I am so sick of the media just going on and on about LeBron James, seriously this is terrible. James really hasn't played well at all but how about talking about the Mavericks a little bit. This reminds me of the L.A. Lakers-Dallas series when the media was all about how Los Angeles lost and nothing about how good Dallas was playing.

anyone else looking forward to LOTS of LeBron James on SPORTSCENTER? :D

/sarcasm

I asked LeBron for change of a dollar and all he gave me was 75 cents. He said "Sorry I got no 4th quarter".

i'll put up with it if they spend the next year talking about how lebron still couldn't win with his superteam.

instead of talking about how determined the Mavericks were about winning the Ring. they'll talk about how LeBron was a phantom!

Or let's talk about Jason Terry, and how he consistently pwns the opponent, regardless of how good or bad Dirk is shooting, how frequent or infrequently Kidd turns the ball over, how effective or ineffective Barea is in any given game, etc.

Dallas is never going to get any credit for the championship (if they win). Even if they get credit, Dirk is going to get most of it, despite the obvious team concept used by the Mavs.

The important thing is that those of us in Dallas, especially the players themselves, know that it's all about the team. Everyone talks about how we can't win because we don't have enough "superstars", but what we do have is guys that want to win and want to do everything they can to play their part in making the team successful. It was so awesome hearing Tyson Chandler talk about how much he was driven to play better in game 4 because Dirk was sick and he wanted to pick up his teammate.

Sweet vindication. This MVP honor couldn't go to anyone more deserving. Congrats to Dirk because he deserves it. Mavs, you guys are troopers. Time to go drink and call in sick tomorrow. :)

Wow! I am so excited for our players and the Mavs organization in general. What a class act it was for Mark Cuban to have the original team owner and his wife there to accept the trophy as it's the first championship in team history. I'm currently out of town visiting family, but I've no doubt that D-town is rocking tonight. :D

The AAC was packed and the courtyard at Victory Plaza was full, too. Elsewhere people have gone out to celebrate. Good stuff.

Congrats to the Mav's and Dirk:D. Did any body see the "LaFraud" comments after the game. I bet ya Nike loved them too...:p

It was great to see Dirk finally get what he deserved all these years. We have Jason Terry especially to thank for coming through when Dirk wasn’t playing so well.

Classic...

CLEVELAND -- Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert got in one final shot after LeBron James fell short of an NBA title.

About 15 minutes after the Dallas Mavericks defeated James and the Miami Heat in Game 6 on Sunday night, Gilbert sent a message on his Twitter page to Mavericks owner Mark Cuban -- a statement that included a jab at James.

"Congrats to Mark C.& entire Mavs org.," Gilbert wrote. "Mavs NEVER stopped & now entire franchise gets rings. Old Lesson for all: There are NO SHORTCUTS. NONE."

Last summer, after James announced he was leaving the Cavs as a free agent after seven years to join Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh in Miami, the superstar was lambasted by Gilbert, who accused him of quitting in the playoffs the past two seasons. Gilbert also promised that karma would prevent James from winning a championship and predicted his Cavaliers would win their first title before "the self-proclaimed King" won one.

So far, Gilbert's pledge is holding up.

Gilbert wasn't the only one stung by James' decision. Cleveland fans, who haven't celebrated a major professional sports championship since the Browns won an NFL title in 1964, spent the past year coping with James' departure, which the Akron native announced in a one-hour long TV special.

Some of James' former teammates were also hurt by him leaving.

Guard Mo Williams, who was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers in February, said the Mavericks' victory has helped ease some of his pain.

On his Twitter page, Williams wrote, "Dallas just healed my HEART."

That was a really entertaining series. It was nice to see the Mavs shed the "underachiever" label and put in an admirable effort.

I think the hostility toward the Heat is way overblown. It's really just a backlash against the way LeBron James left Cleveland. If, instead of stringing the whole state of Ohio along and implying that he would stay, he had left in tears or forced a trade, he'd be looked at differently. ANY other way than how he did it, really.

I think it's also obvious that LeBron James is not the Jordan 2.0 that so many people want him to be. He does not have the competitive fire that a Jordan or Kobe or Russell or Bird or Magic had. He just doesn't. He does phenomenal things on the court, but he's just not wired that way. It doesn't mean he'll never win a title in a deserving fashion, but it doesn't look like he'll ever be in the pantheon with those all-time greats.

For those of us who aren't from Cleveland or Cavs fans (I don't even like basketball, I just can't stand LeBron), it's not about how he left. It's about his giant ego and the fact he thinks he's god's gift to the world. I don't care who you are, what sport you play, or what team you play for - I enjoy seeing people like that get knocked down a peg. He's cocky and arrogant, and it was nice seeing the underdogs beat him.

I gotta be one of the only 3 people here that still likes Lebron

On that note...

Why didn't Lebron go to college?
Because he couldn't pass the finals

LeBron James was just traded to the Florida Panthers. He should be very successful there because the NHL only has 3 periods.

so there was this guy outside dallas asking for a dollar and lebron james walks by and gives him 75 cents. After a little while Dirk Nowitzki walks by and hands him 25 cent and says to the guy sorry about that lebron never gives you Four quarters

And that ego wasn't particularly distinctive compared to other superstar athletes, until he left Cleveland. LeBron James wasn't in the arrogant egomaniac category while he was in Cleveland, at least not as a running theme. He had his moments, like many other athletes, but from the start he had a reputation for being well-grounded, mature beyond his years, and loyal to his local fans.

That's the reason why he became a villain so quickly. It seemed like a betrayal to the Clevelanders who had looked up to him. Add to that his ridiculous media event to announce a decision that he had apparently made long before and conspiring with other players to play together in a city that's pretty much the opposite of Cleveland in every way, and you have yourself a bad guy.

A few years from now, he’ll do something stupid (e.g., bring a gun into a club, fight dogs for sport, etc.) lose all his money and be doing the reality TV circuit.
