Wouldn't worry about no stills camera, someone I'm sure will invent an app for it. Don't worry guys
Yeah, at about 0.7 megapixels. I am really disappointed about the rear camera, even though i thought that they wouldn't bother with one. IMO, photos are more important than videos, especially on just an iPod.
Does anyone know if the new iPod Touch has a built in mic???? If it has two cameras, it should have a mic too!!!

So basically if the back camera ONLY takes video, Apple again failed to give us all the absolute 1 thing we all wanted - A CAMERA ON THE IPOD TOUCH!!!!
If that is truly the case and you cannot take still pictures with the back camera, I will not buy it -

It does take stills, though probably lower res.

The camera is disappointing but I can see why they did that. It's mostly for taking movies and upload to You Tube. Also the lower rez camera is thinner so that it can fit the new design. I see that the back is the same scratchable stainless steel. I could live with that but no GPS and no 3g to stay connected amounts to a fail for me. I was really hoping to get one. They don't even tell you which A4 chip it has 256meg or 512 meg.
Only thing left for me to hope for is a 6-7 inch iPad later this Fall.

Sorry about that guys. It actually does take stills according to their website! All photos are taken in 720p High deffinition! I read it wrong! I just preordered one! I can't wait untill next week!
Also, all of us were wrong! The 8 gig is also a 4th generation! But with all the space we need for photos, i don't know anyone who would limit themselves to an 8 gig touch!
pre-ordered my 32gb too . Sold my iPod Touch 3g about 2months ago waiting for this day. + It's bound to take pics, Jobs said that new HDR Pictures thing is for iPhones/iPod Touches. How is meant to work on touch if the touch don't take pictures? so clearly it does

If I am not mistaken, I also heard him say that with 4.2 on the ipad, the HDR photo thing will be enabled! That means the Ipad is getting a cam too!

Good for you. Two questions though on that. When can I get it if I pre order? Are all models the same? Or is the 8GB a rehashed 3G?

So, i would like to tell you that, in fact, i am getting a 4G! Ahhhh!
They did release an 8gb, and that was what i was hoping for. I am yet to see if they will have let me down or not, depending on what specs it has. I hope to see at least a camera, retina, and a gyroscope. But for $229, its just a good deal.
So, Tell Me Who's Excited!
So, i would like to tell you that, in fact, i am getting a 4G! Ahhhh!

I am sorely depressed at the lack of a 3G 128GB ipod that flies through the air and sings barbershop style when other ipods are nearby.
Only kidding, This thing made my day, and will likely make my day again when it is available!
Speaking of which, when is that day? The keynote said one week, but not a date.
No idea. Even though i started this thread, i havent been very intertwined with... actually anything involving the legit Touch. First of all, they kept the........ Chrome!?!?!?!??!? Whats up with that? And second of all, it does have a front and back camera! I was right! (That wasnt towards you, it was to all the nonbelievers.)
I don't know which I hate more. Waiting for a new device to come out or waiting for it to be shipped! I wish that it was, by some miracle, same day shipping!
