So, your actual reason for returning it was because you couldn't resell it with a defective bracelet?

Why make a huge list? Most of the stuff you listed was fully disclosed before preorders started.

Instead of returning it I thought I could've sold it. Defective bracelet has nothing to do with my return. If i wanted to keep it I could have just got a replacement bracelet.

I could've but honestly I wanted to bring attention/awareness to others buying the watch as well and usually people don't go in threads and start reading every single post. So I thought a new thread on a buyers point of view of the apple watch can help others on their decisions. I thought the Apple watch was more than what the iPhone could've done. But I was incorrect. Maybe 2nd gen or 3rd gen would be good.

I remembered buying iPad 1 and now I'm using the iPad air 2 - really big difference. Incomparable.

I'm sorry, you're not comparing the next generation of the watch to the gap between the first iPad from what, 5-6 years ago to the Air 2 are you? I don't think there will be 5-6 years of development and learning between this and the next version, or even the one after that...

No disrespect intended, but couldn't you just posted on one of the MANY threads on this topic?

A lot of the people who are praising the AW could do the same but they do not. So..............

I agree somewhat with the OP as I ended up taking my phone out anyway, most the time. I like my 6+ it is why I got one. The watch was more of a complication rather than a help for me. It is gone now and I do not miss it.

Hah...did you even watch the address from WWDC before you posted this? The new update adds some of the stuff you listed.

I can't wait until mine comes. Working in an office 8 hours or more a day with a ton of time in meetings, the watch will be a lifesaver for recieving and responding to messages without being a "phone watcher" like everyone else in the room.

The added/modified features announced yesterday are still months away from arriving, so it makes little sense for anyone to keep a watch right now that doesn't do what they want, when they can easily buy again when the new OS is out in the fall.

Personally, I like my Apple watch as it is right now, and it makes my workdays so much easier to be able to triage incoming calls, texts and emails without continually having to pull my iPhone out and unlock it with the never-quite-right touch ID, but I can understand why those who bought one to try it out and then found it doesn't represent good value for money for themselves when they've used it would want to return it.

Developer beta out now...public beta in a month...yes, full release in 90 days or so.

Still don't understand how well known features (or lack there of) could be used as an excuse to return an item. Sounds like someone got caught in the "I have to have the latest gadget" craze.

I think those with battery issues have a defect. I have never gotten under 50% with 15 hour days.

Bluetooth battery use is insignificant. This was a 2001 issue. I watched almost 3 hours of the keynote on my 6 plus and still had 45% battery after 15 hours off charge.

I knew going into the Watch that its not something meant to be played with or interacted with like a phone or tablet. It's there to coincide with your phone and take away some of the duties.

If I opted in for a SS Watch I'd have a bit of buyers remorse. However, I bought the 42mm SG and am happy with my investment.

I just sent my 42mm space black link bracelet apple watch back to apple.

Reasons for return. (Mini review)

1. iPhone can do the same things + more than the watch can.
2. Battery life was horrible (Had to charge once a day)
3. Effected iPhone battery as well
4. My link bracelet had issues I have a thread with pictures (if anyone wants to take a peak)
5. Couldn't reply back to emails
6. Couldn't reply back to messages unless using siri (Don't want others around me to hear what I have to say)
7. Made few calls on it didn't think the speakers/quality was good enough.

What I liked.
1. Beautiful design
2. Map was awesome
3. Quick notification on your wrist

Final thoughts : In my personal opinion I don't think its worth $1099 + tax $1190 (CA TAX) for the apple watch just because its just your iPhone on your wrist. I just didn't find it useful to me. Whatever I can do on my phone was just the same thing I could've done on the watch.

My thoughts for now on the first gen Apple watch.

Could my money was tied, and I should not be ordering a $1200 watch to start with, but I could not resist it, since trying out a brand new Apple device is more important than paying bill also be one of reason?

Just curious, but would you feel the same if you got the more reasonably priced model?

I bought a pair of Sports for the husband and I. I like the idea behind wearable tech but it just felt like this was a product trying too hard to be its own category that it forgot that it's supposed to simply be an accessory. And its hard to call something an accessory when it requires more user interaction and management than the device it's supposed to be simplifying.

(Note: We got rid of both of our watches but I actually reordered a 42mm for me. I have tiny wrists but I like the look of big watches and I'm curious to see if a larger screen will change my user experience at all.)

It's not so much when the beta versions are out because most members of the public don't mess with pre-release software - with good reason. And since the full release is not until sometime in the fall - potentially as much as 4-5 months - it's understandable why some people aren't willing to wait.

