I really don't think anybody is getting their iPad early.

Mine shipped yesterday, and on the tracking page, it says "Future Delivery Requested". Which means FedEx will hold it until next Friday.

I ordered the new iPad to be picked up at my local Apple Store. The email said that they will send me a notification when my iPad is ready to be picked up, but do you think I can stop in Friday and pick it up, even though they may not send me an email until later in the day?

They've already sent me an email saying that my iPad Smart Cover was ready to be picked up because they already had that in stock.

I've never ordered anything after an announcement online before. I usually just wait in line, but the option was there for in-store pickup... so just curious if anyone had an experience like what I described above.

I ordered a 32 GB Black Wifi/4G as soon as the keynote was over (well..as soon as I could finally get the site to load w/o crashing lol) and mine is still saying "processing items"

like I said in a different post, I felt like I was the last one to have a shipping update on my iPhone 4s and I still got mine on time... Of course, having mine at least move to "preparing for shipment" would give me some extra peace of mind lol

If you live near a FedEx distro point, then your order will not ship until later in the week. If you live out in the sticks, then your order will be processed earlier. It has everything to do with timing the deliveries for a March 19 delivery. I'm sure Apple was given a schedule from FedEx they should go by. The last time I ordered something from them, it shipped from China on Wednesday and I still got it Friday morning.

I guess that's the case. Being in NYC/Brooklyn We have many fedex locations very close. So i think that there is no rush for them to slap a tracking number on the box. Being in the prepared for shipment, I'm sure that Come Wednesday, I'll have a tracking number for delivery on Friday. Like you said, if people live far away, this is why they are getting tracking numbers so that the Friday delivery date is secured.

Ordered on March 8 - now says preparing for shipment

I'm in New Orleans. Ordered a 32gb black att (no engraving) @ 1pm central time on March 8. I called at 4:30p that day and changed color to white.

Just changed from "processing" to "preparing for shipment" during the night (I checked it before bed around midnight, and when I got up this morning at 7am the status was changed).

I don't care if I don't get it early, I just did not want my delivery time pushed back. I've been seeing reports that UK orders with original delivery on the 16th are getting notices pushing delivery back.

I purchased my 32gb verizon ipad (black) on wednesday right when the website went back up. To this point it is still processing with an arrival date of March 16.

Mine has been in processing since Wednesday at 6pm est. I'm in southern Georgia. Black 16gb Verizon

I have a black 16gb AT&T ordered at the same time except cst and am also still at processing. I have been watching for postings concerning this color and size 4G models and haven't seen any that have reached preparing for shipment.

Must be the last to process.

I bought a black 64gb LTE-Vz model friday morning, must have just made the cutoff. This morning shows as preparing for shipment.

Got an email overnight saying mine had shipped via FedEx, but FedEx can't pull anything up with the tracking # yet.

When I preordered the 4S, it came via UPS.

Wonder how Apple decides between the two.

You know it would be more helpful if when you update your shipping statuses on this thread if you would not just say,
Mine has shipped,
Mine has went from processing from preparing for shipment,
and so on.

But state your ordering date and more importantly the time of the day you ordered so that others can compare it to their own orders. Include what you have ordered as well and what carrier you are using. Memory size , color the whole description. This will make this thread somewhat more useful if people would do this. Thanks for everyone's cooperation in this matter. ;)

Just got shipping email on mine:

64 GB Verizon Black model--ordered 4 pm CST on March 7. Item will be delivered to Minnesota. Delivery date is listed as March 16.

Shipping is via FedEx. Tracking number isn't showing anything yet so I don't know if it's shipping from the US or China.

Why may I ask didn't you have it delivered somewhere? The stores are going to be a zoo and I seem to remember that some people had issues in the past with their being no stock left when they went to pick up their pre-order. They are supposed to hold stock for all of the pickups, but things get pretty crazy on launch day.

I had placed an order for a white 32gb wifi and a green smart cover on the 7th. The order was processing for awhile and with no email conformation it was cancelled. I called both apple an my bank and they didnt understand why it was cancelled. The billing informationon was correct and i had the funds available so there shouldn't have been an issue. I reordered like told and the same thing had happened. What do I do?!

Note: Processing Items Time Decoded

The word is, from certain questionable sources, that several New iPads have yet to go to shipping status because some dock hands in China are using the New iPads to play "Words With Friends" and "Angry Birds" and will not relinquish their toys until they win certain tournaments they are engaged in.

Not to worry though... YOUR chance of being one of those iPads is only 1 in 5.

MOre news forthcoming as events unfold.

Good day! (page 2)
