Is it true the last episode is 55 minutes long? I don't have access to my EyeTV at the moment so I can't check

This is the first I've heard of it, but that would be fine by me!

Makes sense though - is 45 minutes really enough time for the Doctor to stop the Master, stop 6 billion death orbs, save the Earth, reverse his aging process and repair the cannibalized TARDIS? ;) :D

I was watching the first episode of this season... Guess what I found xD Martha asks the Doctor "Have you got a brother?" and The Doctor says "No not anymore".. Maybe The Master is The Doctor's brother?!

Then later she suggests that The Master is his brother.
It was originally intended for it to be that way a long time ago; these comments just seem to be hints to that fact.

Yes, I remember that scene, but in the previous episode she outright asks him if the Master is his long-lost brother and he effectively says no. Plus, this has been an inside joke among Whovians for decades. It was always suggested that the initial plan was for the Master and the Doctor to indeed be brothers, but they never actually made this the case in the show, thus it never became part of Whovian dogma. Some even said they were planning on writing in this twist in "The Final Game" when they brought the Doctor/Master story arc to a close, however as we know that story was unfortunately never able to be made. :(

hmmm...
I wasn't too keen on that.

Firstly... how did chanting the Doctors name make him young again? And the whole Golem Doctor thing just didn't work for me.

Anyone else think that road scene bit was tribute to Billie Piper's old song? :D complete with flying aliens!

Don't understand why the Toclafane would kill humans. "Because we like it" doesn't really cut it.

No more Martha? WTF! That was a huge let down too. hugehugehuge.

'sall for now.

WOW!!!

But it seems to me that they are filling in all the blanks because this will be the last full series. I know they advertised the xmas special, but it really does feel like the end.:D

Oh my Jesus H Christ, How great was that episode! So bloody fantastic! And the twist at the end! It tied everything up.. And Titanic? what was that about? Will The Doctor meet Jack and Rose?

Rose maybe :D yep nice ending all round tied all things up

Capt Jack a? who would have figured

Brilliant! LOVED that episode! The CGI has got heck of a lot better though, I guess they were just putting more of their funds into that episode...

I'm fairly happy with the final episode! I think Simm did a great job as The Master, and there were a couple of things I didn't see comingInitially I was the same as jimmi - I didn't get how he became young again, but then I actually thought about the sequence in more detail and I guess its to do with the precise way the Doctor integrated himself into the psychic network. But does thins mean he gets his regenerations back? Or even more?
I knew Martha was being written out, but it seems the decision was made ages ago. Bit of a shame, but I never warmed to her as much as Rose.
Nice to see The Master isn't down and out... even though it was very Ming the Merciless :D and I presume that was his wife picking up the ring?
And no explaination how the Doctor managed to repair the Tardis either. I thought it was properly borked?
Finally - I feel a bit sad for Captain Jack knowing he is the Face of Boe... not much of an existance for him in the future....
Soooo.... the search for a new companion begins....

New companion? Rose from Titanic? :D

ACTUALLY! I wonder if this is where that photo of the Doctor by the Titanic comes from, way back in Episode 1 of the new series.

Piarco..... White text Or was it his wife, could he of used the lazer screwdriver to change himself into his wife, and his wife into him?Or put part of him into her? Maybe thats why he didnt regenerate, because he/she couldnt. The doctor himself always said that The master was hypnotic.?? I personally dont think thats the end of the master.

Anyway I loved it....:D Now to make my day,, anyone care to lend me their iPhone??

LOL. Something just occurred to me :)

When the super-old Doctor joined the psychic field and became young again, what happened to the cage?

:D

Oh I severely doubt the Master is dead too. I can imagine Mrs. Saxon returning somehow too. The Daleks keep dying and returning, I don't see why he won't either. When you're playing with time travel no enemy is truly ever dead ;) I hope we see The Rani or Romana come back too. The Time Lords can't be completely gone. Another Chameleon Arc anyone :D

Did anyone else notice that Mrs Saxon was sporting a bit of a black eye at the beginning of the episode?

Surely deliberate, or someone in continuity would've got a rocket!