As far as what motivates people to buy something like the Apple watch, I tend to think it's a pointless exercise trying to work it out. No doubt there are some who buy because they must have the latest gadget, but I suspect for most it's a genuine purchasing decision based on what they think it will do for them. Some of us already have an idea because we owned a smartwatch before, so know what benefits to expect, others don't know if features such as notifications or the fitness app, or complications and glances will help or suit them until they try. And of course there are always likely to be some who buy first then think afterwards.

Umm. Up thread you said you bought it with the intention to resell it.

TBH I bought it to resell it for a profit but I also had my eye on it. So I decide it to keep it and use it and see if I like it or not. I only used it for 8 days I received it on June 1st. I thought about reselling it on eBay but since the clasp has issues I figured why sell it and deal with issues with the buyer or even sell someone the watch that has a faulty bracelet. So i just wrapped it up in the same box it came in and printed the fedex return label and off it went.

See? "I bought it to resell it for a profit..."

This does not indicate to me that you had any intentions of keeping it when you ordered it.

A watch is not an investment. It depreciates in value.

What does it matter to you if I wanted to sell or or use it or try it or keep it?

This thread was made to let other buyers know the reason for my return. My thoughts behind this product. If you don't like what I have to say not sure why your commenting on this thread comment elsewhere. Thanks

Definitely not. If money was an issue I wouldn't even be looking at this model plus all models do the same thing don't they? If money was an issue I would've went with the space gray.

Yes of course I would feel the same way. Because all of the watches do the same exact thing. Money was not an issue to begin with. But at the end of the day it all depends on personal opinions. If you like it and it's useful to you keep it. I used my phone 80% of the time more than I did when the watch was on my wrist. Also, I think the 42mm is perfect.

My thoughts for now on the first gen Apple watch.

1.) Obviously?
2.) Did you not read Apple's battery life info?
3.) A permanently connected BT device will obviously do that, but if you use your Watch a lot more instead of the iPhone, this simply isn't true.
4.) Fair enough. Get a replacement?
5.) Coming in watchOS 2.0.
6.). How did you think you were going to reply??
7.) Subjective. Fair enough.

Seems to me you never wanted it in the first place.

I love my Watch.

Why do you love it? Can you share with me your point of view.

Absolutely. I love the instant Siri access without having to pull my phone out. As many of us with a 6 Plus know, the user experience is great, but having to take out the mammoth phone and put it back in one's pocket cam be a nuisance. Siri is really great, and in watchOS 2.0 she'll be even better.

I really like seeing my calendar at a glance, the weather at a glance, being able to dictate long messages through Siri without pulling my phone out. It's handy when I'm out and about in the garage/yard and a call comes in. I can quickly answer it without having to take my phone out. Notice the trend? It's about being less tethered to my phone, and being able to do things without my hands being tied up with a device in it. I really like the Maps aspect when walking around, too.

What else... I have a SkyBell on my front door, so when my doorbell rings it's nice to get that notification right on my Watch.

I also like being able to control my music from the Watch. Again, it's about freeing me from my huge phone which I take in and out of my pocket WAY too much.

And I haven't even touched on the fitness aspect. Doing workouts is so much more fun when you have goals set on the Watch.

Oh, and I really like actually having a watch on my wrist to... you know... tell the time. :)

Also, my wife also has one, and we send taps and sketches to each other throughout the day.

Does anyone *need* an Apple Watch? Probably not. But quite honestly that argument is so silly these days. I don't need 99% of the things I own. But do I enjoy the heck of of (most) of those things.

This is a forum. I can pretty much comment wherever I like.

My point was that your list of complaints were odd for someone who bought it to scalp it in the first place and it read a bit like someone who had no clue what the watch was supposed to do in the first place.

I don't much care if people don't like the watch and return it, but it's a bit disingenuous to create a separate thread with a long list of reasons why you're not keeping a watch you never intended to keep.

If you cannot see why that's misleading to readers, I dunno what to tell you, man.

He didn't. He stated quite clearly that he bought it to resell it.

I'm not personally swayed by his list either way. Like you, I enjoy my watch and knew what I was buying when I bought it.

I just dislike these types of threads because they're deliberately misleading.

Congrats. The battery life thing is ridiculous, the watch has a live running bluetooth connection for up to 24 hours (for me) amongst other functions all day long. I'll say that's pretty amazing!

ps, it's a watch, and I personally LOVE mine.

You'll regret your choice
