People trying to justify buying the 14 pro max instead.

Just because the PM has the most stuff, doesn’t mean it’s the best phone for other peoples use cases.

I really don’t need promotion for reading books.

Couldn’t care less for an extra camera for the 3 pics I take every month.

Oh, it weighs less? Great!

Oh it’s cheaper? Perfect.

Oh, the battery lasts even longer than the most expensive model? Awesome!

I just hope people won’t call me out on the street when they see I only paid for a 2-camera phone. So embarrassing.

Whatever rocks your boat my friend.

End of the day it's your money and you should spend it how you want and spend it on what makes you happy and fulfill your desired requirements.

Simple.

The main reason I‘m negative towards it is that it makes zero sense in the European market. And no, I‘m not complaining about exchange rates.

It costs more than the iPhone 13 while not improving on it in any meaningful way. It‘s even missing what was arguably the main feature of the product presentation (given the title of the keynote), satellite emergency calls.

So while I think there‘s a discussion to be had about getting the regular 14 in the US, you‘d have to be properly ignorant to buy one in Europe. They don‘t make any sense over a 13 / 13 Pro since you can get both of these models on discount while getting the same or even more features.

I’m talking about the 14 plus.

Well, I love the latest and greatest BUT in this case I gonna try the iPhone 14 plus PURELY cos of the lighter weight. The 14PM and 13PM are horrid things to hold due to the weight and size and flat sides ( I had and returned the 13PM )!. I am hoping that the 14 plus lighter weight will make it feel amazing in the hand like my 11 plus did. I also just bought the Samsung Fold 4 and WOW, now that is an amazing phone and despite being 40grammes heavier than even the Pro Max it is SO much more comfy in the hand!! I also rock a 13 Mini iPhone! So gonna have 3 phones for a while till I decide which one or two to keep! :)

I’m talking about the 14 plus.
Even so, considering the difference between iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 Plus, bigger battery and large screen aside, both phones have very minimal differences according to Apple's compare charts. Yes, iPhone 14 Plus s better in some ways, but not really enough to convince someone to get iPhone 14 Plus unless they absolutely want a larger display.

If we consider iPhone 13 Pro Max with iPhone 14 Plus, the 13 Pro Max has enough feature parity that it is arguably a better deal than iPhone 14 Plus, especially considering both uses the exact same SoC. The value proposition on that iPhone 14 Plus is just so weak in some regions it makes little sense to buy it even if you don't care about those "PRO" features. Sure, battery life is worse because it was released one year earlier, but a new battery can eliminate that concern as well.

I am not even considering a new iPhone purchase for at least another three years.
I am going back to my SE 2020 as that’s all I need in a phone and selling my 12 mini.

All I need is to make calls, texts and listen to music with my AirPods while out for a walk. Any model of iPhone will do what I need so I have no need to spend a small fortune on the latest and greatest.

Everybody’s case is different but I expect lots of people will be like me, I don’t use any kind of social media rubbish so the battery lasts me two days on one charge.

Well, everyone needs their reasons to justify a purchase, I agree with yours. I’d say main dealbreaker for phones today is the 120hz refresh screen or higher. Once you to that way, it’s hard to go back.

I’ve ordered the plus. Solely because I prefer the colours of the plus to the pro max.

I was all set on a blue pro max this year. I fancied trying a larger phone. But they didn’t release the sierra blue. Changed it for deep purple, I’m not a fan.

Blue has always been my favourite colour and I absolutely love the blue of the standard 14 and plus.

I know the PM has more features, but the way I see it. The standard 13 I have now does all I need a phone to do. Any of the 14 range would also do everything I need. So I realise I’m in the minority but I’ve chosen purely on aesthetic this year.

I know if I hadn’t I’d spend the year wishing I’d got the gorgeous blue phone.

Plus, it lets me try the larger phone whilst saving me £250. Next year if I’ve enjoyed the plus, I’ll grab a pro max (if the colours are nice!). If I don’t like the size I’ll return it for a standard 14.

Honestly, what does it matter how much hate or love a product is getting? What matters is the user is happy with it.

I don’t think anyone really cares or notices wether someone else has an iphone 14 plus or max on the street. I ordered the 14 max only because I‘m a photographer, and I do care about the extra camera. But thats just me. I don’t judge or care if someone buys the plus. It seems like a great iphone, and If I didn’t want/need the extra camera, I’d totally buy the plus. The battery life is awesome! I’m also a big guy with big hands & prefer the larger size. I think it’s great that Apple finally is offering a larger iphone without all the bells & whistles of the max. Not everyone needs or wants them. A phone is just a tool. I don’t need the latest & greatest. If my iphone does what I need, I don’t upgrade every year. I kept my iphone 11 pro max for 3 yrs. I wasn’t even going to upgrade to the 14 max & planned to wait for the 15… but my 11 suddenly died. It’s all good.

My mom been using an iPhone 12 since launch. I upgrade her every 2 years. I take advantage of those at&t trade in deals on her phone. She did say she wants the 14 plus. All she wants is a bigger screen. She does a lot of video viewing on it. Netflix/hulu/etc. Of course ill be taking advantage of another at&t deal and trade in her 12. Basically pay very little for the 14 plus. There's many people out who don't need the best iPhone apple has to offer. They don't care if you have 2 or 3 lenses.

I wouldn’t use the word hate. It’s just that Apple has way too much fragmentation today. They need to return to the one phone business model with all the bells and whistles. Offer last year’s model as well at a reduced cost for those who don’t want or can’t afford the latest and greatest. I would be much happier with a 13 Pro at the cost of a 14: better cameras, better display, same processor. And drop the Max model, 6.1” display should be more than enough for most people. But it’s all about the shareholders now.

Could it be buyers remorse?… Apple is great at creating a FOMO environment around its products… the 13 was a fine product and came at the right time with the right things, including fixing a plethora of problems associated with the 12… like battery life and issues… the 13 also had a better lineup using equal components, such as their chip set and camera qualities… they all had different capabilities based on their sizes and target markets, but it is a comprehensive lineup that met everyone’s needs and those still on X and 11 were at end of life cycles on their devices… the 14 onthe other hand did not improve much, and split components, like the chip sets… a stupid, stupid, move IMHO… but Apple gets what they deserve… and also people are starting to gain control over their FOMO tendencies…

The only reason for what little love the 14 plus is getting is people trying to justify not buying the 14 pro max instead.

But...I actually think the 14 plus is a great phone. However, it pales in comparison to the 14 Pro and Pro Max, so that if you are upgrading, you might as well get the Pro instead. And if you are not getting the Pro, then don't upgrade at all unless you are using the 12 or older, even 11 or older.

I said the same or more referring to the 13 Pro Max. You get a 120 Hz screen, a higher typical screen brightness, Macro photography, the Telephoto lens, Nightmode portraits, ProRAW photography, ProRes videos, a LIDAR sensor and probably more things that I forgot to list.

Two models would be perfect. Just as it was done for the 6,7, and 8.
