I mean, numbers are numbers. The price of Nintendo games basically hasn't gone up ever.

Switch games were mostly $60, with TotK being $70.

Now S2 games are mostly $70(hopefully?), with MKW being $80.

It sucks that the price of anything has gone up, but prices absolutely have gone up, for everything. I really have no idea why there is so much backlash about the pricing of S2 games. It's really not much of an increase at all, taking the current state of the world into consideration.

That's the concern. DK Bonanza is $70, but Switch 2 editions are $80 and MK World is $80. The trend is more $80 than $70 as it currently stands, and $70 sucks considering these aren't 400 million dollar budget games. not going to throw 3rd party in the mix since that varies much more / more factors less in Nintendos control than their flagship first party titles.

The switch 2 edition of BotW is $70. But like you're saying, it's hard to judge on just a few titles there.

The pricing for the switch 2 editions are also very confusing, as it is much cheaper to get the switch 1 title and upgrade (or just get the upgrade for free with online) than it is to buy the s2 edition directly. I will admit, it doesn't make sense, but the more expensive s2 edition is not the only/best way to get the upgraded game/content. I'm guessing those prices will come down quickly and they are just taxing day-1 people.

We basically have 2 truly new s2 nintendo titles to judge, so trying to label trends just feels premature. It also seems strange to judge dkb for being $70 when we have no idea how deep or rich or good the game is yet.

I’ve just got back from the Switch 2 experience at the excel in London, overall quite impressed. The size increase is great, much more comfortable to use if you have larger hands, the screen is very good too. Mario kart was great fun hand held mode, everything ran smoothly.
The mouse function on the controllers worked well, but seems a bit gimmicky to me.
The new pro controller is superb. Nicer finish and the additional buttons on the rear are perfectly placed for me and feel much better placed than say the rear buttons on the ps5 edge controller.
It was quite busy so didn’t get to play anything for too long, but the 20 minute play I had of donkey kong was fantastic, that’s going to be a great game.
I don’t think il get one at launch to be honest I’ll probably wait a bit, The games I played were great but not compelling enough for me to bust a gut to get one.

jealous!

how was Mario Kart World and can we get more specifics on screen? Good enough to not miss the OLED? seems like those black levels and off axis leave a little to be desired but otherwise pretty nice from what I can tell / have seen in YouTube.

Mario kart world, I tried it single player, with one other, and it was superb. There was a 19 player tournament but the queues were a bit long and despite being British and therefore preprogrammed to enjoy queueing I didn’t want to. I was watching it on a projector though and it looked great fun, ran well too.
I wasn’t fond of the large screens they were using there in docked mode, so the fact that in handheld mode it was totally engrossing was a relief. I’ve got the oled switch and really didn’t miss it, black levels were fine but I didn’t move it off axis to check the angles I’m afraid.
Build quality is much better than switch 1. It feel hewn from rock compared to my oled, the controller’s attachment was rock solid. They are not coming off by accident!
The big takeaway for me though was just how much more comfortable it was to use handheld. The size increase of the controllers makes the button placement significantly better for me. Hmm, I think I’m talking myself into getting it at launch, dammit..

And are the maps on Mario kart fun? Lots of people concerned not enough turns / too many wide roads that are straight aways. Im hoping there’s enough variety in game (for a Mario kart)

Very jealous you got to go to the Excel! I tried to get tickets but failed sadly.

From everything i've seen from the weekend it all looks awesome and I can't wait to get mine on launch! Got mine pre-ordered from Argos.

Switch 2 console and launch games will stay the same price, but accessories are all going up (in the states). Bummer. I was sure hoping they would just stick with all prices.

I pre-ordered mine soon after it was available. I got the Mario Kart bundle. Can't wait for June to come so I could play with it.

June5

Preorders next Thursday. Midnight at target seems like 11 am est at GameStop. Not sure about others.
Midnight for walmart also.

Best Buy will open at midnight for launch day, but haven't advertised an exact time for preorders.

So here’s a question - Wal Mart says midnight ET as well, but right now it’s 7:48 a.m. and their countdown timer says 18 hours, 12 min, which is 2:00 a.m. Central time (midnight PT).

Midnight eastern should be 11 Central, so I’m really confused.

yeah the timer doesn't add up for me either-- doesn't match what local preorder time should be and doesn't correlate with an east coast time of midnight either.

Pre-ordered the Switch 2 Mario kart bundle here in the UK. Had to order it in person at Curry’s/PC world store as they were not doing any online orders. I love Nintendo first party games like Mario so will have a blast.Looking forward to the larger screen and new content.
Kind of jealous of this. Online ordering is nice until there's this huge scalper / bot situation. I feel like in person pre-ordering would help mitigate a lot of that.

Makes me appreciate how Apple does things-- some inventory allocated for in-person purchase, but an online queue so that you could order early and even if you don't get launch day you at least can be done chasing / securing an order, you just have to wait a little longer as orders get fulfilled in the order received.

I had one in my cart at target, but it just errored out and now won't let me add one anymore. BB never stopped saying coming soon, and Walmart just has a line.

Keep trying with Target. 22 minutes of errors later, I finally got through. They are slowly rolling out the preorders so that they don't get snatched by scalpers, but I think you have the best chance of success there.

I can’t get through with any of them. I’m in line at WalMart and Best Buy, and Target dropped the one from my cart. 😩
