ugh, i got my target order in but was canceled just soon as i got it in. upsetting.
Yeah just not sure how long it’s reasonable to sit here. It’s been an hour for WalMart and 45 minutes for Best Buy
Yeah that happened to me with WM as well, but it’s been over an hour and it’s still not my turn. I think if I would’ve gotten on Target right at midnight, I’d have gotten one.
And Best Buy was a nightmare. It kept telling me to confirm my location, but every time I’d pick my store, it would reset and there would be nothing.
Well, after a full hour of being in line, the Best Buy page just refreshed, and I was no longer in line. Lovely.
Yeah, but it sucks because we have been members, but not for online play, so we’re out for that one.
it was about 45 minutes for me at Walmart. no idea how these queues work though.
Target was bad. I got it in my cart pretty quickly but their checkout / payment systems just crumbled. My brother managed to successfully complete his order just by sheer will of repeatedly clicking I think. I kept trying until it removed it from my cart and told me it was sold out :S
Well BB refreshed and booted me out of line. I’m still in at WM, but it’s been over an hour and a half, and I think it’s all just BS at this point.
I’m so disheartened. I wanted to pre-order so I could be sure to have one in time for my grandson’s birthday, but what a joke. And I KNOW you won’t be able to touch one for months after release.
Might as well hop back on at BB as long as you're in line at Walmart if they let you.
These pre-orders are crazy. the amount of traffic / demand that hits these retailers at once is overwhelming. I've heard some people suggest that BB and Walmart are doing some work to weed out scalpers so that could be part of the wait. Some kind of process happening behind the scenes. 🤷🏻♂️
i would give best buy another go. it booted me a few times too, but i kept at it. keep refreshing, i got my order in.
I just saw 8 of the bundle appear on Walmart. after saying they were sold out. they may be getting order cancellations, they may be cancelling some orders if they can see scalpers... or they may be gradually releasing some inventory 🤷🏻♂️ Glad you kept at it 😄
Sounds like a bit of a mess for pre-orders in the US. Over here it was fairly straightforward with retailers, you just had to be lucky to be there when they went on sale. Across the first week, multiple retailers had re-stocks (Argos, Very, EE) and now Amazon have had regular restocks in the past couple of days. Amazon initially had an invite system similar to Nintendo but they've stopped that now.
Glad I got mine in the day after the direct from Argos with launch day delivery confirmed. I just need to order the Pro Controller which I'll do next weekend when my sister can get me a good discount on it as I also have some vouchers to use haha. I've also got Mario Kart, official carry case & an SD card pre-ordered too.

I think Walmart and Target were periodically restocking preorders last night, so keep checking back with them too from time to time. Target has a “notify when it’s back in stock” button.

I'll probably buy one to run switch games at an acceptable frame-rate (i own an OG switch).
I had a similar experience to all of you. I wanted to order from Target, as I have a target credit card. I was trying in their app and on their website, but got a litany of errors. The funniest one was that I got a fraud block from my target credit card that blocked the purchase when I think it was actually trying to go through (I've never purchased anything this expensive from Target).
I was also in line at walmart and refreshing best buy's website. Best Buy kept showing a greyed out button and said there were none available for delivery nor pick up. But around 12:30, Best Buy's button came to life and I got a preorder for pick up on launch day (mkw bundle). My daughter's birthday is just a few days after launch, so I am really excited to get this!

Yeah I messed up by thinking BB would actually have pre-orders at midnight like the other two did. Had I known they were gonna shift orders by a half hour I would have started with Walmart instead of messing around with Target.
I definitely appreciate the efforts to limit bots and scalpers, but it doesn't really make it a ton easier for consumers. It's funny that we are this far into the future and haven't figured out a better way to sell high-demand stuff on the internet.
I wanted a launch day pickup at BB because they had the midnight opening, and I thought it would be really fun to do that with my grandson. One of the best memories I have with my son is from taking his young self to Wal-mart and sitting in line to (hopefully) get a Nintendo Wii. Wal Mart had 12, and we were number 7 in line. We had the best time (him, my mom, and I) all wrapped up in it. I know it seems lame for a “best” memory, but it was super huge to him at the time.
But right now I’m just thankful I got one at all, and hoping Wal-mart doesn’t cancel my order.
