I have no clue... I just take people's usernames and add them in. Send me a PM with your username if you want to join! ;)

Those of you joining and planning to use the AIM messenger app in el capitan, keep in mind that its kinda buggy since it hasnt been updated since 2013. I noticed that if I always remember to sign out first, then quit, it wont crash, but quitting while signed in, causes it to freeze up and I have to force quit it.

No issues on Windows, or the AIM app for PowerPC, lol

I guess being a part of this is similar to being a part of the MUG... I like it :)

never thought of it like that, lol. The AIM chat is sadly dead with little to no activity, however, my Invite-only Slack (moved there from iMessage) is bustling as it has been for about a year now.

I used to look forward to going to MUG meetings to share in knowledge as well as gain knowledge. I have always found it interesting to see how others deal with various issues associated with our computer platforms as well as see what they have done to their setup... so when you came out with this thread, this is the thought that came to mind... :)

I got a real start with a Commodore 64 UG. Back in 1984 when I was 13.

The UG had a BBS and once I discovered modems and BBSes I was hooked.

Used to enjoy BBSes the most. Have one half setup but never finished it.
Yeah, that's what got me started in online.

When I was 16 I ran a BBS that was online for an hour a night and from 9 to midnight on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Commodore 64 running All American BBS. Later I migrated to a C128 and was using two 1581 drives.

I tried to maintain it when I went to PC in 1990, but by then I was doing work and school so it kind of fell by the wayside.

Got my own line for it at one point and then had it up 24 hours. Got the line taken away when I racked up a little over $300 in long distance charges for calling other BBSes. :D

If this is still going, then I'll be a part. Unless everybody really wants me to stay out of it. :p
EDIT: It's Slack now, and not AIM, right?

The AIM chat has since been shut down with several members moving into a private chat with each other on Slack. However, with enough interest, I'd be all for opening up a new AIM chat. Just don't want only 3 people in it, since that'll get boring...

Tell you what, give me an hour or 2 and I'll set a new AIM chat up. I'll just need usernames on AIM in order to invite anyone who wants to join. This can be done either here or on PM.
