"Hup Holland!"

Addendum: Billy Bragg, English correspondent for ESPN Sports is known for blowing monkeys out his quill, so I seldom consider anything he spews as worthy of quote or comment. But when an Argentine correspondent (Garcia) says, "the worst thing England could do would be to underestimate this Ecuador side and look past them", that captures my attention. I think we may see an invigorated Ecuador side come Sunday.

Those who quickly dismissed Ecuador after taking note of a 3-0 defeat against Germany also failed to remember Ecuador played that match without starting Delgado and Tenorio, two of their offensive spark plugs. If two of England's defenders, Neville and Ferdinand, pull up injured and can't play Sunday, with Crouch's gangling attempt to take up the slack for an injured Owen, the last thing England need would be to enter the match looking beyond it with a focus toward Holland. (Sorry, Portugal. :D)

So, now we have come to the business end of the WC :)

Anybody in for some predictions?

Germany - Sweden: 2-1

Argentina - Mexico: 3-0

Before the start of this World Cup, I would have thought Sweden would win against the hosts, but after seeing Germany's performance, this could shape up to become a real thriller.
And, as Gary Lineker once said:
Football is a simple game; 22 men chase a ball for 90 minutes and at the end, the Germans win.
:p

I will go for a Germany win on pens and 4-1 to the argies :)

germany - sweden: hope for 3:2 but a 1:0 (85th minute Ballack ) is more likely
argentina - mexico: argentina will be playing with first squad again and thus 3:1

Holy crap, that was quick!

Hmm, so the quarter final game would end up being Germany vs Argentina then, correct? Wow, that's going to be a good one...

Well, Sweden does have 75 minutes (give or take) to respond, so they have plenty of time for a comeback...

Yeah, it's not gonna happen... ;)

I didn't, (I wasn't), but now I do (and I am)!

Tnx!

Right... seems game over to me (if that wasn't already the case).

I can't see Sweden come back from 2 goals behind with 10 men.... surely not against this very, very impressive German side.

...or this very, very bent referee.

He wasn't even considering giving a second yellow until three German players surrounded him and told him it was a yellow card offence  .
