Yeah the battery life complaint is getting old. It's a full computer with a high rez OLED display on your wrist. OF COURSE the battery doesn't last as long as a Casio digital chronograph. It does last well over a typical day of use and Apple made it super simple to recharge it.

He didn't. He stated quite clearly that he bought it to resell it.

I'm not personally swayed by his list either way. Like you, I enjoy my watch and knew what I was buying when I bought it.

I just dislike these types of threads because they're deliberately misleading.

Which part is misleading?

Which part is misleading?

The part where you didn't research the watch at all, you bought it to resell (scalp) it, then you posted an article explaining why you returned a watch you'd never planned to keep.

If you'd began your initial post with "I bought X variety Apple Watch to resell it, but decided to try it out for myself. Here's my viewpoint" I think it would've been a more honest review.

As it is, it reads like you eagerly purchased a watch because you wanted one, and discovered a laundry list of problems that Apple cleverly hid from public knowledge.

This simply isn't the case.

You'll need to find it and quote it then as I've read through this thread twice and don't see where he said that.

I think he said he "could have" even with the broken strap...I don't think it says anywhere that selling was his original intent.

Yes I could have. Even if I had my mind on selling it I would've sold it without even having intentions of opening it.

But I really loved the design and the price was not an issue ($1200) just wish it could have done more stuff that was more appealing and useful to me. But I can do almost everything + more on iPhone. Hopefully I can repurchase one in the near future. And that's a cute bunny on your display picture :].

It's a vampire bunny. ;)

I understand being underwhelmed by the watch functions right now. I had to do a lot of reading and prepare myself for basically a long beta test. I enjoy mine, but it's freed me from having to carry my phone instead of tossing it into my bag. I like that.

1,2,5&6 we knew before the watch was released, I must say whilst I'm sure the watch is not for everyone, it's been great for what I use it for notifications, I hardly ever check my phone so to have everything come through to the watch is great.

Which watch model you purchased? The only watch i find appealing to me is the link bracelet models either the silver or space black but than $1000-1200 just to use it for notifications ... o_O I dunno if that will be $ well spent. Im just currently going back and forth even though I returned the watch Im still in 2nd doubt/thinking about the watch.

Returned my Spaceblack. Most the time the notification required I use my phone and therefore it was not helping much. Heck I bought my 6+ because I liked it and the screen. Hoping for a good fitness tracker but the AW fails compared to products that cost a quarter of what the watch cost. The AW was nice looking but not too practical for my needs. Haptic was too weak and if in a noisy environment the little ding is a joke.

I could've but honestly I wanted to bring attention/awareness to others buying the watch as well and usually people don't go in threads and start reading every single post. So I thought a new thread on a buyers point of view of the apple watch can help others on their decisions. I thought the Apple watch was more than what the iPhone could've done. But I was incorrect. Maybe 2nd gen or 3rd gen would be good.

I remembered buying iPad 1 and now I'm using the iPad air 2 - really big difference. Incomparable.
So you wanted to make sure you got some attention..... Yeah ok.
So why did you think you're opinion would be unique when compared to the 20 other "I returned my apple watch" threads? Just wondering.

PLUS judging from your statement you did little to no research before purchasing the watch because you would have known you didn't want it before you purchased it if you had.

I'm not completely satisfied with my SG BSB Apple watch but I'm keeping it. The battery life is adequate but I'd prefer multiple day battery life. The effect on my iPhone 6 battery life is that I have to charge at least twice a day. The launch time for apps/glances is often quite awful. I've taken a phone call on the watch and the sound was horrible. I won't make that mistake again. The heart rate monitor not working DURING a workout is almost a deal breaker. It's really an epic failure to offer a heart rate monitor then shut it off as soon as I start a workout. Epic. Fail. Any or all of these might be enough ammunition to justify returning the watch if it didn't have features that I DO like...

