iPod touch The Next iPod Touch

final wrapup!
So since we are so close to the event now, why don't we finish things off with a wrap-up of what we think the next Ipod Touch will feature.!
-A4 Processor
-Front Cam (VGA for facetime)
-Back cam with about 3.2 megapixles
-Possibly Retina Display
-New design to resemble a mix between the ipad and the iphone
-512 MB of ram
-16/32/64
-3rd/4th/4th
-Gyroscope
-Option of white!
Well I think that seems kinda far-fetched but who knows! Apple is full of surprises!!!

hey guys do any of you think the new ipods will be available next day either in the apple stores or in places like currys and comet?
That is what I would and will be planning for. Since the previous versions were all released on the 9th, I believe that this version will be released on the 9th.

I'm new to the forum. Just curious, as I haven't followed so closely in the past, if the new iPod Touch will likely be available to purchase tomorrow and if so would it be from the Apple store only or perhaps from a discount vendor like Amazon.com? Hopefully some of you guys/gals with past experience on launch days will have a good idea of what is the 'norm'. I just returned a 3g iPod Touch as I heard about the launch this week. Had this happen to me before when I bought my macbook pro... new version came out a month later.

The new ipod will be officially revealed tomorrow. It will also likely be in Apple stores tomorrow as well. It may take a week or so to find them at Amazon.
so that basically answers my question aswell...but cos i the conference will be a 6pm gmt will they be in store on the 2nd or will they be launched the same day?

Whatever happens, I am willing to bet that we get a retina display for gaming and a front camera for face time as it needs one to back up Steve jobs' claims of the amount of devices that will have face time. It will also have an A4 processor as Apple is moving all iOs devices onto it.
I personally don't see them putting in a back camera... Yet, that will be next years upgrade, even though I would like one. I also don't see them changing the design unless they change the chrome to aluminium.
Just my sensible, realistic opinion.

-16/32/64 - likely, but maybe still an 8gb with a lower price point
-3rd/4th/4th - likely
-Gyroscope - doubtful
-Option of white! - no, they can't even get that right with the iPhone

6 PM GMT? In central time (Wisconsin) the event is at noon. Shouldn't GMT be at 11 AM? I am fairly sure that a little while after the reveal, I can walk down and get one. Thursday morning at the very worst.
No back camera? Not even a VGA? That wouldn't sound right as the whole point is to switch back and forth.

There are three Apple Stores within a 10 mile radius of my home so I am pretty sure one of them will have them in stock. Judging from the long lines for the iPhone when it was released this summer and the fact that local stores STILL don't have many in stock, is it likely that I should plan on long lines for the Touch?

Why is the Gyroscope not likely?! When Apple first announced the Iphone 4 and it had a Gyroscope, That was the one thing I knew for certain that the Ipod touch would get.
They are marketing the Touch as a gaming device and the only thing the gyro would be god for are games so why not incorporate it into the Ipod. It's cheap, its small, its simple enough to put in, and it matches the ipod perfectly.
I'm pretty sure the point of face time is for people to see your face rather than what's in front of you.

The iphone lets you see whats in front of you as well as yourself. Why wouldn't the ipod?
Dang, if the next iPod touch has many of those features mentioned, that could be as close to the iPhone 4 experience without needing a phone contract as we can get. To Verizon users, just buy the iPod touch. It may mean to carry multiple devices, but it is the price to pay if you don't want to deal with AT&T. Microphone and FaceTime already makes it very close to a phone. They should stop calling it an iPod and call it an iPad mini.
I may just get next year's model just to jailbreak and get the 128GB capacity.

Because apple needs to somehow differentiate the iPod Touch and the iPhone. If you want facetime, use any idevice, if you want to take photos/or videos of whats in front of you, buy an iPhone.

I sold my ipod touch 3g and my mom gave me birthday money so I can buy the ipod touch 4g. As long as the new ipod touch gets retina display and a camera anywhere on the ipod touch I am buying right away
