But i still think this game is the "black sheep" of an otherwise brilliant tournament.(applause to the Germans)
The pundits speaking in the pre-match build up spoke of a 'beautiful' match in prospect between 'two beautiful teams' – the Portuguese would impress us with their flair and skill, while the Dutch would wow us with their technical ability. They couldn't have been more wrong, really – one of the ugliest games I've seen in a while. :p

Man, I'm guttered.

What a display. Must admit I can't remember everything (got so pissed last night), but what a disappointment.
At least we made it as easy as possible for England (couple of red cars, eh..? ;) ).

One positive thing though... at least I don't have to choose which side I support in the quarter final. :p

Yeah, i think i will read all of it when this week is over, have quite a crazy week ahead.

Okay, i honestly doubt that a team like The Netherlands, or any first class team, would search out a danger player and attack him.
Er, actually yes they would and do. Terry Butcher , th e ex England captain was saying a pro footballer tries to win howeverpossible without getting sent off, tricking the ref, upsetting players. When asked if he would stand on Rooneys foot, he said most definitely. The hard bit is doing it. Losing a player in an effort to get another off would not be the aim, but if it happened, oh well.

I know it's been said to death - I'll say it again - that game was the most inconsistently officiated match I've ever seen. Really amazing to watch.

I disagree, I think he was consistent. Consistently send players of for nothing, consistently book players and consistently a wanker

I'd also say that van Persie looked like the best player on the field last night, which at least bodes well for the Gunners next year :).

So that's two positive things ;)

We must have been watching a different match becuase I thought he was aweful!!!

Maybe Aweful is a little harsh but definitely average. Like most of the dutch team where yesterday

As i said before, I can't remember the whole match.... but what I do remember is the tension and emotions in the pub yesterday (many were really angry).
The Portugese goal was a beauty, but I think we could and should have scored too. The game really should have ended on penalties... it was that kind of bizarre match.
Besides, if we had extra time, I bet both teams would have ended with eight! :p

BTW, it's strange that Figo is allowed to play against Engalnd. That headbutt should have been penalised correcty. The FIFA rules say that because the ref did act on the incident (gave him a yellow... ) they can't do anything about it. Too bad the ref sends everyone off for trivial offences, but fails to give a straight red for a headbutt.

I read earlier that the Portuguese FA are considering an appeal against Deco's sending off. If successful, he will of course be clear to play against England on Saturday...

From what I saw it looked like his "time wasting" was more a matter of trying not to get elbowed/punched by a Dutch player. I don't think that he deserved the second yellow - but I don't expect him to play against England.

If so, then England should strongly protest against Figo's appearance.

OK, that may have been a bit of overenthusiasm considering the results. For the Dutch, I also thought that Robben controlled the ball well and looked to be making Portugal nervous. Too much Arsenal cheerleading I guess: guilty.

0-0 at halftime. Good game to watch. A couple of fantastic saves by Swartzer. I wonder how the Italian tactics will be for the second half.

The Italian long balls into the box always look dangerous. Good to see Australia with more possesion.

Are you kidding me? Aussies have been as dull as hell, italians havent been much better. It's a little strange that this game is good to watch but Englands game (that included a wondergoal) was boring.

Good to see Australia with more possesion.

Why, mate?

Passing the ball around the defence counts for nothing really.
