Okay, thanks. I already have an iMac which is my primary computer and I use my laptop mainly as a torrent downloader and my parents use it for net surfing sometimes, so because its usage is so tiny, I would not like to spend 2 weeks of my summer holiday searching the solutions and downloading different OS Xs.

I'm planning to buy MacBook (Air?) in autumn when I got pay from my summer job and maybe a custom Hackintosh gaming PC on mid 2010.

I think I give up. It already runs W7 so I guess I'll stick with it.

hmm yea seems like (for now) its not really worth it for you, too much hassle and whathot. have patience and everything will work out fine :):)

Also as of today the dell mini 9 has just been discontinued by dell:(

As far as I know this is still the only netbook that is truly 100% os x compatible.

Sorry Apple. But I just love how small this netbook is.

That chart needs updating. Audio I/O was fixed on the MSi Wind U100 some weeks back. Took about three months of testing an audio kext written from the ground up (big kudos to the Voodoo team for that), but now my Wind is fully OSX compatible and happily running 10.5.7.

Guys im so frustrated i really need help, i wasted 4 hours trying to install osx on my hp laptop (amd) but i couldnt even get the dvd to boot, i put my dvd in and windows will just come up, i also presses f10 and f12 but i didnt get any option to boot from the dvd. im using the "iATKOS_v1.0ir2" file size is 2.44GB
what's wrong? i also tried burning the file to the dvd-r on my mac but always got a "medium error" im loosing it. so i used my stupid vista to burn with the native program. i have no dvds left ): ill buy more and see if i can burn again.

i also tried putting in my restore osx dvd that came with my mac but it only has the macbook air osx installation setup.

I burn the DVDs in Windows with ISO Burner using the slowest speed possible to get the best write. I also learned it is best to use DVDRW medium.

It is more difficult to Hackintosh AMD processors; several more steps involved.

Whats the model no of your laptop, Schneider? I've burned iPC at 16x and it works perfectly, you just might need a setting tweaked or something.

im downloading ideneb v1.4 now, will ipc be better? thanks

Edit, just bought a pack of 100 Sony DVD-R x16 and installed the new Roxio Toast 10, all is working great, im burnin on x2 speed :) now for the booting

i still cant boot from the dvd!

OK guys, I've ran into my first bit of hassle on the Hackintosh. I'm trying to pair a white plastic apple keyboard with the bluetooth dongle. The dongle picks the keyboard up straight away, I select it and it gives me the numbers but for some reason it won't seem to pair with it. First time it just didn't respond and now it just doesn't recognise when I type the code in.

Any help?

It was once paired with another system and probably wasn't unpaired - could that be the problem?

To people looking for a solution and have found this page, here is what I did...

Download OSX 10.5.5 combo update from the apple website, right click on the package inside the dmg and open with Pacifist (you'll probably need to download this) and go to system/library/extensions and extract IOBluetoothFamily.kext and IOBluetoothHIDDriver.kext - then put them in Macintosh HD>system>library>extensions.

Restart.

Did you change the boot order from your BIOS? HD is usually the number 1 so you have to make your optical drive number 1 in boot order

yeah, check your bios or something. It should be able to boot from the disc a little, even if its a bad burn (you'll just get errors later if its a bad burn).

It might just be a goofy bios setting or something.

Ok so yes i can boot using the recovery hp dvd for vista, so what's the problem?

It seems that your disc image is bad or its not being burned correctly. See if you can find the torrent data for the disc you downloaded and check the mda5 hash. If they match then the image isnt being burned right for some reason. Try using ImgBurn on windows if you can. Thats all i use to burn discs and its never let me down.

Right guys, I've got another problem.

I put windows 7 on a partition of my drive (same as leopard iPC) and now I can't boot into mac. Any chance of some help?

is there some sort of mac "boot chooser" (similar to the bootcamp app) where i can choose the startup disc whilst still in OSX?? i have my xp on another volume, its annoying to have to hit F12 then select the boot drive each time :(

Theres none that i know of unless someone writes an app that sets the xp partition active, but then you would have to set the osx partition as active when booted into xp. Its probably just easier to use chameleon.

Apple's lack of a mid-tower in their product lineup has got me thinking of building a hackitosh. I love my iMac but I hate its lack of expandability beyond ram/hard drive. This thread has been very useful. Now I just need to convince the wife we need another computer. :)

Is there any way to patch a Leopard or SL DMG, so I can add the GTX260 drivers (and any others) into the install?

I have

Asus P5Q deluxe
Q9550
GTX260
A couple of unused Sata 500GB drives

Since I don't have a out of the box compatible video (among other things), is there any way to take all of the individual components and patch them into the install DVD?

If not, what are my options. I've never done the Hackintosh thing and haven't gotten too far in my efforts.

I have used the boot-132 iso and it boots fine. When I install the Leopard DVD, it does some hidden stuff, and ultimately goes nowhere. I'm not shocked, but the lack of a supported video card is really a PITA.

My intent was to use the recently released Nvidia drivers / pacifist to pull all the files. I'm also aware of the netkas injector, which isn't very helpful at this point until I have a base OS installed.

Any help at this point would be appreciated.

Im sure a disc could be made, but idk much about that. Send an email to ~PcWiz and he will probably help you out.

If you dual-boot you could install using no gfx drivers then add them later through xp/vista/7 using transmac or macdrive. Or you could put the kext on a thumb drive, boot into the install disc, and copy it over to the extensions folder using terminal, then repair permissions using DiskUtil. Not an easy way, but it will work.
