Yeah, if it's anything like the last couple weeks it should be about 8:30 AM EST.

I love this. I'm not officially a Mac user as of yet, at least physically, yet I'm already in on all the hoopla Monday nights / Tuesday mornings!

Hahaha! Same here. I used Macs up through school, but when I entered the workforce it's been all PCs. Can't wait to start using a Mac/Apple OS again!

So... wouldn't today be more like a Monday what with the holiday and all? If not, why does Apple hate America's Presidents?

Yeah true. This Tuesday doesn't seem as likely as the rumored 26th event. I guess we'll have an idea if the store doesn't go down by 3:30-4:30 AM PST.

What's the deal with this rumored event? From the little I know about Steve Jobs and Apple, usually something substantial comes from an event. If this is the case, I obviously hope it's dealing with the MBP being remodeled!

Your right there they will definitely have more to show us than the SDK. Now we just have to wait for this ":apple: special event" as they call them wether it's tomorrow or the 26th your guess is as good as mine.

Gus

Say, about this Penryn update that's supposed to happen at some point. Does anybody foresee issues that will need to be worked out like the Core Duo? I've heard around that the Core Duo processor had problems and that the Core 2 Duo is much better. If this is the case with Penryn it seems it would be best to wait for at least one revision before buying a MBP with Penryn. Am I mistaken here?
Any thoughts on this?

Yeah, I'd like to believe you are. The next revision (after the imminent one) will most likely be the Montevina update.

The Penryn processor plugs straight in to the currently tried and tested Santa Rosa chipset. It is the last of a tried and tested platform, a final revision if you like. It will be rock solid and void of any problems the next platform may bring (Montevina etc)

Ok so I feel optimistic at the moment. Maybe not this week but pretty confident it'll come before feb. If you look at the rest of the product line there have been changes to almost everything, except the Macbook Pro??

Steve's keynote indicated 52 updates in 2008, 1 for each for each week, so can anybody take a guess at what update we'll be seeing if not the new Macbook Pro?

Thanks davidec, that's good to know. I think I may change from "Waiting for Montevina" status to "Waiting for Penryn" status and get one around the time it comes out.

Eventually, Apple Cinema Display....

But I don't hope this, I want a new MBP ! The wait is too long !!!!

Well, I started a list (Post #594) so place your bet!

So, once again the Tuesday wait starts! What will we get this time? Place your bets everyone!
  • Updated MBP
  • "Blast To The Past" 80's neon iPod Nanos
  • "The Prisoner" TV series released on iTunes
  • An iWork update
  • Time Capsule now shipping
  • New ACDs
  • An invitation to the rumored 26th event
  • Job's retirement letter
  • PowerBook G5

Hmmm well if I had to have a stab at it I'd say:

- My Little Pony limited edition iPop Nano's

Just in time for Easter!

The store normally goes down in about 3 hours right?

Hahaha. Yeah, that sounds about right.
Yep, the Apple store should go down about 3:30 AM PST. Except as today was Presidents day, will it go down?

Same here! I miss them. I remember my first day with Windows (3.1) and I tried to group icons, and was sad to discover I was unable to :).

Tomorrow the site will go down as usual and when it comes back it up it will be time capsule this time.

I'm 100% sure of it.

Seems like a somewhat anti-climatic announcement doesn't it? Although I have to say I agree with you.
Either way, by the end of play today we should have more of an idea of Apples intentions with the MPB. The worst news for me would be no news. This would mean no 'Special Event' and no MBP update.

Can I just confirm. Today is a public holiday in the states? Any precedents set by Apple by upgrading the store on a US public holiday?
