But I'd disagree with you on that. Rugby football flows yes... but American football has a darned sight more strategy and structure and that appeals to me. Every play has a purpose and, as a fan, part of the fun in those (30 or 40 seconds - or less if the clock is running down) of preparation is trying to second guess both head coaches as to what the offensive call will be and whether the defense are lined up to cover it properly. If you watch it not knowing what's going on, I can understand your viewpoint. But I'd say, as a fan of both games, that they're equally exciting, just in different ways. Union's gone downhill since it went pro though.
