I ordered a 64 Gig White AT&T unit with 4G at 4:45 PM on the seventh. I just got up graded to "Preparing for Shipment" when I got home. It surprised me a bit as I did not expect that until at least Wednesday.

For those who may be wondering, yes Apple has been stockpiling units at various locations in the U.S. and most likely around the world since late in December. One clue was that the Air Frieght charges on flights out of Hong Kong have gone up as a major shipper (read Apple) in that area has been using up all available space since that time.

One problem with being an early adopter is that when you preorder like we have you sometimes get very early models that may left the factory before all the small bugs were worked out of the system. AKA units sitting in warehouses in the US when units manufactured later may have had bugs and problems discovered and worked out.

That is why Apple Stores have extra units for replacements.

Based on my serial number, I believe mine was manufactured in the middle of February.

Ewwww my iPad was built in the third week of January apparently. Hopefully there weren't any manufacturing issues that were found since then.

On a positive note my iPad still shows as delivering the 13th by 4:30pm. It does say future delivery requested but I'm hoping it falls through the cracks. I guess I'll know tomorrow morning.

So an iPad with this serial number has week 5 build, according to a previous poster. Not sure what this gains us in knowledge unless some builds are found to have bugs?? I hope not! I really don't need something new to stress about

I will probably get flamed again, but my extended family and I ordered different ipad models at the same time. There is no rhyme or reason to who's got shipped when. It's pretty much a crap shoot, however if you ordered the 7th and your order said the 16th, your golden.

Well, I ordered the morning of the 9th and my order does say the 16th, so I am thinking I am fine also. However, if I don't get past Processing on Wednesday, I might get a little worried the date will change.

i woudlnt stress it.. ive never heard of apple having bugs or problems with defective products.. . Apple field tests all their prodcuts heavily long before production. Even so, as the guy earlier pointed out. They have reserve supplies for replacements incase someone gets one with deffective parts.

I ordered on announce date at 7:00 PM. Got my shipping notice two days ago, and just got the Fedex pick up notice at Nashville late this afternoon. Delivery by 3/16/12 by 3:00 PM.
