Ah, good call. Though Carragher wasn't exactly as hero today.

It's over. Stunned...Bolton shocked Man U but that was a one-goal game. 3-1 is a drubbing by any measure. Rafa may be looking ahead to Marseilles and Man U, but he'd better win those games now. :(

I watched the whole game as a neutral. My observations, Liverpool got zero luck today, the initial contact for the penalty was outside the box, Liverpool themselves have several legitimate penalty claims, and they hit the woodwork twice. Fair play to Reading though, they payed well and got the result.

Furthermore, Voronin looked terrible, and Sissoko can't seem to pass.

Sissoko is as error-prone as Titus Bramble IMHO, his touch is terrible, and as far as I'm concerned Crouch and Torres should start every game when Rafa is playing two strikers.

Reading won because they played well, but maybe Benitez showed Reading a lack of respect by playing three strikers today. They clearly were a goalscoring threat.

Do you not think that that has happened more than once? The Premier League may not be technically the best in the world, but it's surely one of the toughest. Almost any team in there can fight and raise their game on the day, especially when a big club comes to town...

Very true, and we saw it in the Bolton-Man U game earlier this season, as I said. We also see it in the Carling Cup, with teams a couple leagues down holding premier league teams to a draw *cough* Wycombe 1-1 Chelsea *cough*.:D

Still on the bright side, Jaffa Cake will be happy today, Hull managed to keep the score down to only 4-0 against Southampton :D
And the Newcastle renaissance continues...

A stoppage-time goal, eh? That must have been a real sickener. :D

Still, at least Big Sam and his friends were happy. :)

We got the stoppage-time winner last week, swing and roundabouts I guess. Maybe that's why barton didn't get sent off for such a shocking tackle, the ref felt he had to even out Keane's shocking sending off last week.

Well, Boro did us (liverpool) a favour there, 2-0 against a very sorry looking Arsenal side.

Mind, we weren't much better against Reading, wtf was Rafa doing?

Still keeps the top 4 in contention.

2-1. I'm impressed. I feared a beating, but not one for the Arse!:D Watching MotD for the first time in aaages tonight...

Bah. This isn't the build-up we want for Chelsea. I knew this set of games on the road would be hard. I didn't expect it to result in a draw at Newcastle and loss to 'Boro.

Just got to look at the players out, and not worry too much about this build up to Chelsea. We have a good chance of having Hleb, Flamini, Cesc and possibly even van Persie (who starts full training again tomorrow) back for next weekend. We are a different proposition with them in the side. If we beat Chelsea, and Liverpool get something against United, it all looks very rosy again from an Arsenal perspective.

Whenever we have a result like this I have to take a bit of time to gain some perspective on it. Here, taking a step back, yes - we played awfully, and lost to a team that shouldn't have been troubling us. But if someone had offered me top of the league in December by a point at the start of the season, would I have taken it?

Shaping up to be tight as **** at the top, this year.

It seems we don't like playing in the north east.
But, we have had dah sh*t up norf now... :D

No more pressure about being unbeaten for a full season.... again. We have done that already!

Losing and staying at the top isn't that bad. :p

That's true XIII, but beating Chelsea and Liverpool, and at least a point against Man Utd, would be pretty amazing.

I think that's likely enough. I expect Rafa to be over-cautious against Man U and play 10 men behind the ball with Crouch or Torres isolated uselessly up front. Which means he'll hope for a draw or a 1-0 victory from a Gerrard corner, penalty or free kick - but in actuality we'll be sunk by a stoppage time goal from United.

Once you get back those injured starters we might see a gap open up.

It's all next weekend - Arsenal vs. Chelsea on the same day as Liverpool vs. United. I think there's a good chance of that happening. :)
