I've only had coffee from a Keurig once or twice but I will say if they were cheaper, I'd definitely buy one.

Problem is, they make the same coffee as my $15 walmart coffee maker :( Such a large difference in for convenience...

I guess if you get coffee every morning from a store though they really are a lot cheaper.

I got one for 22$ used, the Elite, and a Mr. Coffee small one for 2$ since it was leaking (the tubing inside had 3 small holes, so cut it a bit shorter and now it works just fine).

Hm, that's not a bad idea. I might look at Craigslist and see :)

Anyone descale their brewer? Keurig says to use white vinegar but I saw that bed bath and beyond sells a cleaning solution for single serve coffee makers, ie the keurig. What is the difference? Anything I should be aware of or have tips? Does it smell? I can't image the smell of hot vinegar smelling too good. :p

Thanks!

White vinegar works well and it's dirt cheap.

After you descale, be sure you run at least two or three reservoirs full of water through the machine. Our first time doing it we only ran one through, with poor results.

I've seen these new Keurig Vue brewers, and I have mixed feelings. Sure, the new Vue cups allow for some recycling, but then again it's an entirely new system and incompatible with standard K-Cups.

Your thoughts...?

I saw it on their web site last week. I'd buy it if my Keurig died.

Who do I need to be compatible with? :p

The K-cups that are now starting to show up almost everywhere maybe?

Almost everywhere is about right. I've even seen them at hardware/home improvement stores (Lowe's, in the US). Starbucks seems to have taken the hint and are offering their coffee blends in K-cup form, which is a decent strategy for maintaining brand loyalty among those coffee fans no longer willing to pay upwards of $2 for a small cup of coffee.

Yes, I called it small. And I know of one little critter who says the same thing (NSFW/profanity).

Sad to say, my Cuisinart (Kuerig) machine failed after 2 years. This makes my 3rd machine to fail in the 4 or 5 years I've used this system. The problem is with the pump. They fail after a year or two. Do a google search and you'll it's a common problem. It bums me out because I really like the convenience, and also the K-Cups I use.

I have to say one thing about Costco, they really stand behind the products they sell. They took it back no questions asked. I did show them my receipt which shows the purchase date and they still took it back!

I think I might buy one of their commercial grade machines. Hopefully I'll have better luck with them...

I know a lot of people who had pumps fail yet mine is now almost 5 years old and still going strong.

4 to 5 a day.

Strange why mine never last that long. Our water quality is excellent. I also have dedicated charcoal filtering for my drinking water. The pump's motor doesn't fail, it's the impeller that wears out. Plus the bearings make a racket after a while. They need to beef those areas up.

Had my cuisinart fail after 5 months and Costco took it back no problem, lady put it with the other 2 she had taken back that day. This current one has lasted longer than the first so that's good. I will say though when/if this one goes out i'm going back to a regular drip coffee maker.

i was gonna get a bodum myself but keurig's are apparently on sale everywhere right now

really like to start saving money on coffee. i have a cheap tassimo but its all dusty now

I like the Tully Italian Roast and Green Mountain Sumatran Reserve...

I've tried a few others, including donut shop, newmans, and some of the other green mountain roasts and thought most of them tasted bitter and had an unpleasant aftertaste.

The first machine I had (similar to keurig platinum, bought it as a kit at BJ's), had the pump fail within 30 days. Returned it to BJ's, that one lasted about 6 months and Keurig kindly sent me a new one, didn't even ask for the old one back. This latest one is probably about 18 months old now.

Two things I really dislike about keurigs are the price of the Kcups, Im averaging a over $100 usd a month on these puppies, and the fact that the kcups are not recyclable.

Wirelessly posted

Love my Keurig. 8:15 here in Michigan and this thread has inspired me to get out of bed. Green Mountain....here I come!

I see Keurig is pushing a new k-cup design lately - I wonder if that has anything to do with the patents expiring on the k-cup design.

I use my Keurig all the time, but I find that first time I use it in the morning, the water pours back into the reservoir while making the coffee so I have like a 1/4 cup of coffee made and I have to redo it agin.
