I don't really any problems with Slack, I just don't see what's wrong with AIM. aim.com can be accessed through a web browser and it's also really fast through TFFb. We also have iChat on PPC (it doesn't load previous messages, though). My opinion is that we should keep using AIM, but if you think we should go with Slack, I'm fine with it.MEMBER UPDATE-
Hello chat members, glad to say the chat is doing much better than the previous attempt. I'm really glad that I brought the chat back. However, there are some problems with the chat in its current state. AIM isn't the smoothest platform in the world, and the native app isn't even supported on PPC anymore. The apps in general on both Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android are also awful. With that being said, I say we should migrate the AIM chat over to Slack. My private group chat was previously on iMessage, which was a disaster. We then moved to Slack and it's been a pleasure and a joy to use. Best of all, Slack allows you to chat via IRC, therefore PPC compatibility is present through apps like Adium, which most of you are currently using anyway. Besides this, making Slack into a TenFourFoxBox with eyoungren's tweaks makes it feel like the native app on Windows 7+, Mac OS 10.6+, iOS 7+, Android. There's also a web-client that can be accessed from anywhere. Signup is easy, all I need is your email and I send you an invite through Slack. It sends you a link, tells you how to setup an account for the chat (it's a new account for every Slack you are a part of), and then all you need to do is sign into the apps you want to use. I'd pin the link to the IRC information so that any members using PPC can easily set that up too.
So here's what the point of this message is, does anyone object to or have concerns with moving to Slack? Please let me know either by replying here, PMing me here, or DMing me on AIM.

The AIM app works really well for me (using Lion). And I've never had these bugs. Like I said, I have no problem with moving to Slack. I just don't think AIM is all that bad.Slack has IRC support making it far more compatible than AIM, especially with OS 9. The AIM clients for everything suck in a group chat, its hard to distinguish who's talking and I can't upload photos from the AIM iOS client, and it also bugs out on my desktop. The official AIM client sucks balls (ads) and Adium has issues (Freezes my machine)
Do you like ads? Just remember, the world doesn't revolve around what you use. Most of us use Leopard or El Capitan (big difference). The Adium and AIM clients were built in the Snow Leopard/Lion era, so its death by a thousand cuts. Also, slowness and speeding you can ignore since you use an iPad 1, iPhone 1G and PowerPCs daily. The AIM app works really well for me (using Lion). And I've never had these bugs. Recently upgraded to a 3GS. Much faster. Much nicer.Do you like ads? Just remember, the world doesn't revolve around what you use. Most of us use Leopard or El Capitan (big difference). He pretty much asked for what we thought and what concerns we had. I said that in my opinion, we shouldn't go to the trouble. Do you have a problem with me saying that? Just tell @Gamer9430 what you think and move on. No need to make (unsuccessful) attempts to prove me wrong.
I'll just mention this.Recently upgraded to a 3GS. Much faster. Much nicer.

That Slack had some people who were hard to get along with, and rather unsavory in general. This Slack will not be as exclusive as that Slack chat was, plus it is way easier to connect and talk with on our phones, therefore easily reachable.I'll just mention this.
We've been on Slack for a while now. Some may continue to participate in the AIM group (I never did) but if you want to engage in any real discussion with the majority of the members here, it's on Slack.
Not trying to change your opinion or alter your choice of what to use - just informing you that everyone else is over here (Slack) and not over there (AIM).
PS. Adium will run on Tiger (if that's what you use) and it's easy to hook up the IRC details for the Slack chat on Adium.

Just to be sure: You're not talking about the exclusive Slack that is currently running, right? Because that would be way off if that were the case. Don't want to get too off topic, but I'd just like to know. That Slack had some people who were hard to get along with, and rather unsavory in general. This Slack will not be as exclusive as that Slack chat was, plus it is way easier to connect and talk with on our phones, therefore easily reachable.
Slack can be setup so that you can connect to it in an IRC client, such as Adium. Only things are that you can't see images or embedded media, which others can in the Slack webclient, but I think AIM doesn't have that either, so on that point you wouldn't be losing much.Yeah if its what everyone is using and works with Adium which is what Im used to using, sounds delicious.
Speak for yourself. That Slack had some people who were hard to get along with, and rather unsavory in general.
Not mentioning who Danny, I'm just stating that the exclusive slack chat had some people who I'm glad aren't in my contact anymore, for decently good reasons. If you care so much, PM me, and you can hear the full scoop instead of tasting the spoon from one side.Speak for yourself.
Feel free to invite meAlright, so I guess we're moving to Slack. And yes, Henry was correct, all I said was that we could VOTE on moving to Slack, unlike Keaton who said "we're moving to Slack and that's final". Regardless, I'll be setting up the Slack and reinviting everyone
Yeah, like the times you were acting up way worse than anyone else. I'm not naming names, but the majority agreed that you could act up as well. So don't pretend like you're a saint either. Now, it seems everyone is happier on Slack! Glad everyone made it over!
