1060's are in tons of thin laptops. The only problem is the tdp and Apple painted themselves into a corner by going with usb 3 charging which has a current limit of only 100w

Come on guys, if you are going to argue in Apple's favor, at least have the basic knowledge of what happened down.

You mention the large tdp without mentioning the fact that 1060's run very cool (At least for a mobile gpu that is basically a desktop 980). The razer blade may have a smaller battery life but it has no issues being small.

Please, sir, list tons of laptop that is 0.6 inch thick with 1060 inside. Also, I wouldn't call 80 to 95 Celsius cool. Keep in mind we are buying laptop, not computer with screen that can be taken outside. 1 to 2.5 hours battery life is not laptop.

They don't run as cool as the AMDs, and you don't think that may have swayed Apple's decision? That and being able to advertise a 10hr battery life for a 15"?

No, ifixit says it's sandisk, and the 960 pro is rated at 1.8gbps write, whereas the mbp is at 2.1gbps. Also, anandtech did a review on the 960 pro and said it doesn't live up to its advertised specs.

Yeah no, it is not. It lives up to spec.

I'll take moving the goalposts for $500 alex.

Why don't we look at the new Razer Blade with 1060? A whole 0.7 inches, and suddenly you can play any game and do anything you want with graphics.

First, I know there are Razer, Msi and Asus computer with 1060 inside while being relatively thin. Tons of? No. Second, 1060 is not throttling in this form factor, which is good. But chips are running hot, not "very cool" in this kind of form factor. Third, these computers can hardly live without wall outlet even under light loads.

Judging from what you wrote, you prefer thin mobile computer with powerful graphic for gaming. Extremely short battery life is not an issue to you. It sounds like you are in a whole different market.

While having short battery life (relative to the MacBook Pro). Apple has never been about absolute specs in a vacuum regardless of the cost, what more in a constrained package like a laptop. The AMD chips are less powerful, but also consume less power.

Macs have also never been about gaming performance. That's not what their target audience buy them for (or at least, you buy them with the understanding that you won't be doing much gaming on it).

Then there's the whole issue with Mac-only software. There was this YouTube video about how Final Cut Pro ran well even on a MacBook, compared to adobe premiere on a better-specced ultra book.

Apple devices have always been more than the sum of their specs. You can't just compare spec for spec in a vacuum and conclude that one device is lousier or inferior because of that. You have look at each product in their entirety.

The main problem you guys forget is that a lot of these devices has switchable graphics and normally use intel graphics for everything except heavy loads. That gives them good but not great battery life in everything but gaming (And intel can run video).

Dead wrong.

This is not "good but not great battery life". It uses full HD display. High-res screen would further shorten use time.

Well, my response is mostly at the fact that the new MBP doesn't use the Samsung drive.

Also, maybe your benchmark is too lenient. It seems to show that the 950 and 960 pro are ~4% faster than Samsung advertised. This is just my preference, but I'd usually trust Anandtech before Arstechica.

This post and the video made me sick.
It's almost everything nonsense.
If you want to complain, make it with good judgement!

No offense but you sound a bit butthurt...
I made my complaint with good judgment:
https://www.macrumors.com/2016/11/02/professional-mac-users-complaints-grow-apple-event/

This is what happens when a company concentrates more on new watch bands than Macs
How could they even call this event "Hello Again" and not present desktop macs but instead present a controversial new Skylake Macbook Pro. Of course "Waiting for the new Skylake-MBP" people are disappointed.. me included :-(

At the end of the day you either like Apple's products or you don't, you either buy them or you don't. Only time will tell.
What really gets me are the people who rant and rave at what they wanted Apple to do, welll I'm sorry but the world doesn't do what you always want it to do, if you are not happy buy another computer, look elsewhere. Personally i still love Apple's products, I much prefer them over anything Windows or Andriod, but that is my personal opinion I don't expect everyone to agree with me.

...butthurt about what?! I don't own Apple Stocks, and I'm not an Apple fan, so I really have no reason to be pissed off about critiques.
I was referring to the video you posted. Most of those critiques are naive and completely useless.
Furthermore, the video is simply terrible.

I don't understand what's the relation between you and the MacRumors article you've posted, but that is a good-judgment complaint, and something I already try to discussing (and something you have wrote too):
Apple continue to neglect its entire computer line.
That's something wrong, not the MBP losing its chime...

Bro. You took a tiny kernel of misinformation, from an analysts predictions that was posted on a rumor site, about an update that could happen A YEAR FROM NOW. And you think you're qualified to call for the firing of some of the top people in one of the most profitable companies in the world? LOL

Edit: LOL holy **** I just watched the video you posted. Ahah ahah I almost fell out of my chair watching it. Great video.

Tim Cook and Phil Schiller have been at Apple for a long time, what most people fail to realise is that Cook was hand picked by Job's to be the CEO, just because he isn't maybe doing what you want, doesn't make him a bad CEO.

Steve Jobs may have picked Tim Cook for the job but he's clearly not the best choice. I think Apple is going to go the way it did in the 90's and there will need to be a "Steve Jobs 2.0" to bring the company back.

Article here on tepid sales of new MBP http://appleinsider.com/articles/16...-tepid-due-to-high-prices-disappointing-specs

"In addition to high customer costs, Kuo believes key design changes are a major disappointment to core users. Specifically, the analyst cites Apple's switch to USB-C, the removal of the standard SD card reader and lack of support for higher memory allotments. "

Not surprised, but they are selling. Kuo must be reading the various forums for this analysis.

When I look at the product line that's been released after Job's passing I'm convinced Scully is still in the shadows running the company ;)

They are selling by the looks of it because in this new interview with Schiller, he states the following "Rebutting critics, Schiller announces that orders for the new MacBook Pro have set a new online sales record, beating previous sales for ‘pro Apple notebooks" This more or less confirms what i said yesterday, that they are selling, shipping dates have slipped from 2-3 weeks to now 4-5 weeks on Apple's website.

The new MBP show dinosaurs like Cook and Schiller need to go!

Actually, it shows that these dinosaurs are doing an excellent job and truly carry on the spirit of the company's founder ;) Anyway, I am happy that you are not on Apple's board of directors, people like you would ruin the company in an instant.
