Everyone breathe!...now repeat after me:

'There will be no update today'
'I will not be disappointed because I have already accepted todays outcome'
'I will wait patiently for an update some other time'

EDIT: I hope I'm talking bullcrap because I don't want to face reality!!

As I said in the other thread last night, no update this Tuesday. Going to stick with my prediction that we aren't going to see an update until late spring/early summer.

As much as i'd love an update to the MBP, i doubt it today, or for a few weeks also. With the delivery of the MBA's fast approaching, it is highly unlikely that Apple will want to overshadow this with the MBP update. (Mainly due to the fact that a MBP update would far out-do the MBA in my opinion)

Lets all keep our fingers crossed though, i like being wrong!

I was so sure there would be an update..Guess my instincts were wrong!

Not a snowball's chance in hell...

MacBook Pro's are too prestigious for a simple random Tuesday update, especially for the type of update they are about to receive.

And the Macpro isn't???? That was updated as a silently!

Lets hope something happens today. I'm itching to get my money out and worse my G/F is giving me stick for being on her Macbook all the time!

If nothing happens soon i'll pick up a Macpro!

I'm getting itchy as well. More refurbs were added (Older models) at awesome prices. Having this money sitting in my checking account isn't good...

I'm not waiting for one, but I wouldn't dismiss today yet, as I think it's still a few hours too early to make your conclusions, I only once caught the website offline like that for an update and it was around lunchtime (another hour or two in my country)

Not that this may be of any use, I remember the PowerBook 12" was updated this Tuesday (Wednesday here in Australia) exactly three years ago.

Arn, talked about possible upgrade this tuesday. As the mastermind behind macrumors i tend to find him somewhat turstworthy or @ least rumor worthy :) and want to sit the next 2 weeks out. If nothing is updated the coming 2 weeks i will go ahead and buy... all this waiting is just silly!

I was sick of waiting after macworld and vowed i'd cave in, and look where i am now

Frantically refreshing the UK store:p

I am so sick of the waiting ( and sick of Apple keeping customers in the dark ) that I would buy a 15" refurb RIGHT NOW - but there are none in the UK store at all. I'm not pissing an extra £300-400 away on a new laptop when currently, the MBPs are out of date AND over priced. I can handle one of those ( out of date OR over priced ) but not both.

i really wanted an update today, i hope it's early days yet, so they still do have a few hours. i'm sad :(

they didn't on the Mac Pro

hmm at what time of the day do they normally update products?

The store normally closes at 7:00 AM EST on Tuesday's that have major product releases. If the release is HUGE (i.e. the MBA) it will remain closed until 12:00 PM EST, otherwise it will reopen around 9:00 AM EST. That is the trend I have noticed.

So who is going to buy after the dissapointment of no announcement today!

You miss the point of the frustration

Mac freaks are funny .... O C D O C D O C D

I think that you are missing something real here. As OS X Users we are in a unique predicament. We can't shop around and find the best deal available at the time, we have to patiently wait for things to come on Apple's schedule. Sony and Lenovo have their Penryns available with HP and Compaq soon to follow, and all of their Meroms are now on deep discount. I can't investigate those, because they use an operating system that is worthless to me.

I have been waiting since November because all indications had new MBPs at Macworld. Why bother waiting, then? Because Apple doesn't drop their prices as their machines get old - and because while I am willing to pay the quality premium for Apple products, I am not willing to be ripped off. All indications say changes are coming soon, and have for a while.

I was a system builder on the PC side before I switched in 2002 and I am still not entirely accustomed to vendor lock-in. OS X is an incredible operating system, but while I like apple hardware, it's not why I switched. Times like this, where there is an obvious decline in value of a product and apple refuses to tip its hat to that, I wonder how loyal I would be if Linux caught up just a little more. I would pay $500 for an OSX license for any hardware. Having to wait around when I am ready to buy just to keep from being fleeced is maddening.
