Could it be because of the introduction of the Neo Mini $399. It is going to have the A18 chip if the Apple insiders have it right.

Why bother with a specific product? Just make MacOS a bootable option on the next AppleTV. If you need to set such a product aside from the older Apple TVs you could just call it an AppleTV Pro (version that comes with Ethernet and Thread Radios). But pricing it accordingly with 512Gb storage would have to be done.

It does make me wonder why a reasonably unheralded note from some years ago - certain Macs coming with Thread radios - I'd like to see older ARM Macs - eg M1 and M2 being given the option to boot tvOS once mainline macOS support ends.
 
Seems an expensive way to replace an intel mini. If getting an M5 was not aa important as getting by with an m4 what about a previous gen laptop or even an m4 iMac?
I am looking at laptops, a refurbished m5 MacBook Pro seems to make a lot of sense, especially if I resell and get a mini/mini pro or Studio down the line.
