I hope you and Metal Zombie are right. But you won't be. I am sure a lot of people don't want to see Davros return. But he will.

We are. He won't. :)

This just in......

New companion is revealed.

freema11ts.jpg

Newcomer Freema Agyeman will play the Doctor's latest companion, Martha Jones.

Doctor Who fans have already met Agyeman as Adeola in episode 12 of the current series of Doctor Who but, as viewers will have seen last Saturday evening, this character suffered a terrible fate at the hands of the Cybermen.

Freema will be playing a brand new character in series three.

Executive producer/writer Russell T Davies says: "The search for a new companion had been underway for some time when I first saw Freema Agyeman, she had come in to audition for the part of Adeola in series two.

"Watching her during filming confirmed what an exciting new talent she was, so under cover of darkness we called her back in to audition with David for the role of the new companion.

"It was an immediate and sensational combination, and her range, presence and charm blew us all away.

"David and Freema are terrific together, and we're delighted to have chosen her to join the Doctor for more adventures in time and space.

"The first scripts have been written, and Martha's a brilliant addition to the TARDIS crew, the perfect foil for the Doctor.

"Martha won't be featured in this year's Christmas special; we've got another surprise in store for that."

Freema Agyeman says: "I've been keeping this secret from my friends for months - it's been driving me mad!

"Auditioning with David in secret down in Cardiff was unbelievable, but I never in my wildest dreams thought I'd actually become the new companion.

"Billie rightfully built up an amazing fan base and she will be missed, but I hope the fans are willing to go on new adventures with me.

"It still hasn't quite sunk in, I'm sure it will slam home first day on set when I'm stood gazing at David Tennant!"

David Tennant adds: "Freema was a joy to work with in episode 12 of the current series. She is not only very talented and very beautiful, she's great fun and I'm delighted she's coming on board the TARDIS full time.

"I can't wait to welcome her into the Who family."

Freema Agyeman is 27 years old and was born and brought up in London.

A new 13-part adventure and Christmas special begins filming in Cardiff in the summer for transmission on BBC ONE.

I'm already mulling over what this could turn out to be:

"Martha won't be featured in this year's Christmas special; we've got another surprise in store for that."

Another old assistant? An old foe?

Also I think insides the genesis ark will be Phil Colins. The ultimate weapon of mass destruction (no tarranium required. Lets see if you Whovians know what tarranium is lol).
Wasn't that the stuff the Daleks were after to power a weapony-type thing? I think it's found on Uranus, but I might be wrong...

Daleks mining Uranus? That'll give the kids nightmares :D

Good. I like RTD's way of challenging the norm. A possibly bisexual manc Doctor (Doctor Dances/Jack situation)? now a black side kick? excellent! keeps the series fresh I say.

Caught todays little trailer just after Bargain Hunt went off :) "If I die..."

Just seen today's trailer.. "Genesis Ark?"

gah! such a tease!

ohhhh, post 666, evvilllllllllllll.

Actually, no, not "just in", try "missed it by about 45 posts and 3 pages of this thread"... :p ;)

You have to be quicker than that to keep us with us hardcore Whovians!!! :D

Blimey! How'd I miss that?!? Then again, judging by the nigh on zero comments on it, it looks like a fair few folks missed it as well....

Ah well. Least I got a picture on the board:D

I know Rose is allegedly supposed to die, and some have (rightly IMHO) thought that she goes to the alternative Earth with Mickey/Ricky, her mum & dad, but the quote on the Doctor Who Beeb page this morning had me thinking otherwise: "She's not Rose Tyler anymore"... she gets cyberfied?

The 'She's not Rose Tyler – not anymore' comment caused a few people to think Miss Chav might end up wearing a 7-foot steel shellsuit in the finale – but Jackie actually used the phrase in the last episode when she was saying Rose is changing. I think Rose won't die literally – like you I think it's a metaphor thing and she'll end up going off with Jackie, her Dad and possibly Mickey to start a new life together.

In the pre-credit bit Rose said something about her life not really starting until she met the Doctor – I suppose if she looks at it with this point of view then the day they part will be the 'death' of her new life.

Haha - no worries, just having some fun with ya. ;) :D

Yeah, I question whether Rose will physically die as well. I think you might be on the money Jaffa when you pointed out that during her initial monologue, she stated that her life started with the Doctor. It would then make sense that her life would end or she would "die" when she is separated from the Doctor.

But then again, maybe she'll be repeatedly zapped by the black Dalek. :D

And you're right Sky Blue, what a hideous shirt! The Timelords should reconvene for another "Trial of a Timelord" session and the Valeyard can hold Tennant responsible for crimes against fashion...

Hopefully the Supreme Dalek will shoot her multiple times and then run over her a few times for good measure. Then he finds Jackie Chav and rips her face off with his sucker and gives it to Pete Tyler... Oh I've gone too far...

I'm sensing – and tell me if I'm wrong here – a little bit of hostility towards the Tyler family, is it fair to say? :p ;)

Actually, it might be interesting if Jackie comes face to face with her Cyberman counterpart...

Then the Cybermen could play a game of Cyberball with her skull and...

Now it's definitely gone too far... :D

One other thing I thought of - what if Rose does her dues ex machina trick from last season's finale, except this time she is essentially completely absorbed by the Time Vortex? I sincerely hope this doesn't happen, as it would be too convenient, unoriginal and, well, dues ex machina, but it's a thought... ;)

Oooh, that would indeed be cool! Perhaps that's the encounter we briefly glimpse in the tralier - she doesn't run into just any Cyberman, but it's her!

Then again, what are the odds, and secondly, wouldn't the CyberJackie have been killed in Age of Steel like all the others?

Still, intriguing thought... :)

Nah, she's well 'ard our Jackie. She wouldn't let the small matter of Cyberconversion bother her. After all, those helmet handles are great for hanging Chav earrings off. :D

Just look out for a Cyberman in denim jacket and Burberry checked handles. That'll be Jackiebot :)
