Let’s compare Snapdragon with A13 and see which one is outdated while being just released.

The ring style vibrator motor that is glued in isn’t helping either.

These phones are full of plastic and glue inside, while the iPhone is metal and screws. (With a Taptic Engine that’s screwed in.)

The iPhone 11 Pro Max in MG is my smartphone of choice.

Works great. It’s fast, takes amazing pics, it’s reliable, I enjoy it.

But it costs too much for a 2020 phone. It looks outdated as well.

the Samsung’s are looking like the future.

They got flip phones out there and what not and phones with 100x zoom and like 108MP I think?

Buying an iPhone 11 pro Max today at full price feels...not right given the price and choices

With the iPhones, you are getting excellent battery life, great cameras, awesome displays and the full might of the Apple ecosystem.

Though for the record, I do believe that the future is in wearables (eg: smart watches / glasses). Samsung having the better looking phones may not amount to much ultimately.

Woohoo.

It's a 2019 phone and looks outdated compared to what? Another rectangular piece of glass?

What is it about the S20 photos that you think are superior to the iPhone 11 Pro's?

You do realise it's not 100x optical zoom, right?

The Samsung's are not really any cheaper. I have to ask though, why didn't you just buy a Samsung phone? It's clearly what you want.

We move a little forward, we take some steps back. We take a few steps forward, we take a few back again. We had flip phones, we moved on to slabs. We had 4-inch phones and 10-inch tablets, then we started making our phones into tablets. Now we are trying to make them smaller again, even going the flip route, while cramming more into them if possible. Insatiable nature of man is a fantastic study.

The iPhone does not look outdated. It's boredom from buying increments annually that were not needed that manifests thusly.

For 5 years I was on the 4s/5 angular form factor. For 3 years now I have been on the 6 form factor and to me, it still doesn't look outdated. It's been just a decade when I was using a thick phone like BlackBerry Bold 9700 and that was considered relatively thinner. I think that is the thickness of about two and a half iPhone 8s stacked atop each other. And the power and the experience.. the Bold empowered me then as the 8 does now.

Problem is an overload of possessions with overlapping purposes, unsatisfying lives owing to misplaced priorities and importances. When a new iPhone does not instill an unwavering want in us, we get disappointed since we are stuck between knowing that our current device, the latest that was today is not the greatest with the new flagship launch, while the new one not being not much of an improvement to really justify the purchase and satisfy us. That intangible degradation of "status" takes us down a road that can only go so far.

Only trick is to really understand one's requirements and work for them and not jump until that inner voice is in agreement. I use an 8 today and do not plan to upgrade since this works for my requirements and I do not imagine needing anything more (at the moment) since the phone performs plenty fast. Same goes for my Mac. I'm using a 2017 MBA since it makes me happy using it as I do not need anything more and I understand my device is in agreement with my needs, I do not need more than this. The technically far superior 2016 MBP 13 with Touch Bar disappointed me in a way my 2011 MBP did not, so I sold it off. Advances are meaningless for you if they do not work for you personally.

Have you seen any of the samples of the zoomed photos? They are claiming up to 10X is still optical zoom quality. I've seen some of the shots taken at 10X. Apple definitely has some catching up to do with this. Very impressive for a camera on a phone. Optical zoom is about the only new feature I really would want with a newer phone. Hopefully Apple can perfect one soon.

you think I should?

Yes. If you like Samsung more, get a Samsung. Oh, and numbers aren't everything. 108 MP Camera, so what? How good is the sensor of that camera? It's not just about resolution and megapixels.

100x Zoom? Just how good will that look? What do you think?

Yes, the images are very good. My point was the 100x was software enhanced and looked ropey. I'm sure the iPhone 12 will offer at least twice the optical range. If not, then it will be disappointing.

Samsung is all about big numbers going for the WoW factor.

S20 Ultra 100x zoom 108Mp, Galaxy fold, Galaxy Z flip with glass display that defies physics!!

In reality the 100x zoom is unusable due to picture quality, the Galaxy fold was released twice, the Z flip has a thin glass layer that serves no purpose other than just being there.

They want to be the first and the biggest in numbers, because that’s what matters!!

The Apple approach is to release something that works reliably.

I hear this periodically, but I don't get this sentiment. Phones have been moving closer and closer to the 'slab of glass' ideal for some time now. Most phones look almost identical to one another with very subtle differences (size/location of the camera module, for example, the color of the body, is the edge curved or square) between them.

All phones are essentially going to be looking about the same from here on out. 'Dated' isn't really a thing anymore.

even so 10X zoom that is optical quality is quite a bit more than what apple currently offers. Take a look at sample photos if you haven't yet. Impressive for a phone camera to be able to get optical zoom at 10X. Would be much more useful to me than the wide angle the 11 has or the 2X optical the pro has.

I disagree. I still regularly look at my XS Max and am in awe of how pretty it is. I don't mind the notch either, but I'm excited for the day that there will be no notch. I do like the smaller bezels of the Galaxy devices, but I prefer FaceID and its security, the fact that the bezels are uniform/same size all around the screen, and I prefer not having a curved-edged screen.

Hey Lemme know when samsung Gets uniform bezels on their flagships 😂

You're kidding right!? While the design is showing some aging, it still is a good looking device the X series and above that is.

These new Samsungs ARE OK. The back of the phones are so bland and understated and their color selection is mind numbingly boring this year. Nah, the new Galaxy phones are pretty lifeless looking from a design standpoint if you ask me.

I always lol with this 100x Space Zoom gimmick
