The new series comes out on DVD in May w/ a boxed set (in the shape of a TARDIS no less!) in "the summer."

No link handy but details available on the official BBC/Doctor Who website.

Cool, thanks, I'll keep my eyes open for this...

Just got around to watching the Dalek episode. I have to say, I quite enjoyed it. Again, I'd prefer the episodes to be longer, at least 2 parts, but for this story it wasn't so bad, as there was only so much they could do with the story due to the circumstances.

At first I didn't know if I liked the whole "human/emotion" aspect to the Dalek, when it started reconsidering itself, its purpose, etc., but after watching the episode, I did indeed like it. I think it added a different element to things, and ended up making this "not just another Dalek episode", with the Doctor blowing them up or what have you to save the day.

My initial concern was that this would turn into something similar like what Star Trek TNG did with the Borg when Lore took them over - they just seemed to lose their edge and their threatening superior aura. But I don't think that was the case here at all.

Although that may have technically been the last of the Daleks, let's hope the Doctor travels back/forwards in time to encounter them again at a later date!

Oh, and I'd like to find out more about this whole "Time Wars" thing, and how the Daleks and the Time Lords ended up wiping each other out. Would the Daleks really be any match for the Time Lords? Couldn't the Doctor just go back in time and stop it from ever happening, or warn his own people? Ah, the paradoxical beauty of time travel.

Bring back the Cybermen, have to admit they scared me more than the Daleks, as for the time war, hmmm, not many people know the full story, it's a bit sketchy, just Google it and you will find nothing much, I just think it will be something told in the future, one other thing to look out for in the forthcoming episodes are references to the "Bad Wolf", I may be mistaken but it has been mentioned a few times in the previous episodes, not sure about all of them though but I distinctly remember references to this phrase.

Yeah, the Cybermen were cool too, wouldn't mind seeing them again as well!

I also would like to see more non-Earth-related stories - every episode so far has been on Earth or related to Earth! I realize the 3rd Doctor spent a lot of time on Earth as one example, but it seemed like the 4th Doctor spent a lot more time away from our little planet here. ;)

Yes indeed, the daleks will be back! have heard for the last 3 episodes :)

Excellent, good to know!

I wonder if the Master will somehow make an appearance as well. He was pretty much taken care of in that Land of the Cheetah people episode, was he not? Regardless, I'm sure he'd find a way back... ;)

Excellent :) Although I'm worried that our provincial election might interrupt Tuesday's episode :(

I agree with Shard, I would like to see some more non-earth based episodes...

Oh yeah, your election is coming up - good luck with that! Who knows, maybe we'll ALL be going back to the polls sooner than we think depending what happens with the pending vote of non-confidence...

And yes, as I said before, I've enjoyed every episode so far, but can we get away from Earth and explore some distant fantastic places instead? So much potential and possibilities out there...

Ok, where do you download Bit torrent stuff anyway?

Check out Mac P2P for more general information. I don't think it is appropriate to provide any more information directly here though, as it goes against MacRumors' policies on promoting illegal file sharing. Just Google if you need any more info, that always does the trick.

Bad Wolf?

So what's with all the "Bad Wolf" references in Doctor Who so far?

- In 'The End of the World' the Moxx of Balhoon talks to the Face of Boe about a 'bad wolf senario'.
- In 'The Unquiet Dead' Gwyneth reads Rose's mind and says 'The things you [Rose] have seen....the darkness...the big Bad Wolf' and she recoils away from Rose in fear.
- In 'Aliens in London' a young boy draws 'Bad Wolf' on the side of the TARDIS.
- In 'WWIII' the graffiti is washed of the side of the TARDIS.
- In 'Dalek' the helicopter carrying van Staten has the call sign 'Bad Wolf One'
- In 'The Long Game' there is a TV station showing a pregnant Face of Boe called 'Bad Wolf TV'
- In 'Father's Day' there is a poster on the wall with the faint words of 'Bad Wolf' written over in some sort of pen.

Some people also say in 'Rose' that the Nestene Conciousness mouths the words 'bad wolf' when the TARDIS is revealed, and that in the AOL/WW3 two-parter online picture show the American reporter to be called Mal Loup (the French words for 'bad' and 'wolf' respectively).

And ultimately, Episode 12 is called "Bad Wolf".

Any thoughts or theories?

Just watched the "Empty Child" episode, it' very good, Dr Who just seems to get better and better and I admit that this episode has a certain creepiness to it, what a shame Christopher Eccleston is leaving he made a very fine Dr Who, can't recall any reference to Bad Wolf though.

Is that where that compilation of facts was from? I couldn't remember the website I cut + pasted it from (I found a few with the exact same summary). I was about to type up all the instances I had remembered, but then thought it must be out there already somewhere, so I Googled it and saved myself some time. ;)

So, any theories then? Or do you just feel like operating as a human bibliography? :p

Cool, looking forward to watching it! I'm sure there will be some sort of Bad Wolf reference hidden somewhere in it...

"Who's afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?"

That suggests to me that it's someone or something the Doctor fears, possibly tied into the Timelord/Dalek Time War... and he certainly fears the Daleks, as we saw in the episode of the same name. As Shard mentions episode 12 is titled Bad Wolf – and the Daleks are said to be appearing in episodes 12 and 13. Which could indicate it's the Daleks and/or Davros.

But... the reference in The Unquiet Dead (which takes place before Dalek) suggests Rose has already encountered the Bad Wolf... which would rule out the Daleks and would suggest either the Doctor or the Tardis (and the latter has had 'Bad Wolf' scrawled on its side). Which could indicate it's the Tardis.

Didn't Nancy say to the Doctor, "What big ears you have?" Which could indicate it's the Doctor.

My head hurts.

As to a reference to the Bad Wolf theme in The Empty Child episode, Captain Jack says the Doctor looks like a U Boat commander, U Boats travelled in Wolf Packs.

Good points - I like the "Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf."

I had thought about the TARDIS being the Bad Wolf as well, but what does that really mean then? And why? Or is is because it is a distressing/troublesome image people relate to, due to something that happened?

Very intriguing...

I thought she mentioned his ears too – I might be wrong though. Still, she was carrying a basket of food and I think she was wearing red as well... ;)

Along these lines, Rose is technically a color of red...

Yah, I read this as well. Not too surprising though, the Doctor's companions never hung around him for too long, maybe the longest were 2-3 years tops(?).

Although it sucks that CE is leaving (i quite enjoyed him as the Doctor), especially due to the circumstances and his "reasoning", I think the writers could take the opportunity to at least create an exciting regeneration scenario at the beginning of Season 2 (28)...

Wow, that may be pushing it, yet very observant of you! Perhaps we're all caught up so much in this "Bad Wolf" riddle that we're seeing things that aren't really there... and maybe that's exactly what the writers want... ;)

And I've just googled up a meaning for the surname Tyler... it's an occupational name for roofers, but its origins can be traced back to the Old English 'tigele,' meaning "to cover" – like a hood, maybe? :D

The Tardis is indeed linked to a terrible event. We know that the Doctor (and therefore the Tardis) was heavily involved in the Time War, the effects of which were felt across the universe. Of course, the Doctor himself can change his appearance and so avoid being recognised (and there are hints that he has regenerated since the War) but the Tardis can't. So maybe Bad Wolf is the Tardis?

My head is hurting even more now.

I don't care what anyone says, Billy Piper is one of the most attractive women on british tv...!

I think the BBC could turn Doctor Who into a rather interesting show where loads of different people play the doctor...? It would be a departure from tradition, but then again isn't this entire series all about that?
