Every time I look at this picture I get the impression that Tennant can't belive his luck!!

To be fair, Kylie is looking rather pleased with herself too. :D
The first thing I noticed is that she's obviously stood on the stairs and yet he still towers above her, even with slouching. Should make for some right comedy moments come Christmas :D

A quick Google reveals Tennant is 6’1”, while Miss Minogue comes in at a shade under 5’1” apparently. So unless they’re planning on shrinking him again like they did in Last Of The Timelords, there’s going to be a slight discrepancy there. :D

Regarding the decision to cast Catherine Tate in series 4, I'm not a huge fan of her comedy show either, however, she has shown that she can put in pretty good dramatic performances, in particular alongside Ewan McGregor in 'Scenes of a Sexual Nature', a small indie-film out last year.

As far as her character in Doctor Who goes, the most interesting aspect of 'Donna' compared to Rose and Martha is that she seems less of the doe-eyed, "isn't the doctor great", do-as-your told kind of assistant, and more bolshy, tempestuous, and challenging for the Doctor to get to grips with. Having someone who is willing to stand up to the doctor, instead of the 'yes sir, three bags-full' attitude of the previous 2 assistants could make for a refreshing change.

That wasn't the first thing i noticed:D

That would be Kylie's ...

I just skipped through 60 pages of this thread :)

Personally, IMHO, the new 'Master' was modeled on steve jobs :)

And so I looked down, as master of all, and thought it good.

Or possibly Bill gates in the '97 Mac World?

When I think back to Catherine Tates character all I can remember is that "YA WHOT?" kind of screeching voice. Janice Battersby's twin.

I certainly don't think Catherine tate is the right choice for the role, they say she was well received in the christmas special, well of course she was that is because we knew it was only episode, this is a big mistake, and i don't understand why Freema isn't being kept on permanently as i think she is very good, a lot better than Billie piper

Heh Catherine Tate will be interesting.. But how very dare Martha Jones leave us so soon to go and join bloody "Torchwood" Which I love because Jack is in it xD

From the episode's fact file on the BBC Doctor Who website...

Doherty complains about her useless computer system, saying that she misses Microsoft head Bill Gates. Bill's probably working for the Master to make his laser screwdriver Vista compatible, whilst Apple boss Steve Jobs continues to develop the iToc...

So there you go! :p

I must say that john simm as the master was absolutely fantastic, he was what made it, he was absolutely insane, and it was quite sad when he 'died', i've never watched doctor who before the 'new' series so for me john simm was the best master, partly because he is the only master i've seen, but the others i saw in action after seemed crap

They should go and dub some awful pop music over Delgado's performance and make him jig around like clown, maybe then you'd like it.

On the subject of villains, The Sun reports today that legendary actor Dennis Hopper is set to star in the next series, playing an as of yet undisclosed baddie. They've got a picture mocked up (albeit rather poorly :p ) showing him as arch-Time Lord botherer Davros, although there's no evidence to suggest that this will be the part he'll play if the rumour is true. The article also says that next year's series will be the last, but the Doctor will return in a series of regular specials which will be dotted across the year.

Do bear in mind though that The Sun's record on Who rumours is a little patchy – for each one they're on the money with there are several they're wrong on. So feel free to choose the size of the pinch of salt you take these rumours with. ;)

You know sarcasm is the lowest form of wit, and get with the times, people aren't into those kind of villains anymore. wouldn't surprise me if you are watching re-runs of William Hartnell as the Doctor. besides that scene with the song 'i can't decide' where the master was jumping around and singing to depicts a kind of madness, and i think it was a very effective scene, plus the lyrics he sang to the doctor were taunting him.

Catherine Tate is a classically trained actress, that just happens to do comedy. In choosing her, they are saying that they want a more mature and experienced actress in the role of the Doctor's Assistant.
I hope she does well but I would have liked to see the Martha Jones character grow and become more comfortable.:D

If that was the case they could have stuck Annette Crosbie or Felicity Kendal in there! An actress virtually everyone likes.

They've already had Victor, after all :D

Sorry to resurrect this thread for an off-topic post, but has anyone else seen The Second Coming? RTD as writer and stars Eccleston. Just finished watching it (almost 3 hours long!) and it's absolutely brilliant. Plus they have Eccleston running around Saddleworth Moor at one point :D

He's good is RTD.

I found that a bit pretentious myself, especially the ending when they are all talking in post-events documentary style. Much preferred Bob and Rose as an example of RTD's work..

As Wikipedia says "some people thought it was a cop-out", and yea I think the ending could have been a little better. Everything up until that point was near on perfect, I was gripped. I played it with the intention of killing a few minutes before bed, but ended up going bed at 5am after watching it :D

And the police scene was shot at my university, that good police guy collapsed outside our old toilets! And of course Saddleworth moors being just up the road from me. I like relating to areas in TV shows.
