Anyone see the Simon/Ruutu incident on youtube link

It looks like Wang got his lighthouse project from under his butt for a day and did the right thing to suspend him from the team. After the hit on Hollweg and numerous idiotic things he's done in the past i'm surprised he is still in the league. link

I'm surprised the league isn't taking action on this.

I was at that game. Nobody and I mean nobody saw it in the Coliseum. We were all like the WTF a Match Penalty?!?!!? It was a smart decision by the team to "suspend" him. Chris Simon needs to leave the NHL.

Usually I don't care about hockey, but Im quite amused with this outdoor snow game. Maybe if they played more of these I'd watch more.

Why amused? This is quite an achievement for the NHL.

The first professional hockey game played outside in the US.

This is absolutely glorious!

I'm patiently waiting for the Isles/Rangers outdoor game :D

They should play more games outside, isn't that how the game started.

You're not thinking of the toll it takes on the players as well as the fans my friend. Don't give that crap about football. Football moves nowhere near the speed of hockey.

let's see if we end up with a winter classic next year. I think they did a good job in preparations

The NHL did do a great job so far. I hope we gets another one.

If the ratings are good you will see all the games outside.

Highly doubtful. The sight lines can't possibly be the good. Look how far away the fans are from the rink.

Hockey is a true outdoor game tho.

I know it is, but that doesn't take away from the fact that you can't play hockey outdoors in most cities in October. And again the toll it takes on the players is much greater than it is indoors.

Personally I don't think Hockey should be played in the south where it never gets cold anyways.

I don't think Bob Costas is having fun in the cold.

There's obviously a fan base for it, why not? The Lighting (04), Hurricanes (06) and Ducks (07) were the past Stanley Cup Champions. 2 from the south and one 1 from SoCal.

Have you ever seen a hockey game in person MacNut? Once you go, you get addicted. Hockey on TV is nothing like it is in person.

Bob Costas never looks like he's having fun.

They are trying to get a team back here tho.

I know they are. I am a hockey fan ya know :p

Let's Go Whalers!

WOOOHOOOOO, my boy Sid put it away! Conklin is looking waaaaay better than Fleury EVER has, which has impressed me a ton!

I loved this snowy atmosphere, I don't think the NHL could've had better luck with the weather and how the game played out. Comments?

It was a good game for the first period. The second period...no shots on goal...WHAT? The third picked up, and OT made me bite my hand off.

Also don't say that about Fleury, we miss him dearly and Ty is looking good, but then again all of the Pens goalies go through cycles.

Sid's a punk:):):) I'm loving this:D How's this sound Flyers vs Pens at Penn state

Happy New Year

Really wish the Sabres could have pulled that one out. Good game though...the first ten minutes were classic. Pucks bouncing every which way, dump-ins going about 20 feet before dying in a mound of snow along the boards...too bad the whole game couldn't have been like that. :D

Spectacular game by both teams. The NHL did a great job with this, it just sucked that it was snowing (simply because you had to clean the ice repeatedly, thus slowing the game down).

Bravo to all involved with that.

Isles/Rangers next? :D

That would be amazing, and I have no comment about Sid....We are all Mac friends here :) I was reading somewhere though that the Pens are not interested in that...I can't imagine why?? As just a avid hockey fan (and a college hockey player), it just didn't get any better than the game today. The atmosphere and all that.

About the Pens sluggish 2nd: It wasn't nearly as bad as the stats claimed....We had some fantastic chances, but either hit the post or just missed the net. Look at the 3rd, Buffalo only had a few shots on goal, but in no way did the Pens dominate it....not even close. The stats aren't all, folks.

Edit:
Rhosfelt, I love Fleury too, but lets face it...his game is suffering this year and Ty is shining so far. I hope Fleury makes a very strong comeback!

Happy New Year to All!

I'd love to see that...but i'd want the Rangers to win ;)

The game today was so fun to watch, i ate up every minute of it. So classic that Crosby wins the game in the last round of the shootout...you couldn't have scripted a better outcome for the casual hockey fan.
