<subconsciously taps MacBook's palm rest rhythmically>

Hmm what network is your phone on.. Thank god I am doing without a phone waiting for the iPhone! Otherwise I would of voted saxon! But who saw the bit where the master says he sent "Jacks little gang" (Torchwood) off to the Himalayas? I hope they make a 2nd season of Torchwood! It was so good :p

Ah some good points!
as I've said before - I haven't seen much of old Who's, but even I could see there was some kind of grand closure going on when they brought up the "brother" issue. :D

Poor Tardis indeed. Still no answer for the Masters Tardis? Has a Paradox machine (or whatever it was) ever been brought up before in Who?

And who was that woman with the Master? Just a regular companion like Rose or Martha? Then again her back story checks out according to that woman...

I think the number of Toclafane was important. 6 billion of them? My first thoughts were an alternate universe or something where Cybermen took over Earth after all.

Anyone here played Mario Football on the Wii? The menu music has a very reminiscent drum beat :D and one of the matches has a very Spooks-esque cello sequence. But that's another story.

Yep, we've got that and I know the music you mean. :p

In answer to your points... I don't think a paradox machine has cropped up in Who before, but I might be wrong. As for Lucy Saxon, she certainly appears to be a willing accomplice to the Master's evil scheme. I suspect she's either such a nasty piece of work that she's willingly thrown her lot in with him, or (perhaps more likely) she's the victim of the Master's hypnosis.

Response to the white text
Yeah but why would he go for that ugly woman?! If he is truly hypnotic go for Hailey Berry or Sarah Michelle Geller"

See what happens when I don't watch Who at my best? I forget to talk about stuff :D
I thought the perception filter was excellent. Through the combination of the sound and direction and all that, I really felt like I couldn't see the Doctor myself! Only the first time he put the necklace on mind.

I'm watching the big trailer they gave us half way through this series, and they don't seem to have any footage from the last episode. They're playing this very carefully it seems. Going to be a big ending?

Also.. have we seen Stephen Fry's episode yet? A couple of years ago I read he had a script but that it would have cost too much to produce. Anyone know the status of that?
I didn't think Mrs. Saxon was bad either. :)

Sadly, the Stephen Fry episode has been cancelled, I believe. It got pushed back to the third season from the second, and then was cancelled altogether... Quite sad really. I bet that would have been a pretty bizarre episode!

Ok you may think shes pretty but you have to agree with me.. her dancing sucked balls.

I thought Mrs S was pretty foxy myself
as for her dancing skills maybe they've been affected by being under the thrall of the Master
.
.
"thrall" love that word

Ah! It's much better watching Doctor Who when you're not having panic attacks :D

Anyroad! Still white, just in case like -Just tabbed out that unearthly beautiful song that starts playing when they just put on them perception filters (at 29:11 according to EyeTV). If anyone wants the overall melody its - E, B, G, B, C, A. I really love this song and hope they release a soundtrack album (come ON. The whole New Who series thrives on its excellent soundtrack!).

I also like the way Martha really comes into her own. As an actress she's brilliant and the character has come of age. Really wonderful stuff.

I'm not sure if I like this episode, yet, the finale will make it or break it.

Right now I'm a bit worried about a re-hash of the season one ending. Doctor's assistant on her own, fate of the earth (or the universe) in her hands. Doctor and Jack incapacitated/preoccupied with one of the Doctor's old enemies. There's a lot of similar circumstances hanging right now and the finale could make or break this storyline.

Did anybody else notice that Martha's TV had a "Magpie Electricals" logo on the back.

As last seen in The Idiot Lantern
the art department are working overtime

Awesome find!

some more- Myself? I actually am addicted to the ending sequence. I'm exporting it now. This song is just so great, I probably sound mad. But I really do love it - along with the expressions and glances of the characters in the final shots it's all so powerful.

And yep. Right at the end the Master does actually say "Down you go, kids!". Gotta be something in that, or just a very cunning red herring!

edit: heres the ending again http://satansam.co.uk/vids/ending.mov < obviously it's a huge spoiler so keep away for now, Shard :p

Hi everyone, sorry I've been away for a while. It's been great catching up and reading everyone's posts though. :)

Let me just say that I thoroughly enjoyed the last episode, but do have my reservations, similar to what many others here have mentioned. I am concerned with who those orbs actually are, the fate of the TARDIS and if we're simply going to get a rehash of the Season 1 finale...

Also, no, to my knowledge there has never been a paradox machine in Doctor Who before. So what does that mean? How did the Doctor recognize what it was instantly and what does it do? Was that a time rift it opened up to let the orbs in? And yes, why 6 billion exactly?

Lastly, what about Utopia? Do we not get any closure on the fate of the human race on the rocket? Could that possibly still have apart to play in things? ;)

Yes i have the feeling that we haven't seen the last of the utopia ship,
unless it was a huge macguffin

if we're simply going to get a rehash of the Season 1 finale...

Sound of Drums seemed to be a rehash of AoL/WWIII and the cyber clunkers. I'm sure the impending doom will continue for another 30 mins then it'll all be wrapped up in a neat package with some psuedo science.

It look like the final part takes place some time after Sound of Drums.

The whole New Who series thrives on its excellent soundtrack!.

There is a soundtrack CD from the first two series available. Would be nice if they released an updated version but I guess we might have to wait until there's enough new music to justify one.

And yes, why 6 billion exactly?

"An Orb for every man, woman, and child on Earth. That sounds exactly like the thinking of a machine to me. "

Sorry... wrong science fiction world ;) :D

That was absolutely brilliant - an instant classic.

A bit late with my reply, but yes, I couldn't agree more. Blink has to be my favorite episode so far. The whole "out of time" conversation, the "quantum-locked" killers, the fact that The Doctor wasn't there to help directly and the music.

Oh my, the music. Just haunting, IMHO. Where can we get it? :D

Lots of twists and turns in the last one, I'm guessing - it's slightly longer than usual and, unusually, Russell has said there's no way it can be cut. Going to run for almost 52 mins apparently. We'll see what Saturday brings.

Here come the drums!

Chris

Where can we get it? :D

Possibly from me :D I'm working on a note for note replica at the moment. It's accurate so far but it's guess work unless you want a 30 second song :D

I managed to re-watch Doomsday on the bus, Rose says to the Doctor "I made my choice a long time ago", which are more or less the exact same words uttered by Mrs. Saxon to the journalist.

And for roffles :D

Now you mention it, there are a few similarities between Brown and Saxon – after all, Brown's become Prime Minister but no one remembers actually voting for him...

Plus of course the Master's homeworld has been reduced to a bleak, desolate waste devoid of life – Gordon Brown meanwhile is from Scotland. ;)

Is it true the last episode is 55 minutes long? I don't have access to my EyeTV at the moment so I can't check
