Yeah and I would have had to download each one individually. I'd much rather set it and forget about it. Hard drive space is cheap...

Didn't read everything before me but currently, it seems that Transmission has some serious bugs with multiple torrents bugging out.

Check one of my posted threads or couple pages back about the issue.

Which version are you running? I just keep using the latest builds and I haven't had it choke on a tracker yet.

Just check your router has the desired port open that Transmission is configured to use (it will tell you when it is open). Make sure you aren't uploading too high (it'll kill your download bandwidth), I sometimes set it to 0kb/s because my bandwidth gets restricted and I can still download full speed.

Remember, if you are downloading slowly, it doesn't mean something is wrong. It depends how many leechers (people who download but don't upload) and seeders (people who are also uploading/sharing), and also what the seeders upload speed is set to and how many people are leeching off that one seeder.

If you think you should be downloading faster, try downloading something that is just added (i.e. the latest Lost episode) - that will have thousands of seeders so you will be able to download full speed.

I think an Ubuntu disc image would be a much safer torrent to use as the test one. ;)

Not to mention it has a ridiculous number of peers available.

Wow, it's only been what, a year and a half since I switched to uTorrent and and what a change :O Ugh, back then it was already too heavy for my taste..
 
Hi, sorry to resurrect the thread, but I figured its better than to start my own...

Till today, I used Transmission. But recently it started acting very strangely O_O

I have a very slow connection (8kb/sec max) so every KB counts. The thing is, Transmission seems to download only half of what it really downloaded... kind of hard to explain, but the number of "Total" or "Session" downloads is about 2x as big as the actual number in the file download field, as if only half of the data it downloads is useful. I attached a screenshot of it so it makes things more clear. I tried newer versions of Transmission, deleted preferences files to reset the app, but it didn't help. It never happened before :confused:

Now I've tried BitRocked and it seems to work right. Too bad it doesn't show the amount of downloaded data - only % :(

The thing is, is that taking the download speed and time into account, the Session transfer number is right. But only about a half of all those MBs "go to" the file itself. I wonder why is that...... :confused:

You might try posting your issue over at the Transmission forums. The devs are pretty helpful.
 
Can someone point me in direct to a FAQ on how to make my upload go faster in Transmission, It is really annoying it only upping at 8kb/s when I know I can go higher than that.

Have you tried the FAQ built into the Transmission help? It pretty well covers what you would need to know.

Yhup I found it after I made the post:eek:, But I have decided to move to Vuze as I need to set up Auto-Downloading which is a pain in the ass to do:mad:.
 
as far as i see every1 likes to use transmission.
i have been using azerus aka vuze. i do however like the layout but the thing just takes up too much RAM and slows my macbook down. i will try transmission once i finish my torrents. i hope its faster than vuze and im sure that it will take less resources

Does Azureus still have the connection drop outs? where it basically resets your connection?

I havent used it since October-ish or so since I switched most of my Torrents to my Windows system using uTorrent.


I have an AEBSn and Azureus downloaded my torrents lightning fast and efficient but my connection would always tend to drop, i heard it was a problem over on the Apple.com Discussions, but havent followed it since I experienced it some time ago.

I'm using Vuze now to download this 1.36 GB torrent, my router is AirPort extreme N (100Mbit ethernet version) and I never had connection drops, even though it has been downloading for 1 day and 12 hours already. Computer is MacBook rev.B connected via wifi N.
 
I was about to start a new poll as I am the results are outdates being a year old now. However, I think I will wait until utorrent is released for mac.
