Did a single one of these shills receive one of the crippled 256GB SSD models for review?
She filled a 1TB drive with the FCP project she was discussing during her review, why would she bother reviewing a tiny drive she simply wouldn't use. The things she would use a base model for wouldn't really show issues related to the slower SSD.

Why? She's going to be excited and go on and on about how awesome and amazing it is without providing ANY surface-level insight. I'm not a "hater" and generally avoid anything to do with her "content" but it's mostly paid advertisements from someone people like to look at. There are far more in-depth people online that deserve time.
There were some comments here that were (rightfully) moderated since, OP was referring to them. Some of these were definitely hateful. Your comment is a fair critic of her work, and I agree with it.

Posting the same benchmarks that everyone posts is boring and irrelevant to actual real world use; I like that she talks about how it did with her workflow which is video editing. In a tech world full of jaded people I like that she gets excited about using these things. If I want hard numbers I'll get them from a different source.
I could have commented on her content but, I did that in another thread. I chose to say something good about her apart from the other.

You really think Apple would provide review units to the likes of Luke Miani? (And I don't even mention Max Tech.) HIGHLY unlikely.
LM does not spend any money on the computers he reviews. Buying and returning is the same thing as getting a free review unit.

At the end of the day, it’s the ‘MacBook Air’, it was never intended to be a target for video editing, photography and DAW machine. This the machine you use for Word, edit those vacation videos, catch up on email, maybe a light coding, maybe a few scripts, listen to streaming music, watch YouTube on, walk around the yard or the house with and admire for its thin design.

If you want a mobile workstation, Apple has the 14 and 16 inch. Like this has been repeated tirelessly on the forum.

I do think Apple needs to have a middle ground machine though. A 15 inch MacBook Pro with the MacBook Air design for 1,799 with a fan for doing a little bit more. It would be awkward with the Air. But for those who just want mag safe, larger screen, it would be a great value. Yes, it would cannibalize the 16 and 14 inch.

I used an M1 Macbook Air and could do all the coding I needed which I don't consider to be anything but light.

You're very, very wildly underselling the machine's capabilities.

As it will be better than the M1 it's an extremely capable machine used for FAR more than you're dismissing it for.

The notch needs to go.
There’s more than plenty enough space to fit the camera on the borders.
I don’t really care about the notch being there, but what really seems strange about it is that it’s a design language taken from the iPhone, that from the leaks seems like it is going away or at least changing. So why would the laptop team use this look, if it’s a short-term thing? I’ll answer my own question - the notch design was supposed to contain FaceID hardware, but chip shortages drove availability issues and costs higher, which forced Apple to drop the idea…for now.

because you can have smaller bezels and put the camera in the bezel like dell does
Dell has a 720p camera, Apple has a 1080p camera. Probably easier to fit a smaller webcam in a tiny bezel.

In a broader sense, Windows computer can't have a notch because their TaskBar is at the bottom of the screen, not the top.

When it comes to webcams, Asus literally thought outside of the box. It's such a bonkers solution I kind of love it.

I love it. If I were running the Macrumors podcast, I’d have iJustine on too if she were willing— even just to troll all the haters 😂

She has a specific brand and type of entertainment she produces— clearly not catering to hardcore tech nerds. I can count on one hand the number of her videos I’ve watched in recent years (which is still more than the other names people keep throwing around, I guess I’m more likely to read and listen to other podcasts), but so what? No one is forcing anyone to watch them… let alone open their browser to the MacRumors homepage. :)

The iJustine and Notch hate in here is nuts. iJustine has been around forever and provides entertaining reviews of Apple products. Yes, they are very positive. If you don't want to watch her, then don't. The notch is barely noticeable at all and I like that my 14inch M1 MBP has the same footprint as a 13inch. The thin bezels do enhance the experience of using this laptop.
