The XS has been a mess since launch.

An unvalidated and anecdotal opinion that others clearly have already countered you in this very own thread on their battery life that has been solid with the XS. So your settings and usage are to blame, _not_ the XS itself. What you experience is not everyone else's.

Lol a simple Google search proves my point. But you're right, all of the sudden (with no settings/usage change) the XS just magically performs much worse than the X did. 1 other person says they have good battery and all of the sudden that makes their opinion more valid than mine?
Between the battery issues, the shoddy intel modem, and wifi issues, the proof is out there. If you want to keep the apple blinders on that is fine and well, doesn't magically make the documented issues disappear.
Ha nice try though....

Perhaps there could've been 8% more battery if there was no bump.
I'm just splitting hairs at this point. Or hares. But those are kid of messy to split, so I guess it's just hairs then.

I know these are just mockups, but I really hope they switch up the design a little. 5 years of bigger or even bigger iPhone 6 is enough. Personally I’d like something that calls back to the squared off iPhone 4 look. Kind of like the newer iPad pros have.

Fine, but the XR, XS, & XS Max ALL need a Bump-Up in DRAM much more than they need a Bump-Up in Battery Capacity !

XR: 2.823 GB (but acts like a 2.823 GB divided-by-2 device !)

XS: 3.754 GB

XS Max: 3.735 GB

AAPL's Memory Management isn't what it used to be with the 2016 (& prior) iPhones !

Cook & Schiller are you listening ??? Apps need MORE "Available DRAM" to perform their magic !

The iPhone XR 2019 model is going to be such a monster hit. 4*4 MIMO for way better signal strength, telephoto lens, even better battery life... maybe they can nudge the screen resolution up to 1080p just to silence the neckbeards. :p

Lol a simple Google search proves my point...

So you want to dismiss everyone else’s contradictions to yours based off a ‘Google search’? What other evidence do you need, not everyone experiences the same battery life, others have had good battery life with the XS, no need to make a blanket statement just because you have a bad experience with the XS, doesn’t apply to everyone else. A Google search isn’t indicative of everyone else’s battery life, just because it happens to you.

Between the battery issues, the shoddy intel modem, and wifi issues, the proof is out there..

I also have the Intel modem and I’ve had zero Wi-Fi issues, so I guess in theory, my experience contradicts yours, I think the XS battery life is been the best it’s ever been based off my usage. You can keep hurling your arguments that you had a poor experience with the Xs, maybe you have, but don’t speak for everyone else, you’re when you’re not in a position to label the ‘XS a mess’ just because it affected you, when others have had zero issues. The argument goes both ways. (<— That’s called being objective without making blanket statements.)

Im hoping these phones are lighter. The XR is HEAVY. Love the screen size but its HEAVY. I didn't buy one and glad i didn't. XS is heavy and thick enough thank you very much.

I’m definitely showing my age here: I had family members that were ill in the mid 1990’s and because we had missed phone calls to our house because we were out we bought a bag phone. It looked a lot like an old army walker talkie, and weighed 4 or 5 lbs with the battery. When someone says any cell phone is heavy I think back and say ‘no it’s not’.

Edit: I noticed the spelling errors -or more accurately the autocorrect errors and I am wondering if it is possible for an app to not accept a post command if autocorrect changes words immediately before an accept or post button has been pressed, but instead highlight the words that were just changed in a red highlight or something similar.

I have been impressed with the battery life on my XR. I wonder if the 6% bump is just because they can, or to keep pace with upgraded hardware/processor elsewhere in the phone.

6% increase in battery capacity is the smart phone equivalent to getting a "cost of living" raise at work... It's better than nothing, but don't expect major life changes because of it.

Lol "Using it wrong" No it is an undersized battery and OLED screen draining the battery. That, along with the garbage intel modem make me can't wait to get rid of the XS.

I think you maybe have that reversed? OLED displays use less power than LCD — there's no backlight.

I hope they make a 3.5” 4” MAXIMUM screen phone and market it to kids for all I care. I just a little iPhone that’ll fit my pocket.

I can’t be the only missing that one handed ease of use. If I wanna read articles or look at photos I’ll get an iPad for that. I just want something really small and portable. These phablets are cool but not practical for me personally.

As an iPhone SE user I say: “enjoy!”

Maybe one day they’ll make a phone again that isn’t the size of a patio paver and I can rejoin the buying club...or not - w/e — They obviously haven’t been missing my money the last few years anyhow.

This phone is too thick and the bezels are too large. This needs to be fixed first. It’s so uncomfortable to hold.

All I can say when I hold one of the 3 Xr that are in my family is it feels "pudgy". It's very solid to be sure, but definitely feels different than the Xs or Xs Max.

The aluminum sides and 1 camera are a non-starter for me personally.

Out of curiosity, what else about the battery drives battery life?

The largest factor in determining the life of a battery is it's charging patterns. In todays iPhones individuals who charge every night from say a 5-10% battery will not experience the longevity an individual who charges frequently during the day will.

Also, large draws on a battery will effect it's daily longevity as well. A phone with moderately consistent draw all day will often last longer than a larger capacity battery with frequent periods of heavy draws. Fairly simple stuff. :apple:

I think you maybe have that reversed? OLED displays use less power than LCD — there's no backlight.

With everything in IOS being very bright and white, there isn't much the OLED can do. Will be interesting to see if battery improves with the new dark mode in IOS 13 to really take advantage of the OLED screen.

My iPhone XR battery life is quite good as it is. I have no complaints about it at all. The iPhone 6 Plus was pretty good, but the iPhone 7 I owned had a lousy battery life. Placing even more potential battery life in the next gen XR is good, but not really high on my list of things to add or change.
