I just checked out the colors at the store today. IMO, the sierra blue is overrated. It wouldn't be my first choice. I preferred the look of the silver. I went in expecting to like gold, but somehow it didn't quite look as nice in person. And black is an absolute fingerprint magnet.

Incidentally, white also happens to be my favorite with the non-pro phones.
there is no black lol

Really???

The best is blue Jay.

Also I just realized that before Apple, so called Sierra Blue color was used by other phones from Samsung, Oppo, etc. Many years ago.

It may be a new Apple color but that color has been used by other companies. I feel last year’s color (Pacific Blue) and (Midnight Green) was a new color in the market. Sierra Blue isn’t

Apple has hyped it way too much through their reviews.

It is a nice color but surely not the best color from Apple.
I’m not sure why you had to give me a background on android phones that already had that shade of color before. But I’ll entertain you for a moment. Which phone(s) exactly had the same color as Sierra blue and reflected varying degrees of glacier and grey in different lighting that used a matte frosted back like this one?

Secondly how much thought did you put into it that you use a blue case with a shade of blue phone? How obvious and silly at the same time. It’s actually when you put a not obvious color with another color and it turns out great, such as the one I had pictured above which looks fantabulous

One last thing. Joz, apples executive, pointed out specifically a nano type of coating process such as the one used on the gold made this particular blue which if it is the same process as the gold is very durable and unique in comparison to all the other colors. I’m not even sure any android phones have ever used such a process

Samsung had many blue phones and even oppo but can’t remember which special model matches the frame color of the Sierra Blue.

I was not talking about the process of how the Sierra Blue color was made. I was only referring to the color.

Not many will care what Nano costing was applied for the Sierra Blue. It is the color that matters to most.

Again if one is using a case it is the camera opening that one needs to match. People will not care about a nano coating was applied or not.

I am not saying Sierra Blue is a bad color. It is not a new color in the market and surely not the best color.

That is all I am saying.

Here’s another shot comparing Sierra Blue, 13 Blue and Pacific Blue.

Personally, I think both the Sierra and Pacific look great - just, don’t expect the same from them. Sierra is clearly a lot more ‘icy’ with some silver tones, think of a glacier as someone else in this thread put it, while the Pacific last year was a more dark teal like with some teal in it. Simple matter of whichever you prefer :)

That’s pacific blue. I also like it more than the Sierra Blue.

Apple must have changed the color because they wanted to release a new color so that people will not feel that this year’s launch is nothing much new apart for the video features.
So Sierra Blue was overly hyped and many reviewers were given the Sierra Blue to make it look like the best color ever.

Or…..people have different preferences, and some people like sierra blue better.

Sierra Blue is the most popular color in the market I believe.

Ever other person may be carrying the color in the streets.

True. Don’t disagree

I personally like the Sierra Blue.

The only reason why I didn’t get it because I wish to use dBrand skins and the Sierra Blue will not look nice with the skins. Unless I get blue skins.

So far today my Sierra Blue Pro has looked pure grey, pale blue, and now for some crazy reason in this lighting at the hotel it looks pale purple. Not as intense as my purple mini of course. So far every color it’s been has been understated. I love it! And I just took several steps and it’s grey again. No wait, periwinkle blue.

Yeah good luck trying to nail down exactly what color this phone is. Apple did a brilliant job with it.

Sierra blue is a bit disappointing in person. It looks a bit purple in certain lighting. Not what I was looking forward too. Thinking of changing it but don’t want to deal with a restocking fee from Verizon.

I’m surprised to see so many comments about SB being “overrated” or “disappointing”! There are so many washed out, almost gray pics of it here, which are totally off. It looks great in person and definitely exceeded my expectations. Not a single regret of getting it.

I wouldn’t say everyone would agree on the opinion that Apple nailed it. If I bought a phone thinking it was going to be light blue, or baby blue, and it sometimes looks purple, I wouldn’t be happy. Personally, this is why I don’t buy all these oddball colors from Apple. You can barely trust them when they tell you a phone is white, or black. I won’t even buy MacBooks that are space grey, because I can’t stand that they have a purple hue in some light.

And for people like you they offer other colors.

Can’t stop looking how gorgeous Sierra Blue is on the pictures. Best color by far. Close second was the 5s Gold. We all knew how long we had to wait for that one lmao.
I had (and still have) the 5s Gold, it was alright as my entry to the iOS world (and probably the nicest-looking variant of the iPhones Apple has had available in Gold) but now I wish I could get my hands on a Slate Black iPhone 5 running iOS 6, there's no beating that.

GrumpMom: What was the color of your previous iPhone? I have 12 Pro Max in gold, and I'm still loving the 13 Pro Max in gold. But I really want a change of color. Are you wearing a case with yours? I find Sierra Blue to be quite masculine actually because of the grey tone. So now I'm deciding between silver and Sierra Blue. What a first world dilemma! :)

This. And there seems to be a lot of hate over SB. I don’t get it.

I know liking or not liking a color is different with each person. But just for myself, the more I see SB, the more I am warming up to it.

It definitely seems polarizing though. Most people either love it or hate it. Not much in the middle it would seem.

the problem is in reality it doesn't look like anything like the baby blue on the apple's website so people will be disappointed they are not getting that and instead are getting a pale bluish/greish instead. Many will be ok with but others won't .
