People trying to justify buying the 14 pro max instead.

Just because the PM has the most stuff, doesn’t mean it’s the best phone for other peoples use cases.

I really don’t need promotion for reading books.

Couldn’t care less for an extra camera for the 3 pics I take every month.

Oh, it weighs less? Great!

Oh it’s cheaper? Perfect.

Oh, the battery lasts even longer than the most expensive model? Awesome!

I just hope people won’t call me out on the street when they see I only paid for a 2-camera phone. So embarrassing.
I will definitely point and laugh at your peasant two camera setup, and ugly aluminum.

Only REAL Apple customers get the Pro.

🤣 kidding of course.

Being as though this forum never represents the general iPhone buying public, the 14 plus will sell very well, especially through carriers.
Yup.

Good ol’ US carrier free peasant broke-butt iPhone. 🤣

Without carrier subsidy, it’s such a bad buy at full retail. Maybe it’s what Apple intended all along with the sub-Pro iPhone line: have a carrier-darling device that is perfect for their “buy one get one free” deals.

Wait a minute…. That’s why I have a strong distaste for this 14: they are treated the same as the Samsung “free” phone deals you get for opening new lines or changing cell providers.

😱 I think I just figured out Apple’s strategy.

I better spend another $200 for **** I don’t need so you can’t make fun of me for not spending as much as you on **** you don’t need.
No my friend, I NEED that premium stainless steel, don’t you understand 🤣

for serious, though, I think the Plus bothers me mostly because
A: I’m still sore at Apple creating the whole $999 cellphone tier
B. It’s the only way to get their best, where it used to be a $650/$699 entry fee.
C. It’s an insult for them to offer a sub -standard device for only $200 less, when that starting price for the lesser phone is STILL $799/$899!

At least with the 13mini they actually offered a reason to not get a pro: smaller form factor and dramatic less weight, with a starting price of $300 less ($699).

I don’t think anyone really cares or notices wether someone else has an iphone 14 plus or max on the street.
I buy the pro phones because I’m an easily fooled consumer (I also love ProMotion) but I think it’s really cool when people have a colorful iPhone 12/13/14, it makes me jealous. Same thing with my cousin who owns a Z Flip 3, I don’t judge him for it, I just think “wow that’s so sick but I couldn’t leave iPhone at this point”

Coming from 12 Pro to 14 Plus - needed the larger screen, SOS emergency, and don't use it much for camera/video.

Shipped this morning for tomorrow delivery.

so that if you are upgrading, you might as well get the Pro instead. And if you are not getting the Pro, then don't upgrade at all unless you are using the 12 or older, even 11 or older.
This is especially the case when you buy on an installment plan; the difference per month is just a few dollars.

I would definitely say it's worth a few extra dollars a month to have a much better camera, 120Hz, latest SOC, and so on.

In fact the primary reason for not getting the pro in my opinion is reduced weight and thickness. If I were buying this year (keeping my 11PM another year) that would definitely be the biggest factor, not a few bucks a month.

Never used much of my 12 Pro features but since the 14 Plus has all the features I need, why don't I get a 14 PM ?

Don't need the weight.
Don't need the 120Hz.
Don't need the camera lenses.
Don't need the aluminum backing.
Don't need the better processor.
Could afford it spread over 24 months but why ?

14+ is my remote waters fishing phone w/ SOS emergency, larger screen and long battery life that I really want.

To each their own....

The regular 14 gets a lot of hate since it’s basically the same exact phone as last year with very minor improvements (car crash detection and SOS), making it not an upgrade at all compared to the Pro models, which cost $200 more over the base 14 model. I think the non-pro 14 models is just a cash grab since there is no mini model anymore, which is the only reason to get the regular models. The only big difference is the bigger screen, but in general, the Pro models provide better value, especially if you plan to keep your phone for 3-4 years or longer.

It’s just like with the iPad Air, Macbook Air. Once you start upgrading the storage and other specs, you are close to the price of the higher end model,

I’ll be honest, the backlash against the CPU in the 14/14 Plus is unfounded. The SoC in iPhones is so far ahead it doesn’t matter. The A15 from the 13 Pro is still much more powerful than anything else on the market.

This. Exactly. It’s not powering the extra features that is missing from the Pro series that demands it.

Just because Apple throws big ol’ improved numbers up on a big a** screen during a Keynote, users think they’re gonna notice a huge difference in last years chip vs this years.

I just came from the 13P to the 14PM. You know the difference I notice? The bigger screen.

👊🙄👍

As a shareholder, whatever you decide makes me happy unless you choose not to buy then I am sad. 😁

What are you doing with that SoC that it’s being pushed to the limits? Serious question, even an iPhone XS can handle most apps. About the only change is RAM but that comes into play with select use cases.

I hate the iPhone 14 because of the chip in it.
It’s a trickle down product. Apple is either slowing down its iPhone SoC gains due to it being able to handle most apps and games or it’s saving up for something big on iPhone 15-16 with a focus on photography, zoom, 8K video and foldable phones.
