I wonder how many weeks we'll be resurrecting this thread....

Like anyone searches in this forum...we're going to see a new permutation of this not-so-official thread each time someone looks at the calendar and sees a Tuesday coming up.

Depends where you are located ;) When the store got updated for the pink Nano and Mac Pros, it was already up by the time I awoke. Seems like they update in the early morning, west-coast Pacific time.. Someone mentioned 5 AM PST in another thread.

Last time it was 1 p.m. GMT

I expect all the stuff everybody is waiting for as
MP with NVIDIA 8800
Aperture 1.6 or 2.0
MBP
as soon as OS X 10.5.2. is released (and not before that)
The real question therefore is:

When will OS X 10.5.2. be released?

Everyones saying 'Super Tuesday' will delay the MBP release?

Who says it will? Could be a good day to release such a product.

Everyone in the U.S goes to vote and for those who want their new updated MBP, pop into their local Apple Shop and put in an order.

Apple sales increase and Steve gets richer..

Ugh. Ok, for the FINAL TIME: THE NEW MBP's WILL NOT HAVE 8800's!!!!!

Everyone keeps saying they will... it bugs me.

Do the research my friends. The 8800 is way too hot and power hungry for the MBP's 1-inch thin aluminum chassis. Unless you want a 1.5-inch thick MBP that gets 1 1/2 hours of battery life, you won't be seeing the 8800 in them.

Powerbook G5 Tomorrow

I think because I am shopping for a new computer, the updates will never come. Right now I am in the great debate. I am retiring my current iBook G4. Should I go Macbook or Pro? When I bought my iBook, it was meant to be a stop gap till the PBG5's came out. You know how that worked out. And then I was ready to go whole hog and get a new Intel Macbook Pro. And then the redesigned MBs came out with the magnetic latch. So I told myself, wait till the MBPs get redesigned with a magnetic latch before proceeding........

And you know what happened next. We'll see if the wait is finally over.

I highly doubt Apple will update tomorrow or in February. Tomorrow is Super Tuesday and that's all the news stations will be covering for the week. Apple would not intentionally launch a new product or product update on a day they know the press will be busy with something else. As others have suggested, it is more likely for a mini press event in March. Apple waited until June to update to SR for th MBP last year. They want to capture the college market. And by updating closer to summer, more people will buy. it is always good to have a re-fresh as the college laptop season approaches.

Believe me, I know how hard the wait is. I waited many months last year for the SR update before buying my MBP for college.

There's no way Apple will wait for more than a few months to put in the Penyrns into the MBP, other manufacturers will soon. Apple need to keep competitive..

There's no way I'm buying the current line of MBP.. over priced ( Canadian Dollar exchange rates ) and old technology ( not current mobile processors).

If its not tomorrow it'll be in the next few weeks - NOT months.

It'll happen soon after 10.5.2 is released.

i don't see any reason why the MBP can't be thicker. if it means more power and a TRUE desktop replacement, then hell yes

It is funny that most people who say "buy now, a new one will always be down the line" have a current MBP.

I dont see why "Super Tuesday" is a problem - it isn't as if the media even cover silent Apple updates. Besides, a large portion of Apples market is international, the rest of the world dont even care about "Super Tuesday".

But 1PM GMT is midnight AEST. Fingers crossed.

Got to ask, what's super Tuesday??

Yeah, he actually said "MP" not "MBP" in a list of things people were waiting for including MBP and Aperture

Perfect example showing that it won't make a difference if it's released on Super Tuesday (I do see that you're in the UK).

Well right now, a bunch of candidates from the two major political parties here in the US (the Democrats and the Republicans) are running to be our next President, to be elected in Nov. 2008 and to take office in Jan. 2009.....ahh this is going to be too complicated to write, here's just a wikipedia article ;):

edit: looks like ibeaumont beat me to it...even posted the same wikipedia article--small world.

Wow. US elections are overly complicated. Isn't it still about a year before the actual election??

Sorry, offtopic, new MBP soon (hopefully) woo!

This too is off-topic, but yeah, way too complicated. What is more annoying is that we were getting coverage of it months ago, which we dont even care about.

That is my rant anyway. Bring on the new MBPs. :D

This November....and all this election stuff hasn't started recently. It's been in the news every day for about a year.

Indeed, I really need to replace my aging iBook. Apple, answer my forlorn prayers!

Please, apple hardware is ALWAYS overpriced.

To call the current MBP's outdated is rubbish.

I have practiced what I preach: I dropped $3,350 on a 17" MBP 2.6, 200 7200rpm 4 weeks ago for a project. This is my third MBP for my company.

If you need a machine buy it.

Buying my most recent has already made us many thousands in sales (this MBP is a sales demo unit.).

The Penryn update is a very minor, almost negligible boost.

The real updates come this summer and fall.

FYI.

i love when i hear people use the word rubbish :D

maybe its cuz of i have a huge crush on emma watson (as well as miley cyrus aka hannah montana)..not the music just i think theyre both really pretty

IM 15 EVERYONE, don't stick the pedobear on me...

Ok, the site will go down and then come back up only with a rainbow colored iPod....

Seriously though, these Mondays have been like Christmas eve, only to wake up to coal in the stocking. Come on Jolly Steve-O, Pro! Pro! Pro!

Unless you plan to do nothing but read stuff on the Internet and e-mail, go with a MacBook Pro if you can afford it. I don't know how well Photoshop would run on a MacBook, but I know it runs better with the actual video card in here. A 15" screen is also quite nice.
