Darn. Now not only do I not get to order a new MBP, I will also get fired for throwing my work computer around the classroom while yelling "*&^$£@*^ SHUFFLE!!!!!" at the kids.

*deeeeeeeeeeeeeep sigh....*

Let the waiting (re)commence...

I thought it was going to be a great morning, i had a dream that i was in an apple store and they had the update and me the store worker went absolutely nuts, when i awoke, i immediately went to my laptop, hit refresh on my already opened Apple store to see it was down...sat here watching Saved By The Bell and hitting refresh...all for a shuffle price cut.

Saved By The Bell?!?! No wonder you feel depressed!

If the wait for the new Macbook Pro redesign is because of the following additions then I'll wait.

I would love to see these in a Macbook Pro

- SSD 128gb or 160gb SATA 2 drives..

- Montevina Processor

- Case Redesign

- eSATA port since it is the fastest way to transfer to external drives, good for rendering videos

- USB 3.0

Come on Apple let us know what your plans are for specs...everyone releases roadmaps for future hardware...

At least let your customers know what to expect. Jeez. lol

- SSD 128gb or 160gb SATA 2 drives..

Got $1000-$1500 to burn?

- Montevina Processor

June

- Case Redesign

With Montevina, if at all. Penryn is a very minor change to the platform - there's no means to shrink, and no means to make the thermal requirements any less demanding. The case will stay essentially identical if they upgrade to Penryn

- eSATA port since it is the fastest way to transfer to external drives, good for rendering videos

Get an express card.

- USB 3.0

2009. If you're lucky. Seriously, the spec is just out, devices will not be out for AGES.

That's the trick. Buy the outdated machine, at outdated prices, 12 seconds before the new model. It's Apple giving you the shaft. It's unacceptable, and frankly, it's a game I refuse to play. Buy a NEW MBP right now - you would have to be MAD. Get something off Ebay or a Refurb for 25% less.

Some valid points. maybe I should've put it in the Macbook Pro Dream Specs thread. Lawl :D

but check this out...interesting to say the least...even though the MB Air has SSD. Prices are falling fast on SSD media and I bet at the end of the year they will be alot lower as they go more mainstream.

My only wish is for an updated GPU. Once the refresh does finally roll out I'll be ordering one right away if the price is not much higher and the GPU gets a bump. Otherwise I'll just hang onto my money a while longer as I won't actually be NEEDING it until this fall when I start graduate school.

To what? There are no higher performing mobile parts in the same thermal envelope as the current one.

Doug

it seems to me that no one on here cares about rational thought when it comes to what they 'need' or want in the new mbp...either that, or they don't realize that just because there is a 8800GTXblahblahblah in their friends window's machine (desktop), it won't work in their laptop.

/shrug.

I ordered mine on friday, tomorrow I'll be playing on it. I'd rather have one now (I already waited a freaking month), and then update in a year or so and have an _even_ better machine than the people who are waiitng for the next release.

there will always be something better on the horizon, you won't have the best forever. buy when you want and enjoy it, don't keep waiting for 'the next one'.

foolish really to think like that when you know that a new one is coming out in the next few weeks!

it's like buying a canon d400 when you know the d450 is around the corner!

Sorry for not realizing that an 8700MGT or 512MB 8600MGT was an irrational request.

Isn't there a mobile version of the 8800? I know the 9xxx series, if a mobile version is out there, is likely to hot/power hungry. I was under the impression that an 8800 was doable, though. 256 VRAM standard on all models would be nice too.

I know the MBP is not built to be a game machine, but I want it to be at least reasonably capable at it. Penryns are a given in the next update - the other thing I am looking for is some kind of graphics card update. If it doesn't come, or really isn't possible, I guess I keep waiting!

I DO think this update will be more than Penryn though. Otherwise they would have announced it by now. To most non-techies, Penryn amounts to a "speed bump," and not something that needs delayed or announced with fanfare. I don't expect a major re-design, but we may see the MBA keyboard.

I get this, I think most people on this form get this. However, most of us don't want to pay Apple's premium prices for yesterdays hardware. I have no problem that you want to buy the current gen, but just know that you are paying way more then you should.

Due to the way Apple prices their hardware prices never go down (direct from them, dont post about the amazon rebate or whatever, I know) and the hardware continues to get cheaper. When Apple first releases a product such as SR MBPs their margins are small, but those margins widen as the components get cheaper.

Essencially you are getting ripped off buying the current gen, if you dont have a problem with that, go ahead. Those of us who wait a few more weeks and get the latest and greatest will be getting the most bang for our buck.

I am anxiously awaiting an update myself. I think I want to trade my air for a pro.

:apple: is playing with our heads. Shuffle?! Honestly.. this is the worst news one could get on a tuesday

And a Tuesday after a U.S. holiday at that. Well, one less release to continue stalling the release of the MBPro. I hope it is soon or I may just wait for summer.

It will come

I am sick becuase I am looking at the computer screen at theApple web site refresh over and over and over and over until i feel sick from looking at it . We know it is FOR SURE this is not speculation. Best buys is proof, they have a new spot in there invetory for a MBP that has no inventory and has a code for new product being shipped so it is coming in the next few days, so everyone keep it up and we will celebrate together. I have 2600.oo in my pocket and I am dying not knowing what to do, buy the Air or wait for this new MBP AIR 15 " , it is confirmened that the 15" will come in 2 styles the Air without the built in drive just like the air or with the drive and have the new trackpad only except the 15" Air model will have a 120 gb Hard Drive and a 2.2 ghz processor. Just when is the question. There is also a new change to the Macbook but I am not sure what it is. I have a friend who has a friend who has a firend that knows someone that has a buddy that works deep inside the new product division at infinite drive (cupertino) so I am hoping this is reliable and I am going to go ahead and believe it because I want a 15" MBPRO AIR!!!!!!!!!!!!

I find it...oh..I don't know..interesting, when people think its necessary to reassure themselves that they should rip themselves off by posting in a thread such as this that they are happy buying old technology for a premium price. You are dumb. :apple:

Since when has anything like that been "confirmened"?

Ah, yes, sounds like quite the reliable source. I wil give you this, though and I'll use myself as a source: Something will happen with the MB. You know, it will. But then again, saying that is like saying "Windows will bring a security update. I don't know with what and when, but they will bring it."

good thing im in no rush for the new one to come out... altho I am tired of using a windows computer!
I excited for a new revision and I can wait till it comes out...
