And you received that unreleased information where exactly?

appleinsider, check their website. there were a couple of websites that had scoop about the next gen iphone. The details seemed reliable considering most of the big companies are moving to 1,5-2 Ghz cpus.Android is getting a hefty spec list too.

While I don't doubt that, I find it unlikely Apple would start producing iphone/ipod touches that would need to be replaced every year just to run the newest operating system. The older models would need to be usable for at least a few years. I know my 1G can't handle 4.0, but that an iphone 4 can't handle iOS 5? That's far fetched.

Very true. think about it, your going to be able to see iOS 6, possibly 7 on this new device before you have to upgrade. Even then, you don't have to be running the latest software.

Personally most of my hardware lasts on a 2 to 2.5 year cycle. So after that's up I upgrade anyway. But that's just personal preference

Unfortunately for me, I love having the most up to date software. I don't currently have the money to buy an ipod/laptop every year, but I'm just hoping that Apple doesn't start that dangerous new trend.

Link?

Apple would have to support the iPhone 4 for two years with software updates. Otherwise, what do you expect people who are locked into contracts gonna do?

I don't think the Zune HD is bad, it just doesnt have its full potential. It can run apps and games but Microsoft refuses to bring an app and game store for the Zune so developers can develop apps for the Zune HD. If the Zune HD had an app and games store at over 50,000 apps and if you could actually watch YouTube on it, it would be a no brainer for me. The Zune HD in terms of design just looks way better than the touch and is more scratch resistant.

What I've started to notice too is all these higher end PMP's such as the leaked Archos 32 PMP and Samsung PMP have cameras. I think its more proof that the touch is going to get one.

its not proof, but it makes it more likely that apple will consider it, seeing as other companies are doing it. i mean they where going to last year, was only taken out at the last min.

so its pretty much a given that it will have one

This phrase always bugged me. "At the last minute". Could someone define this as the decision must have been made a good five to six months (or more) before release since they only have a year to work with for any given generation model. Plus they need to make a good number of them at release.

Also, seeing this may be a good sign, but will the release of the new ipod touch (with tons of new features) be a counter to this or will Apple's next ipod be the answer to Samsung's invasion of their turf. They may have made the decision awhile ago to exclude certain features. Then after it was too late to change, they may have seen this and thought, "we should have done that too".

Trust me, apple will have made about 50 (at least) different designs, including and excluding all of the items we have discussed. whatever Steve likes the best
will be what goes on sale.

If Apple wants people to like the design then they should give us some choices. I know that they would never do that, but I still think it's a good idea.:)

Damn right man and yes they'll never do this at least as long as Jobs is CEO of apple :D

Guys I read on the Internet that apple will go for a silicone case on the back preventing the ipod touch 4 from scratching.. What do you think of that?

I sincerely hope that the next iPod Touch will have every feature of iPhone4 minus the calling ability. I want to have something like iPhone4 but I don't want to pay any carrier.

Got a source for that? Anyways, that seems more unlikely than an aluminum back. But, I guess weirder stuff has happened.

I hope too, but Apple would not give us that. Too make money and sell new products every year, they can't give out everything in one year. They stretch out updates slowly to make you come back for more. They can't be revolutionary every single year. The ipod touch will gain all features over time, but when it reaches functionality of one iphone, it will still be a few years back compared to the current iphone.