Apple watch does have features I do like. I use runkeeper to track my walking, biking and running. I can glance at my wrist with "raise wrist opens last active app" enabled in settings within the Apple watch app on my iPhone and my pace/time/distance are right there whenever I raise my wrist. I reply to quite a few text messages right from my wrist when short phrases like "yes" "no" or an emoji will do. I've even used Siri when I was in a location where I didn't mind speaking my text out loud. I have used ApplePay with my watch and I love the ability to pay for something that conveniently. I can view email on my wrist as well as check the weather. And about the weather. I LOVE the weather app on the Apple watch. From any watch screen which shows outdoor temp, simply tap the temp and you get a "watch" with icons around the outside for rain/sun/clouds for weather for the next 12ish hours. Brilliant! Then there's the photos app. Any photo I've marked as a favorite on my iPhone simply shows up on the photos app on the watch so I can view it on my wrist, albeit on a tiny screen.

So for me the issue is not whether the watch does something my phone cannot do, it's whether it does things I'd rather be able to do without digging for my phone and the answer is yes. So my watch isn't going back to Apple any time soon. I am hoping iOS and Apple Watch software updates address the heart rate monitor epic fail and battery life issues soon.

The effect on my iPhone 6 battery life is that I have to charge at least twice a day.

Something isn't right, because my iPhone 6+ battery life is actually BETTER with the watch, or worst case the same. I imagine it depends heavily on how you use each device, but I've got to think your situation is unusual and perhaps after the next patch to iOS and WatchOS you will see significant improvement.

... I am not sure it is safe.

I am new to the forum but have been lurking for a while.
I bought the apple watch the first day it came out (42 Space Grey Sport). I enjoyed tracking my heart rate, making calls on my wrist, controlling my music, sending doodles to my friends who had a watch, and also asking siri for game scores. I got what I bargained for and was very happy with my purchase. I even was critical of all the writers who criticized it for not doing more...I thought it was a awesome. As a watch and also tech enthusiast I was very satisfied with the apple watch. Anyway, I had been enjoying my watch for a couple weeks until I ran into my EMF reader in my tool box.

I decided to use it on my apple watch, iphone, ipad, tv, microwave and refrigerator. What I found was that my microwave and apple watch produced the highest readings, 0.58 tesla on my microwave and 0.39 on my apple watch. The iphone was around 0.08 and the TV, refrigerator, and ipad didn't give much of a consistent reading.

I am not a health nut but this concerned me...especially since the watch is always on my wrist.

Last week, I decided it was better to be safe than sorry and returned my space gray and the additional white sports band I had purchased. I was embarrassed to tell the apple rep at the store why I was returning it out of fear of being labeled a health nut ,but I told her anyway. She must have thought it was a stupid reason because she said I would get more radiation from stepping outside in the sun everyday. I have heard that comment before from my dentist when I tell her to forgo x-raying my mouth every time I go in for a cleaning.

I am still a bit sad I returned it because I enjoyed the watch very much but I feel like I made the right decision. I am sure I will get over the loss soon.

I know people may bash this post but it brings up an interesting discussion and should be given some thought. Hopefully companies will do the same and continue to study the safety of their technology and we wont have to live with any insecurity or paranoia. Truth is, apple and Samsung have not shown evidence that their wearable tech is safe or unsafe. We just don't know.

Your iPhone has a much larger potential to do damage. I would suggest that you return any wireless device you may carry!

This is no joke!

My father worked in a power plant his entire career. Every day he worked within mere feet of equipment, such as generators the size of locomotives, electrical transformers, and transmission lines, that would make the readings from your microwave and Apple Watch look like a joke. Neither he, nor his coworkers, ever experienced any ill effects that could be in any way construed to be the result of exposure to EM radiation. Those silly arguments are nothing but FUD.

Hope the DWP didn't install a wireless meter on your house that can read from the middle of the street.

Was the microwave operating? Was the iPhone making a call? To make a decision like this based on 2 out of about 36 necessary data points is... hasty.

Here is what I would need to see to take this seriously:

Device Reading when OFF, Reading when in Standby, Readings when in full operation*
microwave 0, ? , .58? (cooking full power)
iphone 0, .08?, ? (during a call)
apple watch 0, ? (display off), .39? (updating glances from an iPhone)

I list the .39 for full operation because the watch can't make calls so "full operation" for the watch is bluetooth going full blast trying to connect to the iPhone.

*I mentioned 36 readings above but I've only listed 6. All of the above "full operation" readings would need to be taken from various (about 6) angles each. You might find the watch radiates away from the wrist just as the phone is designed with its antenna furthest from the earpiece.
