Scenario:
F) Apple have shifted their strategy back to their computers for 2008 and have publicly stated their desire to have several product updates per month.
Ok you have made some good points there.
but where did u get this info. from? mainly the part where said several product updates a month?
do u mean in general or for each indiviual product?
so far they have updated something every tuesday so this sounds right.
At the
very least, Apple could drop the Penryn processors into the existing Santa Rosa boards for an interim update. The thought that this
wouldn't happen is, as has been pointed out by others, somewhat ludicrous. Is it possible that Apple foregoes any major changes to the MBP until Montevina? Perhaps. But foregoing a simple chip upgrade? I don't think so.
There's also some shortsightedness in these forums when discussing Montevina as the platform upon which the MBP could see a case redesign. For one thing, the MBP case size is not incredibly changeable, as I believe thickness is currently limited by port openings and footprint is currently limited by screen size. Regardless, if I'm Apple and I'm really wanting to do a case redesign, I'm going to forget about Montevina and wait for Nehalem (end of 2008), which will be a far more radical and progressive departure than Montevina.
The gist of what I'm saying is, there is always something new on the horizon, but companies like Apple need to innovate with what is here now, not with what will be here tomorrow. Likewise, we as consumers need to get over our bedwetting about not having tomorrow's technologies and enjoy what we have today... and I'm totally preaching to myself, as I'm waiting for this new MBP to drop before buying one and the anticipation is driving me nuts!
