Take a look at NVKush. It has solved most of my video problems.

ok thats a very good idea!!

i have the installer "NVInstaller" which is pretty much a GUI version to install the graphics, which do you think would be the most effective way for installing it properly?

thankyou for your help, i really appreciate it!

Missed the hardware model you have but have you tried the EFI strings method? That way any time you upgrade the OS your string always remains the same so the hardware will just continue to work I use it for my 8800gt works great.

not really too sure on how id do that, id have to find some walkthrough for that.

i have an 8500gt 512mb. pretty crappy i know, its just for basic stuff. i want to be able to play games!!!! apparently it doesnt even have 16mb of VRAM!!

I am triple booting on my current build and my atom hackintosh parts should be here by tuesday! :)

I am curious why you are planning to build an Atom Hackintosh when you already have a Core2Duo.

Building computers is addictive, and I have been thinking of building another Hackintosh. But I am going to wait to see what the next generation of chips brings.

wow thankyou so much for that man. i instantly found a few sites and drivers. i will try these when i get home (got 8 hours of uni straight, im only in my 1st hour hahahah).

thanks again!
Your welcome hopefully that will get you going. BTW a little off topic but I see your from down under don't suppose you know where to get any downloads of the AFL playoff games? If so could you PM me with the links I have already watched the Collingwood-Adelaide so would not need that one.

I was hoping someone would ask! I am replacing my Ubuntu server box with this atom box. It should be a simple server solution for now and could be a future media center. I will post pics tomorrow after I get it up and running

Not agreeing with an EULA which may or may not have any relevance depending on the country you live in is not against the law at most it is a supposed contract violation but even that is debatable because for a contract you need informed consent which you cannot give because you do not get to read and sign the agreement before purchasing the item. While I am on about the EULA I can tell you it will be a cold day in hell before I let Apple restrict when, where and how I run GPL software as they try to in the EULA by limiting your use to Apple labeled hardware when the GPL clearly states you can place no further restrictions when you redistribute their software. I paid for the Apple portion when I got my Leopard install disk for the GPL part I choose to exercise my rights under the GPL to use their software without restriction this includes running it on any hardware I damn well choose to do so on.

Wow, that was very nicely put. :)

hackintosh

my little bit
i use to a windows only person until i build my first hackintosh
and now i have a imac and im getting a mac book pro. because i run final cut pro a on my hackintosh and now im hooked so i think hackintosh is goooooooooood for apple

You know what's sad? Once you get your Hackintosh working 100%, it's still more stable and reliable than Vista. :p:rolleyes:

My Hackintosh has not crashed yet. My Apple Macs crash more than I would like to admit. My Windows XP crashes about once a week, and I will never use Vista!

I have to reboot my hackintosh much more than my macbook, I'm not gonna lie. It's still more stable than Vista or XP though :)

My Hackintosh is much more stable than my Macbook. Just because I have 4GB of ram in my Macbook, all I have to do is open DVD Player to get an instant kernel panic. Nice job Apple!!!

You could try something like maxmem=3072 or maybe even up to 3456 as long as it is under 3.5gb in your server flags section of the /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist it should look like this when done editing.

Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple Computer//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">
<plist version="1.0">
<dict>
	<key>Kernel</key>
	<string>mach_kernel</string>
	<key>Kernel Flags</key>
	<string>maxmem=3072</string>

I think your getting the same error you do on a Hack with 4gb or more memory due to the IDE controller.

I suppose you'd never have sat down and considered you have a faulty machine?. Yeah - and I suppose really, it's Apple's fault their machines are not as perfect as your impeccible standards expect. There is this thing called MTBF dude - I suggest you read up on that. The fact that you haven't been and told them, and got it fixed is even MORE fuel for the fire; convenient! ;).

Nothing is perfect - they don't sprinkle "Apple dust" when they make them, but you could always get if fixed. The way the net portrays disproportionate amounts of "people" (cut and pasted phantom cases) with faults, is hilariously transparent. Get it repaired, I think you'll find that the majority are more than happy with their MacBooks... but then again... you always get the one who uses little details to make a stupid comparison. Maybe you could try re-installing OS X - have you tried that?.

Maybe you didn't observe proper static draining and grounding practice; many an "expert" - even a friend of mine who OWNS A PC BUSINESS - don't ground themselves first. Okay so your MB fails, so that - by default - strengthens your somewhat weak argument...?.

Oh please - have a nice day!.

Obviously he doesn't realize that because a good working copy of OS X should free of those problems on a real mac or a hackintosh.
