Is it me or is DT slightly less pleased in this shot, than he was in back to back shots with Billie, Freema and Kylie:confused:

Well, Season 4 should be an "interesting" one if nothing else.... I'm curious to find out of Tennant is actually going to leave or not, or if it's just RTD who's leaving... I have some mixed feelings right now with good old Doctor Who... ;)

Arriving in the TARDIS at a mysterious moonbase, the Doctor and his new companion go exploring - but are separated by a sudden ceiling collapse in a tunnel. Donna notices a dark shape with a faint blue light emitting from it ahead of her in the tunnel.

Lauren/Donna: "Allllrriiiiiiight?"

Dalek: "Stay where you are, human companion of the Dokkk-torrr!"

Lauren/Donna: "You wot?"

Dalek: "Stay where you are, you will be exterminated!"

Lauren/Donna: "Whateva... do you look like a pepperpot though?"

Dalek: "Question is irrelevant! I am a Dalek"

Lauren/Donna: "But... you does look like a pepperpot though, don't you though?"

Dalek: "Silence! Daleks do not look like pepperpots! The Dokkk-torrr will not be victorious this time!"

Lauren/Donna: "Am I bovvered?"

Dalek: "Silence human... your vocalisations are scrambling my audio receptors!"

Lauren/Donna: "Are you calling me a pikey though? Are you calling the Doctor a pikey? Coz the TARDIS ain't a caravan though. Coz look at my face... Dalek... pepperpot... exterminate... I AIN'T BOVVERED!!"

Dalek: Fzzzzzttttt.... krrrtcchhhh.... KA-BOOOOOM!!!

Lauren/Donna: "Is it though... take the shame, you well exploded!"

:D

Well, the BBC has revealed a plot point or two, plus info on a couple of guest stars for next year's series. There are a few potential spoilers in there, so if that sort of thing isn't for you don't go clicking on that link. ;)

I know it's a regular want prior to each series, but hopefully next year we'll get to see more alien worlds and less stories set in the present day, in particular modern-day London which I'm a bit sick of seeing to be honest.

The BBC said:
...an episode where she [Donna] has to track down the Time Lord during an alien emergency in modern-day London.
Ah well.

It seems the Doctor will be taking a bit of a break from our screens following next year's series. There'll be no new series in 2009 apparently, although there will be a handful of specials aired during the year.

The BBC say the show will return for a 'proper' series in 2010 – but there's no word yet if it will be David Tennant in the title role.

I thought the point of the 3 specials in 2009 was to keep Tennant? I can imagine him staying on, else why would RTD cut back on the series?

Either way. I can also imagine them having quite a big series in 2008. After re-watching RTD's earlier series you can really see the vision, funding and pretty much everything get bigger and better in each series.

Hmm, interesting news. I wonder what the specials will consist of and why BBC is going this route. Ah well, as long the series is confirmed to return in 2010 it's all good. ;)

Could the season break be due to Tennant's engagement as Hamlet? Perhaps they want Tennant so badly as the Doctor that they're opting for the "specials" approach as opposed to a full series because of his schedule? Would they actually do that though? Hmm...

Regardless, in the meantime we have the Xmas special and another full seaosn to look forward to.

Thanks for the info Jaffa. Not sure what to make of this yet, but I guess we'll see! Let's just get through the Christmas Special first, shall we? ;) :D

It will also be interesting to see what the do with the Ood again, since they simply seem to be mindless slaves...

For those interested, the soundtrack for series 3 has been released. It's on iTunes too. It's all very good too! Even has a preview track from the upcoming Christmas episode.

If you recall my fawnings over a certain track played at the end of The Sound of Drums and the start of The Last of the Timelords, then it's right at the end of Martha's Quest :) I've taught myself the backing since it's much clearer.

Off Post

Just got Series 3, and the adventure continues...sorry to see that the Darleks are now dead......oh well, maybe there will be new enemies of the Doctor!

Given the their popularity and the oodles of cash the BBC makes from Dalek dressing gowns, shower curtains and other such stuff I think it's highly likely the Doctor will encounter some of the tentacled little buggers lurking somewhere sooner or later. ;)

Yeah, have to agree with that. The Daleks will never truly die - they're just too stubborn that way. ;)

Billie's back for the last 3 episodes of series 4

Hmmm, not sure what to think of this... As long as they go about it properly and it isn't too gimmicky or artificial it could be alright, but I honestly don't know - I thought how they ended Rose's story arc, and her relationship with the Doctor, was very fitting and brought closure to everything. This has the potential to spoil that... similar to how they ruined the Alien trilogy with Resurrection... :(

Plus, with 3 companions, not only could they run into the "too many characters to write for" problem which they experienced at times with Nyssa, Tegan and Adric but the banter has the potential to become quite cheesy - I can just imagine RTD giggling to himself as he writes dialogue involving the Doctor and his "previous 3 women", all bickering and interacting with each other in some "funny" situation a la Rose and Sarah Jane which ends up being, well, not funny.

Guess we'll see...

Hmm... it has the potential for some not very good telly. Like you ~Shard~, I liked the way they finished things with Rose. It was quite an emotional separation and her popping back for a few episodes seems a bit of a betrayal of the fine acting and writing we saw with her previous departure.

Maybe just a couple of flashbacks or something? That wouldn't be too bad, I suppose.

Nah...the Alien duology was already ruined by Alien3. [/off topic]

So, how about 2008 with no less than FOUR Doctor Who shows...Who, Torchwood, Sarah Jane Adventures (haven't seen any official confirmation, but with the first series breaking CBBC viewership records, seems like a no-brainer to me), and the K9 show. Overkill?

Hmm... it does seem like a bit of overkill. Mind, the last two shows on that list are very much kiddie programmes, and I'm sure they'll continue to lap it up for a while yet. As for the previous two, I'm not a Torchwood viewer either so it's just Who for me.
