The New iPad Pre-Order Status Thread (USA) - All Models

Status update

Pre-ordered The new iPad 64GB Wifi Black and engraved on 3/7/12 at 5 PM PST to be delivered in San Diego, CA. Does anyone know how I can get UPS to hold for pickup? I can't seem to find this option on their tracking website unlike Fedex where there is the option right on their tracking website. :confused:

I ordered my ATT 16gb Black unit on March 8th. Sat in "Order Processing" till yesterday late afternoon, when I got an acknowledgment, and FedEx tracking number, of shipment from Apple. FedEx, however, doesn't recognize the tracking number.

What does this tell me? Its "left" some sort of Apple (or Apple supplier) facility, with a FedEx label on it, but its not yet been scanned by FedEx, or that FedEx hasn't yet updated its database.

Am I worried about any of this? No. Apple and its delivery partners have only done this about twenty million times before. The iPad will be at my door sometime on Friday. It won't get here any sooner if I recheck the FedEx site fifty times between then and now.

Patience is, as they say, a virtue.

If you click on "Change Delivery" over on the right, you should be given more options.

However, the site is pretty limited, and by changing it to be held at a sort facility, you'll delay your delivery a few days. You can have it delivered to a UPS store, which usually won't delay your delivery....although with the kind of traffic they'll be seeing, it may.... but they charge you $5 bucks for that "privilage." Since I travel alot, I use this option pretty regularly. They have a membership program that waives the 'per instance' charge, but costs like $40 a year. Meh.

Like I said, the site is limited, and mildly confusing. Your best bet is to give them a call and talk to a rep. They can get it done for you.

You can only ask for a hold (or change of address) after the first missed delivery attempt. They will leave a slip with an "info" number on it and you can change it online or call with that number.
 
Mine barely went to "preparing for shipment" yesterday. Ordered mine around 8am on March 8th, White, engraved 32gb wifi model.
 
My Black 64GB VZW LTE model that I ordered on Saturday shipped this morning...and says it's going to be delivered tomorrow.

I'll literally piss my pants with excitement if this happens.

Looks like our iPads are on the same boat, sense they shipped off at the same time! And it's on there website, click "Change Delivery"

Stuck in Anchorage

My iPad has been somewhere between Anchorage and Florida for the last 3 days.

Anchorage, AK, United States 03/10/2012 8:41 P.M. Departure Scan

I thinking it's coming via Dog Sled because it is taking so long to get to the next UPS hub.

Finally got my through to complete my order about an hour after keynote. Ordered black 32gb Verizon. Been sitting on Preparing for Shipment since Friday night. Starting to get mad that I haven't received a shipping notice. Hoping it just means mine is somewhere nearby at a local Fedex. I'm located in NC.
 
Same here black 32 GB verizon ordered on the 7th still preparing for shipment. The White 32 wifi I ordered already shipped. I know another person as well with 32 VZ that is still preparing.... maybe its specific to this model?

Same with mine, and same model. - I'm thinking it's shipping from PA or somewhere near there and won't ship till Tomorrow or Thurs...

I'm in the same boat and also located in NC, I ordered a black 32gb. wifi only, hope it shows come Friday!

I would think that same thing but the 32 White wifi I ordered is coming from PA and its already shipped. Not sure where the 32 Black Verizon would be coming from.

My WHT 32GB VZW is still "Preparing to Ship" as well...

Ditto. 32 GB VZW model. Stuck on Preparing for Shipment since Friday night. I called Apple this morning, because the hold on my debit card for the purchase amount was released. The CSR I spoke with said it's completely normal for that to happen, and my card will be charged when it ships and I will get it on Friday.

I agree.. I am pretty sure they are sending mine via pack mule from Kentucky to Texas... It hasnt had a status update sense the plane landed from Alaska Friday night... I am sure it will be here but would feel better if it were moving.

A guy here at work ordered a 32gb wifi only after me on the 7th and he got his shipping notice the next day and his has been sitting in PA ever since.

Same here. I am in Texas, you can drive from Alaska to Texas in 3 days no problem. Where the hell is it?

Update: I requested an Update via the UPS website to my phone and it said it was in Kentucky even though the website still said Alaska.

I read somewhere that Apple and the shipping companies hold them at centeral hubs till the last minute as part of apples agreement... I realize it would be a tragidy if anyone got theres a day or two early but isnt that making it harder on Apple and UPS/Fedex??
