Did you make sure to throttle your upstream connection speed and number of connections?I've been having all kinds of trouble with Transmission for the last month or so. Regardless of what my current upload or download rate is (and even when I have both capped, which I usually do), Transmission has been slowing my Internet connection speed to a crawl. Browsing using Firefox or Safari, checking Mail, etc. barely even works when I have Transmission running. And I'm on a solid 6mbps connection. Anyone else seeing this problem? I've tried rolling back to older versions of Transmission but still have the same problem. About to try Azureus for the first time, which is a shame because Transmission has been great til now!

just FYI, i did more research into my problem, and it was the torrent software overwhelming the router. The solution was to re-flash my router from DD-WRT to Tomato, and enable QoS settings to make torrent apps lower priority, so they don't encroach on regular web surfing
I've tried all of those and more except for bittyrant. Nothing satisfies me more than utorrent. It simply does its work. Sure, it could be better. But its what a torrent client should be IMO.
I'm using Vuze now to download this 1.36 GB torrent, my router is AirPort extreme N (100Mbit ethernet version) and I never had connection drops, even though it has been downloading for 1 day and 12 hours already. Computer is MacBook rev.B connected via wifi N.
Transmission or Azureus, but Azureus has all the "Vuze" crap on it, so would suggest Transmission.
What did you exactly do? Can you guide us?![]()
