I'd like to see UNIT versus Torchwood in an episode. Torchwood gets all of their recovered alien tech, but UNIT gets the Doctor. ;) :D

Yeah good idea, I thought of that one aswell. Torchwood could be going too far then at the end UNIT steps in and stops them (cameo of General Lethbridge Stewart would be cool).

just a commentary post here. but this thread is hot :) I keep hearing the distant bleep of a new email and if it isn't some firm trying to sell my drugs it's you guys.

Cheers for the UNIT heads up too :) i feel that little bit smarter now.

I've got a feeling they will do mine and Shards suggestion anyway one Saturday evening...

Oh P.S. I'm making a Dr Who website, if anyone wants to do a review of an episode (doesn't have to be too long) please send me it. Funny place to be making this request...

You can't know too much if you think that's going to happen!!

Excuse me? I know the Brigadier retired in 1976 and came back later in Battlefield (90s onwards) then presumably retired again. He could come back yet again smarty pants.

Shows how much you know about Doctor Who.

It was a good suggestion Shard, don't know what Skyblue is on about.

And Christ! Can't the BBC recruit an actress who wasn't someone else who just died in Doctor Who. At least she is the first companion with some african blood.

Haha - no need to turn this thread nasty guys, play nice, we're all fans here - it's what the Doctor would want. ;) :D

Like I said, I only made it half-seriously, but it would be cool to see - thanks. :)

Yeah, I find that kind of weird as well. Isn't there going to be some issue with her looking exactly like the character who got killed? Is everyone just going to be blissfully ignorant of this fact? That's kind of stretching it a bit IMO...

Colin baker played someone else before becoming the 6th Doctor!

Ah yes, quite right! Part of the "Royal Security Guard" for the Timelords, or something similar, wasn't it? And during the Tom Baker years IIRC...

As for Sky Blue he should mind his manners especially to someone knows what they're talking about.

Hey, just trying to preserve the peace. ;) I'd hate to see this thread go downhill when we've had so many pages of such great discussion. :)

And don't put yourself down Shard that was a good suggestion and sounds right up RTD's street.

Well, thanks again, but realistically I'm not sure if it would happen. We only have seen UNIT once in the new series, so I think something like this would be more meaningful for the fans of the classic series such as ourselves, and might lose some new viewers who don't understand and/or appreicate the history of the Doctor and UNIT. It would be like reintroducing the Key to Time without proper explanation. ;) Mind you, they essentialy did a similar thing by bringing back Saah Jane and K-9! :D

It's happened before. Princess something-or-other came back as a regenerated Romana.

Am I aging myself by knowing that?

So, what kind of drugs have you got then, any good stuff? ;)

Not at all, that's another great example! I remember that specific epsiode, in fact, with Romana "trying on" different bodies... ;) Although that one is a bit different because Romana deliberately chose to take on the form of that princess, knowing she would look exactly like her. It's not like she just "coincidentally" looked like that previous character... ;)

Nonetheless, if she's a great actress and becomes a great companion, it doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things.

Yes but that's because Time Lords can choose their appearance when regenerating (apart from the Doctor for unknown reasons - see The Movie for one theory. I think its cos he never learnt the abiltity on Gallifreyan, I mean he was a bit of a rebel and was a poor, poor student at the academy). Romana went through several 'looks' before deciding she liked the look of the Princess.

Yeah and on the Macrumors forums! Weird...

You'd be surprised how many diverse members with varying interests we have here. :) I'm subscribed to all sorts of threads myself - Doctor Who, BSG, Family Guy, other TV shows, and then also other interests, like investing threads (I'm big into the markets), music threads (I'm a classical musician), traveling threads (I'm a globetrotter) and others. And then of course there are the actual Mac-related threads! ;) :D

... Doctor Who, BSG ...

Speaking of BSG, I'm beginning to believe that the Brits are going to be the saviors of Sci-Fi.

I was listening to a podcast on Serenity and they mentioned that the U.K. was the only market where the movie premiered at #1 in both theaters and on DVD. Combined with Doctor Who, BSG, and the upcoming Torchwood it's starting to look like anything good/new in Sci-Fi is coming form or at least partially funded by the Brits. There are a few series left on the Sci-Fi channel but they are coming to a close in the near future and it seems that all of the viable replacements are going to be coming from the U.K. in some way or another. Hopefully that means the Sci-Fi channel will start airing the second Doctor Who season soon, rather than hang out contently a year behind.

Theory about Doomsday:

The Daleks in the Void Ship were hiding in the void after the time war. The Genesis Ark is clearly a device for resurrecting, or recreating the Dalek race. I predict it is designed to convert the DNA of a species (humans in this case), perhaps with a good dose of raditation for starters, into Dalek creatures but the Doctor sets it to alter and kill the Cybermen instead. How the daleks are destroyed I can not guess, piece of Torchwood tech I suppose.

Shame to see the (a) Supreme Dalek killed again (the black one), hope it escapes :p

Oh and how good was Army Of Ghosts! Best new series episode yet. Russell T Davies's vision of Doctor Who is finally fully paying off.

Spoiler to follow:-

I think it is more likely that the Genesis Ark contains Davros

Saviours -cough- of Sci-Fi thank you :p Only kidding

I actually had it spelled that way to begin with but the spell check on my PB underlined it and suggested the American spelling only. Which made me question my proper spelling since it doesn't have a problem with adaptor, adapter, theater, theatre... etc. Blame my American computer.... At least it's not Windows (although it would give me a better excuse).
