You're joking right, he came in from the back with two legs and hit prilo's shin not the ball. Red card ANYDAY! I agree that it was just bad timing though and not an act of agression.

COME ON AZZURI!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AND THERE GOES POPE, are we watchin the WWE?

It is unfair that USA had to play with 10 men while Mcbride was receiving treatment considering that fifa's new rules prohibit playing with a bloody wound. What would have happened if Italy had scored as a result of Mcbride being off?

Erm, this what happens to most teams.

They play with 10 while the injured is being looked at.

ROTFL - u.s.a are down to 9.

They have a long way to go- and still are a second rate team.

That second red card was a total makeup call for the first one. That's a yellow any other day.
It warranted a yellow, certainly, but the red... it does seem a little harsh. Given that the referees have been briefed about punishing such challenges though, you could argue that Mastroeni should really have known better. The Italian sending off on the other hand was a cast iron red card – blatant and nasty.

As I say though, it's going to be an interesting second half.

EDIT: Yes, it's now even more interesting. Bloody hell...

The US are so lucky to have a player sent off, they have a chance of not being beat. yes you read that right, because no 11 men could possibly beat an Italian side down to 10!!!! The Italians defence, backs to the wall mentality and their counter attack for good measure have proven a nightmare time and again for the opposition at international and club level.
.
Sure....

The problem is if all the refs will punish smiliar tackles with straight reds.
I am sure they won't.

Look at the replay. He actually got part of the ball. Sure, he came in late, but it wasn't flagrant.

If he came in late, then Italy jumped up for that ball late, thus their Elbow being put out.

I just watched it in slow-mo 5 times again. He got lucky if he actually did touch the ball. He came to the left out side of the Italians leg while the ball was on his right side.

Of all u.s.a possession, they do not look like they will score.

this game is turning into an ugly unfair.

( err, turning - turned!!!)

The u.s.a are lucky not to be trailing...

I know on this thread we've been predicting the scores for some of the games – but is anyone wanting to stick their neck out and make a prediction about how many players we're going to have on the pitch at the end of this one? :p ;)

We'll get something new though.

Maye Italy will actually try to play some real football!!
Not hang about in the defence diving all over the place just being annoying for the specators....

EDIT:

9 - 9

Italy are starting to show their dominance.

u.s.a just don't have the ability and fitness for a full 90 minutes up against superior European teams.

Italy's attack is not their forté, they should tap there biggest resourcem catenaco(man behind ball) and counter attack. Lets not even talk about diving, usa isnt doing it but I suggest you look at some other teams before you point fingers. Your view is a stereotypical view of italian football.

I mentioned earlier that diving and other forms of cheating is so common place nowadays, that it has become a must to do so yourself, as to have a fair chance.
So as to diving, I am not pointing fingers.

I am poiting fingers to their style of play.

Load of crap.
That is absolutely not how it is - or is that or Holland's strategy / excuse? :-D

these announcers blow nuts too. "it was just a late tackle" but if Italy does it "their playing soo aggresive". please  If you wanted a aggresive game, "Poland vs. Germany" was aggressive but clean

I'm watching the italia vs usa game (go italia!) and what the hell is offsides mean? and this is coming from someone who's played soccer for 4 years lol

How much footbaal do you see?

Look at the top leagues in Europe. Take the CL.
We did it yesterday. Robben dived.

It seems to be so bad that the FIFA president actually asked the players not to do these tricks. And they were sure to be penalized with a yellow card if they were caught.
I can't think of one top team that doesn't have divers in their squad.

You don't see excess diving in the english premiership...

oooh man you just reminded me of how pissed off I am that I didnt see poland vs germany match :( It must of been good

Yes you do.

Even my beloved Henry at Arsenal tries it from time to time.
Robben at Chelsea. van Nistelrooy at Man U.
Doesn't happen as often as in other countries, but it still happens too much.
