Sounds like the new 2018 Mac Mini Pro to me...!?!

Or, an ARM-based system, but still with a Vega GPU (probably of the 56 variant)...?!?

Sounds like about 300 Watts (min) to me, and it’s too early for ARM.

That’s not a mini; the power supply alone would probably be twice the size of the current mini.

Mo, it is not a Mac Mini...

It is a Mac Mini PRO...

Sounds like a Mac Pro, will it be in the same cylindrical form factor?

Come on dude, you are being ridiculous...

The prevailing rumor is for a Mac Mini Pro, so it will obviously be a larger chassis with better specs, but I highly doubt Apple will reuse the cMP chassis for the Mac Mini Pro...

The iMac Pro should give an idea of specs for the Mac Mini Pro & the Modular Mac Pro, as the iMac Pro should sit right between the two...

We will know more next week...!
[doublepost=1540341765][/doublepost]One thing I would REALLY like to see debut along with a new Mac Mini Pro is a new Apple Cinema Display...

And I would love to see all of it (Mac Mini Pro, Apple Cinema Display, Magic Mouse, & Magic Keyboard) in Space Grey...

No, the rumor is not for a Mac mini Pro. It’s for a Mac mini targeted more at Pros, with CPU and storage options that will make it more expensive than the current lineup, which starts at $499. Think 50-100W thermals, not 300-500W.

I expect a mini based on the new 13” MacBook Pro, meaning the 28W quad-core, with SSD on the base model. Priced similar to the current $899 8GB/256GB mini, maybe $999-1299 for the base model depending on the minimum config. I also expect socketed DDR4 memory (32GB max), and most/all of the ports of the current $1,099 iMac 1080p.

I think there’s a small possibility it will be based on the new 15” MBP, meaning 45W CPU with probably then a dGPU. Could be 64GB max with these H-series CPUs. They’d start in the $1,499-1,899 range.

Oh and a very small (tiny) possibility both platforms could be available but I really think it’ll just be one or the other, at least at introduction. If sales are somehow very good, which I don’t expect unfortunately, they could expand the lineup in the future.

The main issue Apple has on the Mac Mini & Pro product lines is that their innovation conflicts with their profit making strategy and their desire to lock people in their walled garden...

i think macbook air , imac and ipad pro.Don't hope much unless apple lazy and take nuc instead..:D.. If true, everybody will lining up nuc mac;)

The “Mac Mini Pro” product “rumour” is actually made up by people on this forum, based on a highly optimistic interpretation of a couple of sentences in a recent Bloomberg article. But the more realistic interpretation, and the far more likely outcome, in my view, is that it’s just some higher-end BTO configuration options in the existing Mac mini chassis. The text specifically calls it an upgrade to Mac mini, and mentions processor and storage options; nowhere does it make reference to a whole new product, which a “Mac Mini Pro” would be.

I love seeing this 5 year old thread pop up
Doesn't just pop up.... Has been active for almost all those five years asn will almost certainly continue to be so as new Mac Minis will almost certainly continue to come, albeit at less frequent intervals than in days of yore.

I concur.

You are probably right...the best specs we are likely to see are the 6-core hyper-threading parts in the 15 inch macbook pro with (weak) integrated graphics. with eGPU options for those that need it.
I'd be quite happy with this though! Still be much (much) more powerful than a quad core 2011 i7 with HD3000. Just please let the RAM and HD be accessible/upgradeable!

Existing chassis and port array, just with an updated chipset (including TB3), and a quad-core option, is all I need.

Should help keep costs down too.

I want a mini to replace my faltering iMac from 2011 that i use daily with Plex. But if they really only offer pro specs with an extremely high price tag i may seek out the existing mini and hope i can find one cheap enough to make it worth getting
