The New iPad Pre-Order Status Thread (USA) - All Models

Guys, does the Preparing for Shipment status mean that my order is fully confirmed? I'm afraid my bank might do some stupid business and I don't want my order to get cancelled at the last moment.

In short, my current status is Preparing for Shipment, does that mean I'm all safe?

I ordered a Black 64gb AT&T Wednesday around 6pm, and it just went from processing to preparing for shipment last night around 8 pm. Hopefully it will ship today.

I ordered same as you around the same time. No engraving. Still sitting at "processing"as of 7:00 am EST. I have no clue as to the rhyme or reason of these things. I've been through a bunch of these pre-orders and I am never one of the ones to get my shipping notification early.

I ordered a black 16gb ATT at 5 CST on the 7th and I am also still in processing. Seems that there has been very few posts about this and other ATT models.

Saw the same thing last year during the IPAD 2 rollout.

I would think you're all set since you can no longer cancel it from the website once it says preparing for shipment.

Yes. It means it's being sealed in a box, tracking # assigned, printing label printed. Next step is "shipped" which means its in UPS/FedEx/SomeOtherCarrier possession. Once it's "shipped" Apple will charge your CC, but they've already rec'd an authorization and had the funds sequestered. You'll probably notice your credit line is lower.

Why not go to Fedex once you see it at the facility and see if you can pick up your package? Can they really withhold it from you just because Apple says so?

I am in the same spot as well. ATT 64G Black; ordered about 3:30 CST on Wednesday.

iPad engraved. UPS. Got tracking next day. Currently in Louisville

IPad not engraved. FedEx. Just received tracking #

Hopefully one of these gets in prior to Friday.

If you live near a FedEx distro point, then your order will not ship until later in the week. If you live out in the sticks, then your order will be processed earlier. It has everything to do with timing the deliveries for a March 19 delivery. I'm sure Apple was given a schedule from FedEx they should go by. The last time I ordered something from them, it shipped from China on Wednesday and I still got it Friday morning.

Both show delivery date of March 16, and I'll be out of town until the 19th

People who ordered 2 iPads on 1 order, did you get one tracking number that is both iPads or two separate tracking numbers?

Trying to do some detective work here.

2 trackiing numbers here, both ordered together online. Both engraved, but one is wifi only and the other is ATT. Coming from two different China origins.
