Lol. The Samsung Galaxy lines have 4000maH batteries, and they’re lauding 6% more?
Gtfoh.

The S10+ is ridiculously light! And not a cheap light either. I don't know what kind of black magic or voodoo they used, but it was refreshing to try one out and not feel like I was holding a brick.

But over on the iPhone side, we'll get a "bigger" battery and an even heavier phone. Cause for some reason, heavy phones are looked at as premium.

The largest factor in determining the life of a battery is it's charging patterns. In todays iPhones individuals who charge every night from say a 5-10% battery will not experience the longevity an individual who charges frequently during the day will.

Also, large draws on a battery will effect it's daily longevity as well. A phone with moderately consistent draw all day will often last longer than a larger capacity battery with frequent periods of heavy draws. Fairly simple stuff. :apple:

This! I'm a power user, so my 7 Plus is topped off when it hits 50%-60% at least three times a day.

It'll be interesting to see when Apple finally provides a fast charger in the box, how many more battery horror stories we see because of people draining their phones too much/too often and the extra heat the fast charger will cause. I think there will be a ton!

This phone is too thick and the bezels are too large. This needs to be fixed first. It’s so uncomfortable to hold.
Pop sockets are not an ideal solution, but as a kind of fix until the design is streamlined, I find mine really helps.

Thank you, I had no idea usage and settings will lead to battery drain /s. The X for me was much better in terms of battery. The XS has been a mess since launch.

Everything from screen brightness to location settings, notifications and their frequency, push e-mail. It all affects battery life. You can also squeeze a couple of more hours by using low power mode whenever you’re not going to be close to a charger.

Im hoping these phones are lighter. The XR is HEAVY. Love the screen size but its HEAVY. I didn't buy one and glad i didn't. XS is heavy and thick enough thank you very much.

The battery is probably one of the heaviest components of the phone. Unless Apple is able to reinvent battery physics, more battery capacity will almost certainly result in a heavier phone.

Same as last year’s XR: I wouldn’t carry this potato phone even if they gave it to me for free (which they did and I sent it back for an 8).

Lol a simple Google search proves my point...

I feel it’s time that you finally learn how google works. If you look for “iPhone XS issues” you will get posts with iPhone issues but... doesn’t mean the iPhone is full of issues, you just asked the search engine to look for posts about issues, and guess what, among ten of millions of buyers there a few thousands that are unhappy. Now try this, go on Google, look for iPhone XS customer satisfaction, iPhone XS customer rating (as you notice they are neutral searches, not biased in a posti e or negative way) and you will find out that’s the smartphone with the highest customer satisfaction (ratings usually derived from a very large pool or users representative of the different buyers segment), so, is the smartphone with the highest customer satisfaction rating? I don’t think so.

I am so used to my HEAVY iPhone XS Max now. I picked up my iPhone 7 Plus the other day and almost dropped it because I am no longer used to picking up such a „light“ phone. It’s almost sad haha

Geez, I shouldn't read so fast: I read that as SIXTY percent bigger "what is it, a slice of pizza?"

My wife is super happy with her XR and it's ridiculous battery life. The other thing that it has that no other iphone seems to has is a ridiculously loud speaker. I've had to say "hey, can you turn that down" from the living room since her phone in the kitchen was drowning out the tv further in the living room.

They need to beef up the battery in the next XS. That phone battery has been awful. Seriously makes me consider getting an XR for the battery alone.

That is Apple for you, focus on one area while ignoring the other to stretch out the revenue hardware stream. Apple could have easily focused on hardware (silicone, battery, etc) and software (OS) to improve battery life, however thinned the device and on some reduced the battery size (X -> XR) while focusing on software and silicone improvements.

Can this company multitask or is it all just an excuse, I will leave this question open.

Good-bye Qi, unless you have one of those expensive removable ones.

All I can say when I hold one of the 3 Xr that are in my family is it feels "pudgy". It's very solid to be sure, but definitely feels different than the Xs or Xs Max.

The aluminum sides and 1 camera are a non-starter for me personally.
“Pudgy” is a good word to describe the XR. I’d rather have a thinner phone than a bigger battery. I honestly think Apple did this purposely to push people towards the XS phones. Google and Samsung managed to make their “budget” phones tolerable to hold.

Weight is so important to me when it comes to a phone. I don’t want to be holding a brick in my hand. Ridiculous as it sounds, this is one reason why I keep getting tempted by Android phones. The Pixel 3 XL is so light and comfortable.

I have a removable one but it’s not what I would call expensive. I use wired charging because using my iPad charger recharges the battery fast enough to suit me.

Samsung did a great job shaving off excess weight and thickness while including decent sized batteries. Unfortunately a lot of people think the light weight makes it feel cheap. Sigh. Can’t please everyone I guess.

My Pixel 3XL battery life is not good.

PIKA!

I wish I could use pop sockets, but I find them uncomfortable and it’s essentially just putting a band aid on the problem (the phone still remains heavy).

Yeah at best it just lets me hold the phone now in a way that no longer strains my pinky finger. Xr is very definitely chunky.

IMHO the Galaxy phones are too light. They feel cheap because of it. The hype has quickly worn off of Samsung S10, and prices show it.

Kinda feel bad for them, seemingly nothing they do or say will remove the stigma.

my XR is too heavy. But ... I NEVER worry about the battery life anymore. It's like it has ... nine lives! :). Next time around, tho ... smaller phone for me.

Well that’s an unfortunate perception because it’s an incredibly capable phone. But all Android phones unfortunately fail to hold their value over time.

Samsung generally offers a lucrative trade in value of old phones that effectively subsidizes the purchase of an upgrade for existing customers. They often add in free accessories as well. I find my Samsung S10+ to be a very good value for the money because of such offers.

It can also often get a signal where our iPhones can’t. And right now it’s the only phone I’ve got with a super wide angle lens. I find that almost indispensable.

What I do not like is the curved glass display. I could do without that “feature.” The display does feel kind of flimsy compared to my iPhone display.

I go back and forth between iOS and Android. Generally, I favor Android, but I’m really excited about iOS 13 and the upcoming new iPhones. The rumored incremental improvements will suffice for me.

While the iPhone XR already has the longest battery life of any iPhone ever, a new supplier-focused report from Korean website The Elec claims that the 2019 version of the device will feature an even larger battery capacity.

The report claims the next iPhone XR will have a 3,110 mAh battery, around 5.7 percent larger than the 2,942 mAh battery in the current model:That means the next iPhone XR's battery would still have slightly less capacity than the 3,174 mAh battery in the current iPhone XS Max, but the latter device consumes more power overall. Moreover, the next-generation iPhone XS Max is expected to gain a larger battery too.

Back in April, reputable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that battery capacities for the next iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR could increase by 20 to 25 percent, 10 to 15 percent, and up to five percent respectively to accomodate the rumored two-way wireless charging feature on all three devices.

Apple is widely expected to unveil its trio of 2019 iPhones in September as usual. The next iPhone XR is expected to be upgraded to a dual-lens rear camera system and is rumored to be available in new green and lavender colors.

Of note, The Elec is not a site with an established track record in relation to Apple rumors. Last month, the website claimed that Samsung is in talks with Apple about supplying OLED displays for a 16-inch MacBook Pro and future iPad Pro models. For now, treat these rumors with at least some skepticism.

Hopefully, they'll use the increased battery size to power a proper FullHD screen.
The year is 2019 not 2009.
