I will be doing it again this year! Reccomended to anyone for launch day would be to have the Apple Store App, as this did not crash when the website did.

Well, my suggestion would be to pop down an Apple Store and look at the current models? I found the upgrade a big change, but as proven whatever phone you get used to will look perfect in your eyes for size. Now my iPhone 5S looks like a toy, and the 6 looks just a bit too small. So decide after the Keynote? OIS (Optical Image Stabilisation) was pretty much the only difference last year but if, and I say if, the RAM upgrade or Force Touch was limited to the plsu I would suggest the choice is obvious. Entirely up to you though!

I understand.. Thing is, I use my iPhone while running /gym etc.. Don't know if plus will be comfortable in such usages.. Obviously the biggest advantage of plus are OIS and battery life.. If 6s gets these features, my choice will be obvious as I am not so much worried about that extra size in a phone.. For that I have my iPad.. It's only the extra features of plus that's making me think

I was in much the same position, do you have an Apple Watch? As this is what I wear in the gym instead.

This is going to be my first iPhone, so I have a few questions about the pre-order and also how availability has been in recent years.

If it goes up for pre-order on Friday 11th September, presumably release day will be Friday 18th, if this is the case, do you think the phone would land on my doorstep on that day, or could it be a day or 2 before (assuming I manage to place a pre-order of course). Its just because I'm heading away for the weekend on Friday, and would be chomping at the bit to get home and collect it.

Do you think there is any chance I could walk into an Apple Store on Friday 18th, with no pre-order, and walk out with a 64Gb Silver iPhone 6S? Has this been possible recently? I always hear about them increasing order numbers every year, so wondered if you think there will be supply issues.

Can you pre-order and collect in store?

Thanks
Stewart

Edit: Also, if I buy it through a 3rd party (Carphone Warehouse for example), if something goes wrong, can I still take it to the Genius Bar and get it swapped out, or would I have to go through CPW?

I see your point, if it is that much of a big thing for you the 6S seems to be the best option. I hope for your behalf that the differences are small or just size :)

I hope so.. 12 more days.. Lets see what Apple has in store for us .. I would love to have some surprise features in addition to what we already know about the 6s series.. :)

Me too! I'm also going to miss the awesome battery life, but it's indeed just a little bit too big for carrying around.

With the huge plus I will need a watch with mine...will buy once I get my phone
Milanese loop for general and business-ware, sports band for gym. You woudl be okay with the two but I don't like the idea of getting the band all sweaty XD

As for general use, you will get used to it trust me! From someone that found the iPhone 5 a big change from my 4S I can assure you that going to the 5.5" can be done by anyone!

Yeah that's exactly what I'm going for

Love the look of the milanese for general use. See what you are saying about sports band being better for gym

Although it would not fall off, I feel better with the sports band on. But Nyhow, the range is good and I have a home gym and use that most of the time, so as a beta tester, my watch switches to WiFi. But yes, the keybote will decide... Would the 4.7" be any more convieniant though?