I'm fairly pleased with the episode as a whole, but there's still RTD's own version of Steve Jobs' RDF to get past - little things that just 'resolve themselves' and we're just supposed to take it at face value.

And wow..
Future humans killing past humans.. I hope Martha works for Torchwood while she's taking a break from the doctor! @cortexrock Yeah she was but I don't think it was to do with the episode you could see they had tried to cover it up. But that red dress did make her look a bit more prettier!

I spotted that, especially the way the Master flirts with other girls. Has no respect for Mrs. Saxon so it's probably likey a domestic.
Or a very rowdy actress :D

I'm sure the impending doom will continue for another 30 mins then it'll all be wrapped up in a neat package with some psuedo science.
.

urgh, that was pretty terrible episode. The song at the start, Martha as apostle, floaty doctor, house elf doctor. Gold's score way too high as usual. Why write out Martha so soon? :(

I don't understand why Davis turned the master into the joker.

Thanks for the white text guys, I'll continue for Jaffa's benefit. ;) :)

If it weren't for all the twists and turns, I'm not sure if I would have enjoyed this episode as much. In the end though, I did think it was pretty good, but could have been better. A few things...

Martha saving the world. Rose wiping out the Daleks was a bit much for me at the time, and this was more of the same for me. It's nice to see companions who aren't helpless and useless, however they don't need to be "super companions". ;) I just don't see Nyssa or Liz Shaw doing this type of thing if they would have ever been put in this position... and I never thought Rose or Martha were anything special when compared to other companions, deserving of such a standout role so to speak... :p

Utopia - I called this, in that I knew we hadn't heard the last of it. :D But why would the future humans come back to kill themselves? Had they degenerated so much that it just didn't matter to them anymore?

The Master dying. I liked John Simm's portrayal in general, although a little too much of a "joker" in some cases - a little too over the top. Yes, we can't expect him to be like Delgado, since just as the Doctor changes each regeneration, so does the Master, but I didn't have as much respect, if that's the right word, for this Master as compared to Delgado and *gasp* even Ainley at times. That being said, I think Simm ranks second only to Delgado for his portrayal - a good job overall. But with him dying - that was his wife picking up the ring at the end, so what does this mean? To me, it means the Master somehow switched places with his wife and shot her to fake his death - but would he actually have been that clever and be able to put his arrogance aside in order to plan for this? Unlikely, but you never know... However, if he did transfer into his wife's body somehow, then with Archangel now disabled would the Doctor not feel his presence still with nothing to mask it?

I didn't care for the Gollum Doctor either, but what can you do. And even though he was tied into the network, yadda yadda, I still don't understand how that automatically makes him younger again. Ah well... ;)

How did he repair the TARDIS? It was looking pretty hurting...

And Captain Jack is the Face of Boe?!? Wow, didn't see that one coming... If that's the case though, then Cassandra was not in fact the last pure human. Hmm, but I thought that Boe came from the planet of Silver Desolation or something that that effect and wasn't human... Well, it could always be a coincidence... ;)

Martha leaving was a surprise and I hadn't heard that this would be the case. Interesting...

Lastly, the TARDIS is indestructible, so how could the Titantic penetrate it's walls like that?!

Anyway, all the above points aside, I'm not trying to be too hard on my beloved show, and I did enjoy this last episode, but I can;t just blindly saw, "That was awesome!" when all of the above points are quite valid in my opinion.

Well, I saw the episode a little earlier this afternoon (parents over last night and everything, and...

It was so-so. Not as bad as I feared it could have been, but I wasn't left astounded.

I've no doubt the Master will return – I read that final scene as being that his essence was somehow captured in the ring, just as he and the Doctor had transferred themselves into the fob watches earlier in the series. I assume it was his wife picking up the ring, although she seemed to have broken loose from his hypnotic thrall.

ACTUALLY! I wonder if this is where that photo of the Doctor by the Titanic comes from, way back in Episode 1 of the new series.
It can't be – that pic was of the Ninth Doctor. He's been on the Titantic before though – he mentioned in a previous episode that he'd been on the ship and ended up clinging to an iceberg.

LOL. Something just occurred to me :)

If I remember rightly, the cage just disolved around him. Because he was all psychic and stuff, see. :p
