When I first ordered, a hold was put on my card for the two iPads I ordered. I also ordered an ATV but there was no hold for it. Now after my 2 iPads have shipped, I see i've been charged for 3 iPads total (initial hold + one more iPad). I'm not sure what's going on. Anybody else see this?
 
Ipad Limit - 2 per HOUSEHOLD

I just got off the phone with Apple and am REALLY angry. My husband purchased 2 ipads and I purchased 2 (for ourselves and gifts for my sisters), and only 1 of them has shipped, and others cancelled. I called and after a VERY long hold period, was told that the limit actually is only two iPads per HOUSEHOLD, not person. NOWHERE on their site does it explain or specify that, and if I had known that, I would have let my sisters order their own!! ANyone else experience a problem??
 
I just got an email from the Apple store that my iPad order has been cancelled, but none of the reasons in the email apply to my order (didn't exceed limit of 2, not an FBO or international address, not a PO Box). I received the smart cover on Saturday, and the Applecare charge was processed.

I spoke with Apple Support but they couldn't explain why the order was cancelled. I placed it on the 7th, right after they appeared in the store. Supposedly someone will call me in the next 24 hours to explain what happened, but I will be shocked if that happens.

Look out for this problem!

Anyway, the rep was very helpful and said the ' upper management ' had authorized the order be re-instated. I was also offered a free smart cover for the trouble [ got the Red Leather one ].

Order status showed : Processing for shipment before it got cancelled!!
Order status now : [ ~ 3 hrs after speaking to Apple ] Cancelled.

The Apple rep said it might not get to me on March 16th [ although the shipping was upgraded to Priority Overnight ]

I was also told that the Order Status might take 48 hrs to change.

Ridiculous

I ordered my ipad (4g+engraving) and a smart cover, both of them were shipped out from shenzhen, china. My smart cover is in Concord, ON, canada and my ipad is still in Louisville, KY, United States. It is 2am in toronto, the status of the cover is "OUT FOR DELIVERY", WTF, it is 2AM! How I wish it is the ipad. :) :)
 
My order just changed to shipped within the last hour. Looks like they are in Ontario Canada. I just plugged the serial numbers into Apple.com. One of them shows up fine (applecare expiring 3/11/13 which is odd), and one of them there is no record for. Strange.

Edit: 5 minutes later, the second iPad shows up too.

It should be Ontario, California, US. I called apple before, they told me that.
 
ipad 3 update!

hey all. been following this for a few days now and had to register and give you my personal low down. ordered white 32gb engraved on march 7th at 930pm. a couple hours later got the preparing for shipment and my iPad 3 shipped march 9th at 9pm. got the tracking number from ups and immediately saw some activity. epz china - chengdu - shanghai - anchorage alaska. departed alaska 3/10 at 11pm and hasnt updated since. this is where it gets interesting. I've noticed fedex has the future date shipment requested however ups doesn't. and i just called ups international tracking and spoke with a very nice lady who informed me that she sees a shipping date of march 13 which is today!!! i told her that when i track it on ups i see march 16th and she goes and i quote " well my data on this side is usually more reliable than the websites." i sure hope she is right!! i will keep you all updated.

also i personally believe that if any iPads do arrive early it will most likely be UPS ones because they do not have the future delivery dates requested. the fedex ones are already in the states and therefore got the future date put on them. i believe ups iPads do not have any restrictions.
 
little worried now. Ordered mine like 2 hours after the keynote and they took the cash out of my account right away. It's been preparing for shipment since monday and now when I look in the bank account I don't see the charge there anymore but my balance is still showing the iPad's price being subtracted. Am I in the clear if it's already processing for shipment

My unengraved white 32GB iPad, ordered on 3/7, went to shipped status on 3/10. The FedEx tracking number didn't work until 3/12. It shows "Picked up" in Nashville. It indicates "Future delivery requested," although the estimated delivery date shows 3/13. I suspect it will sit in Nashville until 3/15, though (probably in a warehouse with pallets of these things).

Damn, should have engraved a space bar onto my iPad for UPS. My FedEx says "future delivery" and also "standard overnight" which I guess means they'll just ship it out on the 15th. Update us tomorrow on your shipment or if you talk to a UPS CSR tomorrow.

Yeah, I just got my shipment notification and I ordered 2 hours after the keynote like you. Had been stuck on preparing for shipment since Friday. You should get your tracking info soon enough.
 
FedEx overnight

The FedEx ones are all overnight because that enables them to get them
All shipped on the 16th regardless of where they will be resting all week.

Unfortunatly I screwed up and got the wrong model but instead of canceling and waiting two weeks on a newly placed order figured I'd sell the one already on the way and brave the lines Friday to pick up the model I do want. Pre ordered the 32gb wifi and wanted 32gb 4g Verizon. Luckily I'm currently at school at Binghamton university upstate ny so hoping the line will
Be minimal Friday at bestbuy.
 
32gb white 4g unengraved is officially in the hands of FedEx and waiting for me in Ontaria, California. Arranged for it to be delivered to a local FedEx place so I can pick it up at the end of the day (won't be home until the afternoon and I'm not going to risk signing for it to be left at my door or with my leasing office -- sometimes they're not there). The fedex place I arranged for it to be at called me 5 minutes after I submitted the form on fed ex's site and confirmed to let me know that the earliest they can release the package is 10am as per their contract with Apple.

No problem with that, excited!
 
how long does it take for Apple to charge your card when it ships out?

Some folks will see the charge immediately, some won't.

When I went through the 4s launch, my card was authorized, but the pending charge fell off after a few days. It wasn't till Two full weeks had passed from when the phone was delivered that Apple withdrew the funds.
 
Lol, according to the serial number my iPad was made in the second week of the year. Been stockpiling since early January? :D:apple:

i am completely confused by how this all works. i bought 2 ipads and 2 apple care plans. so, total was 1626. for some reason, apple did 3 separate pulls from my account. 1 was for 198 which makes sense as it's 2 apple care plans. but the other 2 charges were for 899 (1 of the ipads) and 799 (1 of the ipads PLUS 200 extra tacked on.) none of it makes sense.

i just checked my account, and the care plans are still out, and 1 of the ipads is now correct for the 599 amount. however, the 899 one is gone? both have listed as shipped, so who knows. it's all confusing. i know some of it has to do with the bank, but i just wish it was simpler.

Yes, after speaking with them earlier this week (and they admit it is a bit odd) because they triggered a fraud warning on my credit card, this is happening quite often.

One one credit card, the entire authorization for iPad x 2 and AppleTV (+misc accessories) appeared almost instantly after my order was placed. They then billed me for one of the accessories which I received the next day. Then they authorized a single iPad. Then came the fraud warning, having to call the bank and then Apple. Then the second iPad was authorized - both still showing pending. (even though I have tracking numbers that show a delivery for Friday by 3pm) This is in additional to the authorization for the entire amount which still also shows pending.

On another credit card/order, the entire amount has moved from a pending transaction to actually being billed.

TLDR: YMMV, but you're not alone.
