Looks like a target to me.
Yes. Yes it does. But it's probably a sensor. Although the sensor is usually close to the middle. And that target is in the spot where a camera would be. Maybe it's like a camera sensor or the back of a camera.

Front cam - 97%
Back cam - 2 mp 35%, 3.2 mp 35%, 5 mp 27%
A4 - 99.9%
Retina - 99.9%
Gyro - 100%
Design - iPhone 4, 97.99% - iPad, 2% (cos then the average joe would see it as a smaller and cheaper iPad and buy it instead, thus eating away at
's profit margins), Same, 0.01%
3G - 0.1% (cos then it would be a cheap iPhone and everyone would buy it instead, thus eating away at's profit margins)
Storage - 8gb for $199 25%, 16gb $199 75%, 32gb for $299 100%, 64gb for $399 100%, 128gb for $499 2%
GPS - 5%
FM Radio - 2%
Colors - Black 100%, White 2%, Anything else 0.0000000000000000000000000000000000000000001%
But to know for sure, we're gonna have to wait till September. If they add everything on this list, I'm sold (and I bet a load of other people will be, too)

Just saying, why do you have some doubt on the front-facing camera? The multiple digitizers leak, and the email-based Facetime seems pretty convincing that we will get the front camera.

Whoops, meant to say 97%. That 50% was meant for one of the back camera percentages, but I must have replaced the front cam percentage by accident.

Pease, rulmors start ! :s If the ipod touch will be released in september ... Shouldn't there be rumors already ? :s
There have already been tons of rumors, enough to keep us satisfied. Rumors of retina and dual cams from gruber, multiple digitizer leaks email based facetime, etc.
Does anyone know whether it is possible to use the front camera in Skype conversations? I hope it's not limited to facetime.
Why the hell would Apple put a proximity sensor on the iPod touch? How often do you hold it up to your ear like a phone?
I don't think that's a proximity sensor, and I don't think that they'll incorporate one. Apple's shown that they want to make sure that they keep these devices within their boundaries -- the iPhone, iPod Touch and the iPad.

Did you even read the thread? No one is talking about proximity sensors. Everyone knows why the touch doesn't need one, so don't try to explain. People were talking about an ambient light sensor.
I want too see a back panel now!!! come oneeeeee if you can get a front panel you can get a back panel
There was a video with someone in a test lab using a back camera, I saw it on youtube, the ipod in question had the front facing camera and the back one, you couldn't see the back panel but there was an icon on the screen and the guy was doing a demo of how to take a picture with it so there was obviously a rear camera. So yes there has been at least once instance of a rear camera rumor.
